It’s very clear that they are collectible whisky rather than drinking whisky at this moment. I recently attended a Macallan tasting in SF and pretty much everything we tried except an exceptional single cask was at best good.
Yet moment that shocked me was when we tried Harmony Collection Rich Cacao which almost nobody found interesting especially for 180$ and brand ambassador multiple times emphasized this is a whisky to stack up to make a good profit in the future! I still think it’s crazy that brand itself more emphasizes on collectibility than drinking their spirit.
I'm surprised that they would say that. Not a good look in my opinion.

It's rare a whisky gets panned on this level, especially when it's a brand like Macallan - but it's refreshing to have this kind of honesty.

This isn't honesty, it's shock value and exaggeration. It is a little plain and the finish is a little thin but it is far from "vile." Because Macallan is a huge scotch manufacturer this guy thinks there is some caché in trashing it.
Every single whisky The Macallan release is natural colour.
You are right, yes it is.
For me the Macallan bottles I would buy are the old light brown box 12 year sherry cask matured. They are getting harder to find but keep an eye out. In the US they are 43% not sure about the UK ? Yes the Classic Cut is nice but for the price would rather get something else. Cheers

I've tried the 2018 Edition and thought it was decent.
They should put as much effort into their whisky as they do their packaging. I would say I'm not alone in this, but over the years I've spent a few nights on the earth in Scotland, if you know what I mean😂 Quote of the year so far: "This is the whisky they serve you in Hell!" Brilliant.

At least you opened and shared your Macallan, 👍(even though you didn’t like it)not like others who buy Macallan leave it on the shelf and then wait until the prices shoot up, and sell it for profit. You could mix this then with coke and chuck some ice in😂I thought Macallan didn’t colour? The only Macallan Ive had was the gold, not good. Like I said I bought this along with few other friends so the purpose was to actually drink it!
MaCallan ANOE in Scotland RRP in Australia 🇦🇺 is between AU$400 to AU$500 (US$285 to US$360) for a 700mL, this isn’t secondary prices, but retail. Luckily I’m not a MaCallan fan.

This is the Whisky with the shortest finish I have ever tasted. Very watery mouthfeel.

It’s so refreshing to see this review, you obviously don’t know what it’s like over here in the uk. Regardless of the quality of the liquid the auction house are flooded with a night on earth, people buy it buy the case load the second it drops, shops out of stock in seconds…. It’s madness, you’d be lucky to find a bottle for twice what you’d paid, at least. Much the same with the rich cocoa bottle. It sums up so much of what is wrong in the industry and shows you why macallan does it… just try to find a distill your world, unicorn bollocks. Love your channel, will stop badgering for a glass

Macallan never coloured their whiskies. The newer bottles like this one even states "Natural Colour" on the front label.

Putting it back in the bottle, that is seriously damning. Sounds like yet another of those "pretty box sold at airports to clueless people trying to suck up to their equally clueless bosses who will probably never drink it" type bottles. Diageo is probably calling them asking for pointers lol

Macallan is the Apple of whiskies, well, that is not entierly fair to Apple, because at least they tend to give you a good overpriced product and not just overpriced.

@@MaltActivist of course! Been loving the videos, but FYI that’s a great deal for only 70 pounds, I live in the US and that bottle runs for around 400, a little out of my price range unfortunately but one day!
