The problem comes from being forced to extend from the foundations with triangle roof tiles because you're locked into the hexagonal grid form the get go. If triangles lost half the stability they currently do it would work a lot better.
It's a RP dlc. They look more pleasing than a clunky foundation on top of a tree top. For players on console it is a awesome addition due to the fact that they can't use mods.
I think the treehouse foundations look better from the underside when attached to trees or cliffs. The blocks, especially in trees, look like a hack. The treehouse foundations look more like they belong there. They give you extra options for the appearance of what you're building, which is always a good thing.
I have to state the obvious: treehouse foundations are meant for building round buildings, so it is completely useless to compare them with square foundations. Then you missed two things that make the difference. First, the looks. In a tree, having foundations just sticking in trees is ugly, ok you can cover it up with roof pieces, but that makes the foundation even chunkier. The treehouse foundations are a lot more elegant. Second, to make the centerpiece of your circle, all 6 wedge foundations need a point of contact, or you loose stability by filling the gaps with ceilings. That's where the treehouse foundation is really good. It just needs one single point of contact and your whole centerpiece has full stability. So in the end, if you want to build round buildings in trees, the treehouse foundation is a lot more elegant, gives you a lot more freedom to build platforms where you like and you can extend the circles to the maximum. If you want to build square in trees, use pillars and ceiling pieces. Same stability as foundations, but not as chunky.
I have to say, the base built with the tree house foundation at 9:32 looks significantly better than the one built with traditional wood foundations. Having the squared-off walls without the jagged edges is much better looking. Maybe this could be achieved using wedge foundations instead of square foundations, but as you observed in your last video, this really is an RP DLC, not necessarily aimed at competitors, so aesthetics really is the goal. And as you pointed out in the video, goal achieved. It doesn't "help" you, unless your goal is to just make something more immersive and/or aesthetically pleasing to your RP characater.
They look better from below. That's it. It also kind of makes sense that hexagonal pieces would be the main structure for treehouses. I think it's all visual cosmetic. I'd love to see how the rope bridges work. (how they snap together and whatnot)
I bought it and am very happy with it. I think they look great and honestly most of the structures you built I personally feel the treehouse foundations looked better. They sold an RP dlc and we got an rp dlc.
@unga Dunga yes the rp community is larger than the pvp community. but some of the servers are a bit.. well.. uncivil. white listed servers are the place to go for non cringe rp
I feel the problem is an existing one: the stability on wedge ceiling pieces and the treehouse foundations basically forcing you to use those due to their shape.
Yeah, let's just ignore the fact that they actually look nice compared to a giant block of foundations. The benefit is the aesthetics. I know I'll be using some in my future builds.
To be honest, size of treehouse is more of a problem because of stability. To make it simple: square ceilings take 20 stability each the more they spread just like wedge ones, but wedge ones can't spread in a straight line, so they cannot be spread as far as square ones. And treehouse foundation forces the builder to use wedges. Treehouse foundations are less about space, but more about aesthetics - roughly round buildings are much more beautiful than giant cubes. And all the problems mentioned are not problems of treehouse foundations themselves, it's just about wedges in general. It'd be cool if Funcom do something about wedges stability, so we can, for example, build animal pens in a semi-circles with roofs that can be actually closed, not just in 7x10 square bricks.
The point tips on the foundation in the tree are so you can connect the bridge parts....I thought it was a obvious extra square for this but I guess not
Agree, these things are totally underwhelming. To get any decent amount of symmetrical space you have to have a forest of pillars supporting the thing, which is not aesthetically pleasing. And while we are on the subject of building piece anomalies, the Arena set provides an arched ceiling piece, the "Arena Vaulted Ceiling 5603", but no corresponding wedge piece, so building any type of tunnel that is not completely straight, or does not use hard right angles, is completely impossible. I think the community would be interested in your take on this.
Hey, FireSpark, my main man for daily video goodness! Funcom explained during the very recent Q&A stream with the lead designer that they can't make the DLC sell ANY sort of advantage at all. That's why they had to make the rope bridges require support. This opened my eyes to why Funcom doesn't allow the DLC to provide any advantage over Vanilla, and I have to reluctantly agree with them or else they would be accused of making Conan Exiles "pay-to-win." I have to respect that they don't want to make any DLC become mandatory to win in PvP. It stinks that this is why we can't have nice things, and it is why I always prefer single-player games with mod support, such as Fallout 4 or Skyrim. Thanks again for my Minimum Daily Requirement of Video Goodness!
