    It´s certainly helping to raise the bar - it´s impressive to see that they´re so honest about the speed.
    I enjoyed the run at the end very much.

      @@TomleyRC So you would recommend this one over the brushed motor one, for 20$ more? I don´t know brushless motors, never had a car with such a motor before, is it a big improvement over brushed?

      Fannar Bergsson I’ve not seen what the Brushed one comes with, but usually they are combined speed controller/ESC and probably won’t have metal diff upgrades. So this is certainly worth it with all the extras, Brushless are more efficient, and smoother in my experience. If you don’t plan on upgrading it this is excellent straight out the box. Suspension is a bit bouncy, but easy and cheap to replace.

    Nice test! I keep buying/trying stuff like this on the grounds that someone out there is making a traxxas ass whooper. Someone out there is sat on a $100 50mph RC wondering why the hell it's not selling. People like you and me will one day find one. As soon as one of these companies gets spares like traxxas do spares, then traxxas will be worried (Very). Nice unboxing style BTW. Nice review I've just shot one of the Losi Rock Rey and this looks damn good for the money. Those tires look well on the money. I am tempted to buy one as $100 of mods will see this turn into a monster! One of the best reviews I've seen a while, you also pointed out where it wasn't so good, which is good. I'm a fellow Brit but living in California, not met many bashers yet but oh MAMA is crawling the thing to be in to here! Just seeing the end bit about traction rolls, I've a Losi Super Rock Rey on order. In time for Xmas! NOOOOO! It's arriving on 28th!!!

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for the kind words mate, and yes...we will find that $100 50mph RC, and let the world know! I'm in the middle of reviewing a Budget 1/10 Short Course (550 Motor and Lipo), unfortunately out the box it looks like it's been thrown together in the dark! Camber all off, suspension height causing driveshafts to bind etc....so not looking good at the moment. I'll have to show it as it is in the video, and then adjust it before the run. Hoping it's not to bad after all that. This little thing though is really good, and runs really well out the box (as they should!). Just needs some oil shocks and maybe lowering a bit to help with stability. I'm probably gonna get the Super Baja Rey, but not for a few months yet. Ordering the Senton 3s BLX this week. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍

    those shocks, 2 round servo grommets (soft neoprene rubber), carefully slice out the smaller tube center section = 2 perfect oil seals to install. wants about 30wt rear and 70wt up front because they're such short shocks. near free instant upgrade.
    edit: other stuff... center of gravity is too high for their own good for high speed turning, is why I went 10 tooth pinion in my 390 powered Virhuck V-01 (another clone). cutting 1.5 turns off all 4 shock springs re-flattening the new ends, it sits about 1/8" lower than fully stood up too stiff stocks. the springs are the correct weight, just a little too long making too much preload for allowing a little negative suspension travel. it rides much softer and lots more+easier flex. can always spin down the spring collars 1/8 or 3/16 to put it back to being stiffer, so no "harm" done (do it all when installing shock seals).
    as an off road vehicle they're much more suited to rock crawling and trail bouncing, bouncers just doing it faster and more violently than a strictly technical crawler. can't crawl it? jump it! not much real speed needed for that, just quick acceleration in a short space. the speed changing gear, I think is more gimmick than anything, just because the 10428 has it, and its just something else to fail/replace. same about making it brushless, has a potential for 30% longer run time, but they do poorer at very low rpm speeds. good review of what they did though, I like the bare aluminum look and those tires/rims. went from stock 90mm to 100mm right away with the V-01 here too.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a set of oil shocks for my 12428, cost about $12. I find sometimes these stock ones leak, I'm not sure they have 'o' rings on the shafts.

I can't believe I can pick this one up for $100 AUD when I paid a lot more for my Vaterra way back. Definitely going to get the brushed version for the kids, smaller tyres change it's handling significantly and you can create an upright shock brace easily as well which removes the cantilever setup for bigger jumps and more shock options. @ivostefancic7956 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, about those metal gears...
    Had FY-03 for a while, and these diff gears are zinc alloy. In short, poor. You can literally cut casting imperfections with ease with an xacto knife. Mine were worn to skipping in about 30 battery packs, despite proper greasing with a quality NLGI-2 type sticky grease.
    Other headache is that gearbox with a slipper clutch. The clutch is awfully made, it gunks up easily and starts slipping, not to mention that the tension spring is so weak that it binds up before even putting any tension on the clutch.
    12428 is a much better platform (and not the same), much more durable and simple (lack of a slipper is a plus).
    Literally only thing going for the Feiyue is steering precision and suspension link stiffness.
    Wltoys has so much slop in all of the joints that is unbelievable.
    But all in all, more fun&power and less fixing than with Feiyue, just get aftermarket metal gears from Tpower (proper steel).

      Cheers for the info, I'll run the 2s Lipo pack thorough it a few times and see how it goes. I have a JJRC Highlander which is the same just a 380 motor, and the 12428...the 12428 electronics let it down, but with full metal gears and a 3900kv brushless it flies! (70km/h off road). 👍

    Love your content, but ordering from banggood and gearbest isn't recommended in my country. Do you think these products are still worth it for 30-40% more than the prices you mention? That's what they go for from reputable sellers.

      Cheers dude, not sure i'd pay 30-40% more. I have no issues with Gearbest or Banggood. Sometimes can take a while to arrive, but thats about it.

    The FY03 are BETTER than 12428....FYo3 have metal differental gear out
    of the box....the wytoys are POS and will strip..That different design is a POS
    all together...lol
    Out RUNNERS motors are like in airplans..ect 2218 (caze size probably)
    They use it because it has the same SHAFT size as the 390 brush motors...
    so the same pinion gears can be use....
    i have fy03 i converted myself into brushless 2845 3000KV ( you'll have to ream the pinions).
    60A esc....You also need a different RX, and servo.
    The 60A is so i know it can handle 3s 40C...lol
    beats me..what the stock brushless amper esc is.
    it'll do back flips, wheelies on command and over 40 mph...on the tallest pinion. (26T)
    on 3s
    I also mounted wider and taller tires. It's actaully almost too fast...
    You need oil shocks and it'll wear out the drive lines faster
    The pins will widen the it's slot..due to massive torque.lmao
    i don't care..i just stock up on extra drive lines....
    If you didnt have an after market TX, battery charger...ect it would add up.
    i have these equipments and lipo already from my airplane. jets..ect
    Plus I got them for on;y $40-ea...I stocked up and got 4-ea.lmao
    The ones with the metal panels...which came with extra parts/pinion and
    a screw driver and allen set....(all the tools you need to work on the truck)
    for $40.,...it costed me under $100 for each truck to do the conversion.
    i just paint the panels to whatever different colors
    I like wheels and tires...on the fyo3H...thou.
    I'll buy it just becuase of that...and chuck baby brushless.lol

      I cant believe, sir. It really looks fast to me that i thought it's mph.. my stock out of the box 12428 peaked at 39 km/h or 25 mph. Idk why it's faster than this brushless

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 12428 was about 33 km/h.....although does 70+ now 😜. I'll try and lipo and change the pinion on this, should go a but quicker!

      @@ianbudgetrc2574 If your 12428 peaked at 39km/h of of the box, then it must have been on a 2s Lipo and not on the stock Li-Ion battery. yes?

    Not impressive, wltoys 12428 is better than this with brushed motor with 25mph and more durable.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      12428 has a 540 motor (so a bit more power) but also has poor electronics (I have one), how do you mean more durable? This one has full hobby grade electronics, better wheels (IMO) and the build quality is better than the WPL..ie Hex screws all round, and not really soft plastics.
