I have several S&K and USA made Craftsman ratchets which I bought in the 1970s and still use today. Once a year I soak the heads in ATF and they work as well as they did when they were new.
I own some S-K and see them all the time in garage sales. I always clean them. Great job on disassembly. I use WD40 to clean in some parts. Once a part was broken an S-K mailed me a new part for FREE.
Thank you for so much for posting this as it really helped me clean and reassemble my SK Wayne ratchet wrench. I wish my wrench had cost me $2.00 as I paid much more for mine. Thank you for the good video work with good lighting and closeups of how the parts fit and work together. This was the first time I took an SK Wayne ratchet wrench apart and now, thanks to you and the Lord Jesus Christ, I have a good, useable tool!
I know you say you paid too much, but I think over time it has paid for itself, keep an eye out you might find one cheap now that they are considered older tools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a couple of those in my ratchet collection, used one of them recently to work on my truck. That one is probably from the 70s on up. SK Wayne was mid 60s and the older SKs will have the diamond logo. Very durable ratchets. Had some bolts to take off that use the star drive sockets. As tight as they were, probably never been taken off, ended up breaking the tip off my T25 star socket in the process. No cheater bar, just my strength and the ratchet. Got all the bolts off eventually. If I used one on my 90 tooth ratchets, probably would have tore some of the teeth up. I'll stick with the low tooth count ratchets for the hard jobs any day
I love mine.i really like the quarter inch drive. I just wanted to let you know in case you might not. you can get parts well a total head kit from Amazon close to 40 bucks and they've got the USA ratchets like yours and the quarter inch still in stock I don't know how much longer??? Good video
Interesting to me that a lot of people looking for a cheap (er) tool would rather go to harbor freight and buy some Chinese stuff then buy used stuff like this

I have not tried to send for parts, online they are getting expensive!
S&K ratchets seem indestructible, I have a couple old ones that make me look young and as long as they are maintained they work great..
You got to love them!

Happy New Year.
Same to you, I hope you have fun and get to enjoy the whole year!
Those old S-K (Sherman and Klove) ratchets are bulletproof. I have several of them.
Got to love them!

Great tip, Thanks for the heads up!
Very nice restoration. Strange that the selector housing broke where it did? Wonder if someone was in a hurry to switch directions and got overeager??
I think somebody was using it maybe as a hammer!!!!!! or dropped from a height? maybe? Thank you for watching my video!
I used to use 440 weight gear oil as ratchet lube lol, until I found “super lube” . Lasts longer!
Yea, Snap-On will send you a rebuild kit, it has a Super Lube packet in it!

I think people get lazy and just too easy to just buy junk, leaves more for us though!!!!!