I think the purpose was to have building mats that don't look boxy, clumsy and stupid for trees and to look more like actual tree house structures. The boxy foundations on trees look horrible, lol. IMO.
They look better, that's it. I don't see a problem here and don't understand what you dislike about them. They are great for people who like aesthetics. :)
I built tree houses fine before this. The only things that caught my interest with the DLC are rope bridges and stages, but... Given rope bridges act like regular ceilings, they're useless, and stages are kind of something that need to be added to all sets, or vanilla sets at the least. Don't know about anyone else, but... I like my stuff to match. So yah, this DLC as a whole is a no for me, which is a shame.
Funcom likes to add new shiny things to distract the player away from the fact that they haven't fix the bugs in the game. I think they will continue to pump out new content to gloss over the problems in the game until the money dries up and then they will just abandon it or create a new shiny game and do it all over again.
They are a DISADVANTAGE because they only have 100,000 health. 6 wedge foundations have 100,000 health EACH! Using treehouse foundations makes it easier for someone to wreck your base. They SUCK!
For an architect, in the battle of foundations vs triangle foundations, always the triangle wins. Because they give the possibility to build nicer. It's just an option.
its aesthetics, if this had any other advantage then it would be broken. whilst saying that, they are far more useful imo. Advanced wedge techniques are required for slightly bigger bases. Treehouse bases aren't supposed to be bigger or stronger, the advantage is being above most tools of breaching them, that's why castles either have tall walls, some form of trench/moat or are built high up. One could say they are purely for cosmetics, the tradeoff is worth it. I don't understand how you think they aren't good for cosmetics, foundation blocks are literally blocky... having a stone block stick out of a tree, being able to see the bottom of a brick... just weird aesthetically. The treehouse blocks look nice and go well with the wooden ceilings, especially since they aren't block-shaped, they transition into the ceilings a lot better. Snapping is weird but you can use walls/stairs to snap them into place for upper levels, and it looks 10 times better than foundation blocks.
For RP purposes the DLC was pretty good. I have a cool tavern at my base. But I wasn't too impressed with the treehouse platforms. Armors are OK. Great video btw.
I did find them quite fiddly to use when I got the chance, I think just something like how ark has them would of been nice, or allow us to have ceiling segments also at the same price as normal ceiling/foundation. How are you finding the rope bridges? I found them to need a longer stretch
I found a way to extend the rope bridges forever with no support lol but yes they are crap as well and should have worked like the horizontal elevators or the dynamic bridge mod in Ark.
I've found that if you also make sandstone or stonebrick foundation, stairs and fence pieces, you can make some really nive rope bridges and cliffside walkways. The formula I've used so far is: Stairs and foundation piece, then either 1 or 2 long rope bridge pieces, then foundation with fence on the sides, repeat as needed to cross the relevant gaps
It’s a dlc based around RP community sooo yes it’s worth it for the better cosmetics you have to consider the audience and they had said when referring to the dlc that when there making this that they DONT want to make any have an advantage over the others so no they didn’t change how the new dlc pieces work bc that would give an advantage sooo yeah if your not interested in reskined items that are only cosmetic then the dlc probably arnt what your looking for lol
As with all the paid DLC it's ONLY cosmetic differences. They look cleaner at the bottom. Maybe some folks like the style better. In PvE, cosmetics are more important than PvP. If it was Better, it'd be pay to win.
