No doubt at all. Amazing player and super cool. Very genuine too. What you see is what you get. I remember the first time I heard him...it was on Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey soundtrack in 1991, and Poison Native Tongue shortly thereafter. I was hooked on those chops and that tone!
seriously underrated muscian ... Only really been listening to him for the last 3 years or so other than his Mr Big days ... Can not believe how much talent this guy has ...
I fucking wish! He is ridiculously talented, his choice of phrases are so tasteful its unreal! He's in the same company as Vai, Yngwie, Satriani, Johnson but for me he plays extremely tasteful whereas some of those wank for the sake of wanking "cough" Yngwie "cough"
Amazing technique, Ritchie's such a great player, so clean and precise ripping like that without a pick, I actually remember when he did play with a pick, also very impressive, a true talent and inspiration to any guitar player, rock on Ritchie!
I just got one of these guitars, a few weeks ago. It is truly an amazing playing and feeling guitar. I love the HUGE neck and frets and the DiMarzios are everything I've come to love about their pickups. Now ... if only I could play like Richie !
I think the main Problem with something like the D-Tuner, is licensing. Fender doesn't own the rights to sell something like the D-Tuner as standard on their guitars. I do however agree with you on the neckfinish!
Phil Selman thanks for sharing this video. This is a killer Telecaster for the money! Gold hardware, flamed maple top, upgraded pickups, comfort cuts, you can't go wrong!
I own this model, mostly because of the neck shape and big C profile. And it grows on me every day I play it. Richie is a Genius in designing the guitar this way : It can be so subtle and sweet for such a strong rock machine ! But don't buy it only because you are a Richie fan. I made the mistake of purchasing a MusicMan Luke in the past, because I liked the sound and I was a huge Lukather fan, but honestly, those guitars come with the most narrow neck you will ever find. So much unconfortable for people with large hands !
Thanks Richie Kotzen for giving me the influence too throw away my pick!! My experience is that it's basically introduced me too myself & I now find I'm moving forward faster & able to do more stuff!!! Thanx!!
I was in long mcquade winnipeg, asking about telecasters. Wasn't impressed with what I played, until the salesman went into the basement and pulled the Richie out. Looked at it, SOLD. It's very difficult to go back to my usual les paul Strat combo. Absolutely brilliant guitar you can fly on it.
Weird question; great response. After going through five minutes explaining what he wanted on it, dude asks "What did you tell Fender you wanted?" "I wanted a Flying V!" Brilliant.
Its interesting to see other guitarists that dont use a pick. Ive played with just my fingers for years and my movements look completely different. I would tell every guitar player to ditch the pick and watch your playing drastically improve once you find your way.
I love the fact that he's demoing it on a $170, solid state, travel amp. I have a Roland Cube Lite also. I just don't have the $1499 tele or the playing ability Richie has. At least I have step one out of the way. Only two to go!
sillennium I travel with one of those for practicing in hotels. It's great for that, but of course, Richie could make a tin can with a cell phone speaker in it sound incredible.
interesting right hand technique. I think the tele helps keep the notes tight and crispy when played with the fingers..lotsa great players out there that are not well known ( and lots of shitty one that are) he's not JUST fast, tasteful playing.
sillennium Well, kindof. Chambered Ash with Flame Maple Top, Bird's Eye Maple ... c'mmon. I just say it'd be amazing a Tele Select wtih the electronic of this beautiful Tele RK.
@@sillennium easy: unfinished necks are notoriously hard to ship internationally. a neck finish really protects the guitar. i had to reject 2 g&l asats because of a crappy unfinished neck (1 warped, 1 rotted). finally got a good one, and even if i prefer gloss finish, it feels really good
Great guitar...I got it from Japan before they made it here. I swapped the switch and sheilded the pickguard (it was a little noisy) Perfection! Too bad he screwed it up with a gadget like the onboard tuner...I mean...when you play anything, you're plugged in...why not have the tuner in line?
When he turns it on he only has to look at the knob to check the tuning he doesn't have to go check it on the amp or his effects board,he just looks down for a quick tuning if needed.,you see the red light come on when he flicks the switch.
Lincoln Howell he said he doesn't use a tone knob, so there would be no need to put on on there for his signature model. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe.
Richie: Here's my signature guitar, it's the same guitar that comes off the racks. Also Richie: I've sanded the finish off the neck, added a D-tuner, and changed out the electronics. Me: I don't know what a signature guitar is anymore.
to be fair, it's just bells and whistles at that point. i've no use for a tuner, and i prefer varnished necks. the d-tuna is pretty cool, but i don't switch between drop and standard mid-song so it's not necessary. if they made this axe in left-hand format, i'd get it but probably add strap-locks to it. the electronics, the fat neck, the 6-saddle bridge and locking tuners are what really load the gun, so to speak
I have this tele... I have small hands..and even with big neck...its has more of a flat radius..towards 12 fret....its a good tele...i have 2 nash .and 1 fender cshop...the tone nob has the punch..try to get 1. Under 8 lbs..
Richie is a guitar god! tried this guitar at a local shop.. the build quality is second to nothing. the only thing is what he pointed out.. the neck is a bit chunky.. radius is 12 inch so great for solos and bending.
Max Mustermann hmm I haven't played any of those Gibsons before, but I would say it was noticeably one of the thickest necks I have ever played. I know I'm not mistaking it for a wide neck because I played an 8 string straight after. It feels like grabbing a baseball bat halfway up haha. That probably doesn't help 😉 I'm in Nashville TN and they have one there to try. But don't buy it or I'll have to come to your place all the time just to play it haha
Pretty much because IN Japan hes better received,Japan still seems to like or appreciate or prefer guitar virtuosos/shredders etc and guys like Kotzen and Gilbert arguably have just as big audiences there then they have here, and likely better album sales in japan as well....you go where your appreciated the most I suppose hah.
paul1060 it would be interesting if they did output the guitar like this but I imagine Fender feels they wouldn't sell as many with these additions, but who knows. Maybe they will do a fully relic version with it the way he makes it. I wonder if they could add his fingerprint in the first fret too.

I like him since I was a kid. And now I have kids and still listen to his band winery dog!!!
Mr Big? Are you thinking of Paul Gilbert? He was in Poison but not Mr Big...(not nitpicking, just trying to understand...
@ObsidianLife he was in Mr Big briefly, just like Poison. It didn't last long

Does the guitar come equipped with Richie's talent?

Nope :(
That's a very tall order considering he has awesome guitar skills and an epic voice!

But then again Gregg Parrish,I bet you're not a sloppy player!!
This is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.

The flying V comment is epic !
Yes
Richie is a Unicorn In Human Form. He's just beyond this planet with his talent
For sure
Not only a stellar and unique guitar player, but a much better singer than most singers!
He is a great singer. I happen to think he is a fantastic guitar player too.
I really would love to own his signature series Tele. Richie Kotzen is an extremely under-rated guitarist and signer.
very true!
And keyboardist
And composer.
So humble with all that talent..... Reading, PA!
Yep
Why not have the drop D thingy, the neck finish and tuner as standard? If you get a signature guitar, why not have it complete to begin with?
Sambuccashake Just guessing here, but I am figure Fender didn't want to do it to make the guitar more appealing to more people. Who knows though.
sillennium then it should not be a signature guitar
alexander tisell shut up.

Winery Dogs are INCREDIBLE. Listen to the live video from Japan.
That live video was one of the first live shows they did too. Which makes it even more amazing.
