- Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll gave us not just a great new character but also a performance to admire and love from the late great actor who sadly passed this year before the Ahsoka Series came out. He would not come to see the fans show love for him and I wish that he could be here to see it.
With that in mind, this video here is meant to be a tribute to him as the character of Baylan but to also showcase the greatness of the actor Ray Stevenson.

Hi everyone! I wanted to give more context to this video then what was stated in the description. You’ll notice I never once intercut in footage from other Star Wars properties. That’s something you might have noticed in other edits people have made out there on TH-cam. That was something I didn’t want to do with mine for Baylan. This video is meant to really just let Ray Stevenson’s amazing performance shine. I didn’t want anything else to distract from that. I’ve loved all the edits that I have seen on TH-cam where people have done that, but for me, this was solely about Ray. I wanted this video to let his performance speak for itself through his words, face and mannerisms. Truly a great actor. Just wanted to let you all know why I took a different approach then what other people have done. Also, you’ll notice at the end I didn’t include sound effects for the lightsabers. This was mainly due to some editing issues that prevented me from putting them in. At the same time if I included the original audio with the music, there could be a possibility I get hit with a copyright infringement which would mean no one could see the video. Hope that makes sense! My editing abilities are growing and I wanted to take my time and get it right. It’s the simplest, yet hardest video I’ve ever made. I am passionate about Star Wars and about lending my voice to storytelling. This is another step in that direction. Once again, rest in peace Ray Stevenson…

Yes, you're right, other people add other clips and/or sound effects to add into what is already a dramatic acting performance. So, very sad when I see these tributes to Ray. Baylan is a first glimpse of what the balanced Sith Empire is capable of, but he had no Empress to serve, and the Universe had no reason to willing accept an Empress (Rey), but Ray set out make that so. I love this character, and the way that Ray played him. He made you believe everything he said.
Honestly, i came for Ashoka and the rebels/ ghost crew, but stayed for Baylon. Ray's acting and conviction far exceeded that of the rest of the cast.
I have seen Ray in quiet a few roles over the years and he was indeed a very fine actor indeed. Given that both he and I are the same age! His passing certainly brings my own existence on this mortal plain much more to the front of my mind. We should strive to do the best we can and enjoy the time we all of us have left. Rest in peace Mr Stevenson.

Rest easy Ray I’ve always loved your work, you where a great and talented actor and man.
He could have been cast as Darth Viciate in an Old Republic version, his presence was very Imperial royalty.
The one thing that gave me chills about Baylan's statements to being called to something, or someone, is the statues of the Mortis Force Beings, and how he stood on the Father's hand which pointed to the distance, we know in Old Legends there was a Mother who was locked away, what terrifies me is she was as powerful as all three of the others combined, so if they bring Abeloth back, that is going to be an enormous point of horror in Star Wars returning.
I made a video about this and I agree that would be so big for Star Wars if they did go that route

While I have never watched "Ahsoka", I have seen Ray Stevenson in numerous movies and he ALWAYS had a level of gravitas and sheer presence in everything he did. I remember first seeing him in the movie "King Arthur" as Dagonet and even though he didn't say much, he was impossible to ignore or forget. Same with his roles in "Rome" and "The Three Musketeers" and others, you were always aware of him. Watching these clips of him as Baylan Skoll, it is easy to see why so many absolutely LOVED his character. He was an amazing actor and will definitely be missed. RIP Ray.

The coolest character star wars gave us since disney took over....no disrespect but i just can't get into rey "skywalker/palpatine" and what they did to luke....i tried hard to make myself like them by rewatching and looking for good things to say....but it just didnt work...no hate to people that like the sequals to each his own....but damn its a shame we will have no more of rays wonderful portrayal of that awesome character......a guy not afraid of the dark, but not a bad guy really either...

Baylans path in the force was always driven by his own Morals, Judgment, and goals. He is a great example of one who walks between light and dark. Another thing is seeing just two dark side users always reinforces The Rule of Two as being a law than just a theory.
Also, thank you Ray Stevenson being one of the musketeers in the film "The Three musketeers " (2011)

Titus Pullo will be missed
His character was/is perfect.
He was taken from us too soon. He can't be replaced. He is Titus Pullo, the Punisher, Baylon Skull, so many iconic characters. We are diminished without him.
You'll always be loved and appreciated Ray. We miss you
Vader, Sidious, Skoll and Tyrannous. This is by far the top bad guys in hte whole franchise, in that particular order. As someone else easilly summed up here. Stevenson is a king among the Jedi Knights.
There’s something so strangely poetic about his final role seeking a path outside the constant chaos of life itself in the Star Wars universe and then passing in the real, almost like he knew in a way his time was ending and wherever his soul was going next was what he was speaking of
a Dark Jedi to match or even surpass the presence and soul of Count Dooku. he’ll be missed greatly

His attire kind of emanates a certain regal but also weathered clone wars feel. As if his old self was in the past and what's left is a tired hollow shell.

Iv been a fan of rays since i first saw him as Titus pullo in the amazing series HBO's Rome as well as Punisher War Zone, King Arthur, Thor movies, Black Sails as Blackbeard, Dexter season 7, The Three Musketeers, The Other Guys, and in addition to baylan skoll he also voices Gar Saxon in the clone wars and rebels, i could go on and on but he is one of my favorite actors taken from us far too soon and he will absolutely be missed

Is it mean or does it feel like the show implied that he becomes the Father (of the Ones); the Mortis gods? Like, "What if?" he ended up in some time loop or something; Mortis, is a mystical realm outside of the galaxy's normal time and space. In Rebels, depicted in a painting on the Lothal Jedi Temple, opened a gateway to Ahsoka, saving her; changing her fate and time. What if the sculpture on Peridea, points to something like that? It just seems like his character is important to changing destiny.
I think you'll find that that's a possibility of what we could see happen in Season 2. There's a clear connection to the Mortis gods based on his character.

This series was rough, like most of Disney's shows, to say the least. But even Acolyte had some good. I liked most of this series because it felt like another season of Rebels. However, if Baylan wasn't it this, I feel it would have suffered even more. He and Shin were great additions to the Star Wars mythos and Ray killed this role. I hope that if they continue this series, his recast can handle the insane talent he brought. R.I.P. Ray. you will be missed.

I've like Ray Stevenson's performances from the first time I saw him in the HBO series, ROME. I have not seen Ahsoka but Ray's parts that I've seen in this video make me want to see the series. What a crying shame Ray Stevenson passed so early.

I appreciate those words of kindness, although it was never my intention to make this out of going against the Ahsoka show or make something better than it. I thought Ahsoka S1 was good but the character of Baylon Skoll was truly great above it.