the heigth of them is smaller so u can save space vertically.. u can make a floor.. then a new floor on a new foundation... the old foundation takes up more space vertically
It's annoying that the tree foundations cost so much and take so long to craft (the same as steel reinforcements in a bench but you have to wait for them to craft yourself). I bought this DLC and suggest you only buy it if you want the clothing pieces and maybe the emotes? Definitely the worst DLC they've produced. Thanks for highlighting this FS👍
I love building with wedge pieces bit I think they need to be remapped due to high stability loss. The way it is now you can't spand nearly as far as I'd like to make a reasonable size area to work from. And as one of my other fav TH-camr stated, "the bridges don't spand nearly far enough" to give a reason to use unless for the looks
I see that as a tier lower it does not offer a advantage at all. Another cosmetic feat. If they made the stability 120 instead of 100 for the foundation it might add to the disadvantages over vanilla shapes. as for raiding busting one of these in a raid vs triangles are far inferior. since climbing up a narrow triangle vs a open treehouse foundation. Also the fact you can not stack will hinder it. The only "advantage" is if someone can make them float in air like in all other dlcs that came before. What would have been more beneficial are variable size snap ceilings and foundations. all of these new "dlc" models are just re-textures. My other complaints are from before, loading in on console when approaching a base. They wont achieve it with this game but maybe next gen consoles. Since most of the things that they make are brute forcing the engine. With cheap enterprise ram in the future I can see this. all ue4 engine needs a massive upgrade for hyperthreading utilization on vms. This is because of geometry complexity since you need to render every block - funcoms mistake, "even the sides that are covered" On Pc the 1080 ti I still only have 67% utilization. to much is cpu bound where it can be streamlined. At least if hyper threading was properly optimized custom servers can use ie threadrippers/ epyc platforms but the case has been single core for ai and logic base. I even tried to harbor the geometry off to a gpu but ue4 with conan server side cant do it. Personally wish more game engines can do that type of hardware coverage/ optimization. - TLDR- Long time fan and admin of servers most run from home and some from monthly data centers on there vm's. Did Aws (amazon web services once) only heavily used a few threads on a 64 core epyc with 2 tb of ram.
in their defense. i do find them useful when planning a base. its easier to picture what your going to build by holding an octagon than trying to eye ball it all with a wedge piece.
i know a method. put a triangle foundation close to the big tree. then you put the tree house foundation into the centre of the tree. now you dismantle the triangle and replace with tree house. now base on the centre tree house you can make 6 tree house foundation together making a big base
@@Firespark81 - what he's saying is you place a triangle foundation down first - point outwards. You then attach the treehouse foundation to the flat side of the triangle that's clipped into the tree. It takes some practise and fiddling because you're effectively placing the price blindly inside the tree. But from there he's saying you can attach more treehouse foundations outwards to give a larger platform. I've not tried this myself but I understand the technique he means, I use similar techniques when trying to clip ramps into cliff walls. It sounds like it would end up looking more like an ark style foundation but I don't think it would eliminate any of the drawbacks pointed out in your video. Experimentation would be needed to saying anything more definitive.
I was okay with the functionality (placing) of the piece as now I can make a tower base on the smallest outcrop. I was disappointed in the fact it is temperature neutral, and they didn't make a wood based (treehouse) teir-3 hot weather building pack to go with it ( also the curtains can't be dyed)
You’re comparing “round” structures to square structures. I think if you compare “round” treehouse to “round” vanilla you’ll see some advantage to the treehouse. I.e. try connecting triangles around the tree instead of squares. I don’t have this pack but I think it should be a slight plus for people who like the aesthetics of building with triangles.
for me, building on pvE server, its all about the look of my buildings, and thats where i really like those new foundations. the building on the rock at 4:03 is ugly as ***. with the treehouse thats looks wayyy bettter (my opinion). same with the building in the jungle at 5:17. with the vannilla pieces it looks ugly with the edges with 90° corners since we cant use triangles to round off theese corners. and it looks ugly with theese vanilla foundations sticking out of the tree under the plattform. same goes for the top of the tree. but thats just a matter of tase and for pvE buildings maybe steamcommunity.com/app/440900/discussions/0/133256240729015296/
Are you complaining that the DLC isn't pay to win? This is good news tbh. Its just for aesthetics, but this whole DLC pack seems like a ripoff tbh. I don't usually bash Funcom, but this pack was an embarrassment to ask people to pay you for when its content that honestly should just be free. I mean, come on, its mostly emotes and the same reused placables over and over with no super unique looks.
Jr2nd no, he wants a good pack that adds fun aesthetics, vanity, and alternate items to the game, and not a pay to win filled mess or a pack with nothing in it.
