    I bought the bronze/steel version nearly 2 yrs ago & it's hardly ever left my wrist. I stored the leather strap straightaway & put it on an extra long generic green canvas NATO. To me, it's the perfect watch because I love the vintage field look & I didn't want secs or date or a museum case back. It can be worn for the outdoors, sports or formal situations. One aspect I didn't notice was the sunburst dial because it hardly shines, which means it doesn't interfere with reading the time. The cathedral hands, the lume & the track are just the perfect little touches that made it the easiest of decisions to buy.
    Buy a 2 hander, Andrew, & you won't miss that second hand.

    Great looking. 2 problems no second hand and no date . so bought the longines spirit in blue dial

    I just purchased the same watch with a really spectacular blue dial and they added a navy blue ceramic bezel with a compass and luminous accents added to the bezel. The leather strap is a navy color that fades to a black which I find awesome as well. I guess they added a couple of new features possibly to upgrade the look. It's a keeper for me !

    Fun video, thanks for posting. Looking at adding the bronze version. Can't decide if the lack of a seconds hand bothers me or if it sort of allows you the freedom to NOT worry about the exact time and how many seconds fast or slow it may run in a day. So simple, so easy to set, no date to worry about. Something sort of freeing about wearing a watch like this.

      cheers Mike,, and I'm torn with if the lack of a seconds hand is a good or bad thing,,,

    I really enjoy this video! Currently there are not a lot of videos on this watch. I took a chance and bought one new on sale for a little less than $1000 US. It did take a while to get use to not having a seconds hand as I am something of a second hand OCD type of person, always wondering why my watches are off by 5 seconds! This watch has made me appreciate the feeling of just letting it go and enjoy the hard time. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks for the feedback,,, it’s appreciated. I can imagine that it would almost be therapeutic to not have a second hand and not to be checking the accuracy all the time!!

    I love vintage watches, I've just picked up a tag heuer formula one chronograph with the black plastic bezel, in 38mm and 18mm President bracelet. I'm a big guy but this watch has blown me away , I'm amazed I didn't get one earlier. It's a quartz , got a rattling bracelet, a pressed clasp and swing arm, everything I hate, but this watch just works for me , after wearing it, none of that matters !!! Mad ain't it ?

    • @watchandrew
      @watchandrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That does sound mad,,, but if it works it works. I need to dip my toe in vintage but have never managed it

    • @martinharrison4245
      @martinharrison4245 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watchandrew, look at the old formula ones chronos , and you will understand why tag heuer were the top brand back in the 80s and 90s.
      If you like smaller watches then your going to love the wearability of these old tags . Hard to find a decent one and quite expensive, but the moment it goes on the wrist is just heaven !!!

    no second hand make the dial very simple and easy to look at. And you can see the minute easy with the rail road design so you can say if its the start of the minute or half of it or in the end.

      its a nice watch but the lack of a second hand takes some getting used to

  • @AJ-lx6mj
    @AJ-lx6mj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Upon checking through Montblanc’s website, i think your particular model is the one i like best. By the way, as it doesn’t have a second hand, do you have any problem checking if the watch is running while winding?

  • @znasser1

    Great vid! I love the watch but wish it was 38mm... 40mm is a tad too big...

    Hi Andrew have you seen the new maen hudson 38mm , it's a option to the tudor black bay 58. Priced at only 430 euros it's got brilliant specs , and lovely red/pink highlights on the hands and dial. If I was buying a new diver , this watch has to be the best buy on the planet at the moment.

    Very nice looking watch, not sure I'd pay £2k for it though with a sw200 in it. Nothing against the Selitta, I recently picked up a Oris Big Crown Pointer Date with that movement in, but it was about half the price of the MB & it has 4 hands too ;-)

    • @watchandrew
      @watchandrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair point is that pal,,, double the hands for half the price.... that’s a bargain in my eyes!🤣 had to think for a while then,, but the 4th is that date isn’t it

    • @Andrew.W75
      @Andrew.W75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watchandrew Yeah the fourth hand points to the date lol, it's good if you don't like date windows as it doesn't disrupt the dial. Keep up the good work with the channel! Cheers

    Great review again. Loved the watch and the vibe as you mentioned. Can never decide on cathedral hands though. I fancy the longines avigation big eye as my vintage piece, 30m WR only though. 😜

      I'm wearing my vintage Seiko 6139 chronograph at the moment & that doesn't have a running seconds, can make the dial seem a bit dead, but you get used to it & it doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the watch

    If you are not a watch snob and you want to have a bronze watch I suggest the Christopher Ward c60 bronze, same movement as the Montblanc, has a seconds hand and is half the price os if you don’t get on with bronze you haven’t spent a massive lump of cash.

    • @watchandrew
      @watchandrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good shout and I may try that, I’ve just bought the c65 Super Compressor recently and that was amazing quality

      @jasoncousins8689 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watchandrew , Glad to hear it, my family gifted me the first edition of the bronze c60 and I love it.
      Sits on my wrist all patinated and looking like an old penny.
      If you do choose one I would say get the ‘raw’ version (no patina) so you can see it change over a few weeks rather than the factory pre patinated one. 👍

    A major breakthrough in watches is the recent movement developed by Zenith. More accurate, less maintenance, more resistance to magnetism, shocks, ... I am excited about it and want to see it in more watches.

    Well I guess this is better than those Meistersinger watches that only have one hand? You know me...always looking for the silver lining. So this one isn't for me; especially at that price. I saw one from them last year with a salmon dial on Hodinkee. It sold out in like 4 seconds. Enjoyed the episode as always but I did spend most of it looking at your wrist. Glad you are loving that Tudor. 💪🏻

    I’m with you on the seconds hand. Ill tell you why. One of the things I like about automatic watches is the smooth sweep of the seconds hand. It may as well be a quartz with no seconds hand. I’ll tell you something... I’d be more inclined to buy quartz watches if they didn’t have a second hand. Avoid that tick. 😁

    • @watchandrew
      @watchandrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good point about the quartz,,, it would be exactly the same wouldn’t it! It’s so strange that’s it’s having such an adverse effect on everyone 😆

      Cheers mate,,, appreciate the feedback, thank you! ~ as for the knifes, I can’t speak for others but I think it’s a case of they are boys toys, they are priced easy enough to collect a few and they can be useful as well..... In the US it's part of the EDC (everyday carry) culture, along with sunglasses, wallets, torches & guns. I've even seen videos where people match a gun to the watch they are wearing!!

    • @watchandrew
      @watchandrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matching guns and watches is a world away!! And I think it’s illegal to carry a knife ~ all my sunglasses have always been cheap ones as I break them, but I do have 2/3 Swiss army kinfes but I’ve got a big collection of pens which is ridiculous really,,, but I do like a nice pen 🤣