I think conan is a fantastic game for building bases, and they should expand on this as much as possible. What i think they are missing is more angled pieses to allow for more natural corner and house shapes. Also wooden beams and struts to support roofs. Like how you would support a roof in real life. I welcome this New treehouse stuff but im not going to buy it 😂
I bought it. And, I agree, they could be better. Over all though, As you said, they can’t be advantageous over vanilla and they’re essentially six wedge foundations combined as one. They behave identical and the only difference is cosmetic (which again is the aim of the dlc’s). BUT a solution, like you mentioned. Would be them letting you build out a smidge farther. Increase treehouse foundation stability to 120 or 130 from the base 100 for foundations since it technically is six combined. Not a ton more stability but just enough to make it different from other foundations besides being six locked. In conclusion, I concur. Lol
So it's not more material. The treehouse foundation is tier 3. A tier 3 wedge costs 8 Hard Brick, 2 Shaped wood, 2 Steel Reinforcements. The treehouse foundation is 48,16,16 the same cost as 6 tier 3 wedge foundations. The only loss would be how much of the foundation is stuck into the map.
FS said the vanilla wood was tier 3 but it's actually tier 2. So the cost is lower (insulated wood and iron reinforcements rather than hardened brick, steel reinforcements, and shaped wood).
pointing out devs being lazy is not salty. they are cheating us, this stuff costs money and they are giving us trash. if anything Firespark is warning you not to waste money on this "broken promise" of a dlc
@@kortniechanGaming This is an optional update that is obviously focused on the RP community. They seem to be happy to finally be getting some love from the devs and I have seen some really cool stuff they have done with this already. Saltyspark has just built up a following of disgruntled players in a big whine community so he is just doing his job as leader of that. It seems like that name fits him better now.
@@g4m3rm0j0 i understand your point, but you must understand ours as well. what we are "expecting" and wanting out of these new building pieces is not something that's unreachable and to much to ask for. i've seen the same thing happen with ark, awesome ideas and mechanics added to the game but executed extremely poorly. Just think about how stupid suspension bridges look with fucking pillars under them. it negates the whole reason for the piece. they could have made the bridges new pieces that do not need pillar support but they didn't. they took the easy route and just re-skinned the ceiling tile by a dif name. We all love this game so much and when some of us see them half assing great ideas/additions it angers us. the salt is not unwaranted. its deserved. all the rp stuff is bad ass i am stoked about all of it, but call it the pub dlc or something the only thing in this dlc that has anything to do with Derketo is the red drapes. i personally would have liked more lore ore something unveiling more of the Derketo mystery. that's just my take on it though, have an awesome day man it was fun discussing this stuff with ya.
@Rob R I love how every time I have an opinion that is not kissing the devs ass I get called salty or bitchy and when I do complement the devs I get called a kissass and a fanboy lmao. People are allowed to have opinions and they don't always have to agree or disagree with the choices or opinions of others. Oh, and by the way, my community is not full of disgruntled players. It's mostly players who really enjoy the game, play it a lot and understand the game and Funcom has their flaws. My community is an amazing bunch of people and I wont put up with anyone talking shit about them. Also, do be a favor and go tell your mom she needs to teach you how to be respectful to others and how to view the world more objectively because it is obviously something she has failed to teach you.
Not sure you read thes ,, on the server's i play on we not alowed to use Foundations ,,, so not sure if i want to buy this DLC ,, can make one with out Foundations
Like you always say.. Good idea.. poor execution and they do it every time! I’m having the same issue.. What’s worse is they’re off colored too so they don’t mix with other things and ALL game devs do this with their DLCs! Nothing new mixes with the old so you’re stuck with what they give you and that’s it. They’ve given us what 5 DLCs with building pieces and it’s very hard to mix and match them to make your own designs! The Arena DLC has some great ideas but that puke brown color really makes it hard to use those pieces for anything else and how often do we really want to build Arenas? It would be different if we could color the pieces or they colored them in better.. Like the arena stuff should be a flat grey color so we can make really cool structures with them but everything I make feels like a prison so why do I want to use them?
You're failing to realize they made these pieces to work on all platforms. Us console gamers don't get all the mods you pc players do. Don't think we can place regular foundations on trees up high. I'd have to test that though. I have seen regular foundations from the ground going up the side of a tree to build a tree house.
I wish they would just make a right angle triangle piece to make corners. I get that it's equilateral so the walls all fit on each side. But would it be that hard to have the wall snap to a line perpendicular to the hypotenuse that is the same dimension as the right angle faces that intersects with the right angle sides slightly offset from the long edge of the foundation and just use all the same wall pieces?
@@topazprism77 That's why I suggested offsetting the wall slightly to match the dimension. Since the hypotenuse is longer it could be offset inward. Or there could just be a code to stretch the wall texture from a certain point in the texture map to match the new wall dimensions. You could even maintain the aspect ratio of the texture and crop the remaining parts. Or if it has a line then stretch along that line from a certain coordinate.
Funcom are just laughing at players, selling dlc's and unfinished product. Missing Arena fence foundation on the Blood and Sand DLC, cosmetic in frontier etc. Bringing more and more bugs every updates. The Gods as been disabled for what, 3 month now? I bought the game for something that i just can't play with ... it's a fraud! but HEY, apparently mounts are coming, to make us forget about the gods!
The only thing I can think of is maybe a bit better with server stability, as using them would be 1 foundation replacing 6 wedges? Maybe? but even then, since you can't stack them...I just don't know.
They really aren't a great addition and making rope-bridges is really disappointing. I can't seem to attach several together to even span across one of the tunnel passageways in the game, and I would -think- that these items would, on their own, as long as they're attached to only tree-house building pieces. would provide greater than normal stability. I'd really like to see CE provide a way to make a method for building elevator tram and rope-bridge spanning points, on both sides, before placing the rope-bridge or horizontal elevator. Or maybe I should just get a job in Oslo and push for good-sense building crafting, myself. Yeesh. #PatchDerketo
Totally agree. Hanging bridges should not have to be supported by pillars... because they hang. They should have made some other mechanic or something for them. I realize it would be harder to do than just making a hanging bridge skin and using existing mechanics... But hanging bridges should not need pillars-- i's stupid, and it looks stupid.

Hey FS, What do you do to dismantle blocks without calling the menu? Macros, 3rd party shortcuts?
@ Shift delete is the default, but difficult to press when you want to be fast. That's why I suggested rebinding it. I mapped it to a side key on my mouse.

@@MsToshi1990 It works much quicker than (hold E -> dismantle and then all over again) though I wish I had known this before I built my 45x45 pyramid :D Pretty much most of the time I just wanna dismantle a big section of the building in one go. So switching my hand to Shift+delete position isn't much of a bother. Going through all the different types of foundations and other building pieces is :D
They forgot to compress some large texture files in the dlc resulting in performance issues. It will get fixed with the next update, until it's fixed it's difficult to answere your question.
I like the placeables of this DLC, even if modeled after a bar but feel the entire DLC does not warrant the full price of $12.49 (or was it $12.39)), which is why I probably will not buy this one.
arborist foundations are essential for breaking point platform extensions,, the only problem, we cannot cover them with the reverse tiles for more protection considering it is an architectural weakness,, but very usefull to gain room, easiest way is to build starting at the top of the tree, and find its center,
You complain that it's not as big, but when you found a way to make it bigger, you say: "it's just more stuff for people to raid", I like your content, but make up your mind please
Yep, I agree regarding the DLC items. I get that the DLC is 'meant' to be a re-skin of existing stuff so that un-paying players are not disadvantaged, but there is not an equivalence. The 'Treehouse Foundation', though I like the hexite shape, does little in the long run. The only use I have had is with cliff building and not tree building. And the tree building is silly as there are not enough suitable trees close enough together to not have to drop pillars to the ground for bridging. 100% Agree with Firespark on PvP - new DLC has less to offer than expected; 77% Agree in relation to PvE as new build items always add some kind of imaginative flavour to PvE Builds. Great review.
HI Firespark loves most of your videos, but this was not one of you better video, but the Derjeto DLC was not made for PVP'ers, it was made for RP'ers, so yes. you feel disappointed, but really they said that this DLC was made for Roll paly people, you seem to be more a PVP player than someone who wants to Roleplay. this is mostly my own option, but if you look at this new build parts is not made to give any advantage other than to make treetop home and cliff home to look cooler, there not mean for base building. so if you were more of a Role player builder you see this is a great DLC. you view things as a PVP base builder, you build for an advantage to have stronghold base.
I view things from all angles, not just PVP. As a role player, you are telling me you are ok with this DLC? You are ok with an awesome looking treehouse foundation but bridges that need pillars to support them or the limited clothing options because they wanted to add 2 new sets of armor instead of adding more clothing options. Something a large part of their community has been asking for forever?
@@Firespark81 This video was full of misinformation and some biase. You are purposing ignoring some building mechanics to make this video, Your first and LAST video I will ever see
@@Firespark81 this dlc is great if used right I'm sorry to here you were so disappointed I will build with the treehouse pieces. In a tree. Note that it's for treehouse building not base building so I will take this opportunity to make my own video for you and show you what I can do that you could. Not
lol wth people lecturing him on RP/cosmetics.. it should still be comparable.. for the all of 5 seconds it would take to "do" that.. The effort (or lack of) is comparable to the DLC name which makes no sense..
lol, looking for the clickbait controversies eh, Firespark? I see you liked a comment further down below saying funcom are a completely useless company and the franchise would be better off in a triple aaa game makers hands. A strange sentiment from somebody who's played this particular game as much as yourself and filled so much youtube content on their channel with it. Shame it's such a stretch though i mean, your grumbling because a reportedly (by funcom) cosmetic piece designed (to avoid pay to win) to work as previous pieces. (pay attention, they specifically say this in the relevant stream) is exactly that. It's a cosmetic piece that works exactly as the vanilla . you prove so in your vid. While I'm here, what's with your shenanigans (i know you like that word, i watch your vids a lot.) at around 9.46 in your vid? I know you have built enough in Conan Exiles to know what pieces are necessary to fill the gap you mess about putting square panels in before filling it with the triangular panels it so obviously requires. i am a builder and could see the needed pieces instantly. I think you were pretending ignorance to make controversy. Funcom can't change the rules of geometry. You just ran a competition for building to attract folk to your server. Are you seriously telling me you cant see how this dlc could be handy in making more of the pretty buildings you highlighted in a number of vids. Seriously dude i was considering joining and coming to your server to show you some of my building skills. now maybe not so much. I don't expect you to be uncritical and have agreed with many of your gripes in previous vids but this is a real stretch, kinda bull***t for clicks. What exactly did you expect no pay to win advantage foundations to do?
The DLC's do have pay to win mechanics in them! You can gain a rather large advantage with the armors. So what would it have hurt to make and actual useful treehouse building piece? It would give less of an advantage than the freaking armor. Its a load of crap and a stupid bullshit money grab aimed at miss informed people. So no this video is not clickbait. It's to inform people who may buy the DLC because they think the treehouse foundation is something it is not. And yes I can see how it could be used to create a specific look for a build. That is pretty much all they are good for and that wasn't the point of the video. And I expected them to allow you to build in a tree or a cliff in a fun and intuitive way that makes building in those locations easier like the ones in Ark. Passive-aggressive toxic comments like this really freaking irritate me.
@@Firespark81I'm Not sure why you think i was being passive aggressive toxic, i thought was being quite open and honest about my opinion , which doesn't coincide with your own. (i mean i won't deny i was giving you a bit of a poke to see if you'd squeak. but i think passive aggressive toxic is a bit strong. ya know, i'm saying i was teasing you.) For the record I don't play Ark so I can't comment on any comparison of the foundation piece there. i am of the personal opinion that Conan Exiles building system is in and of itself fun and intuitive and that the treehouse foundation does not particularly add anything super innovative but neither does it detract or mean you can't use them to build into a cliff in a new and innovative way as you would with any other piece. Forgive me if I am in error here but i don't remember a comparison with the ark piece in your vid so although that knowledge helps me understand a little of exactly what your confounded expectations were without playing ark or there being a direct comparison in your vid I'm still not that much wiser. I'm pretty sure that in the dev stream i watched funcom never marketed the piece as anything other than a more aesthetically pleasing foundation for trees. Is it really fair to bring your own expectations to the table and then deride funcom on that basis So last night i had a pizza from the takeaway, it fed me for that meal with a couple of slices left over, I ate them today and... done, no problem there, it was a decent pizza I was nourished. the dlc is coincidentally the same price. I also bought it. I still have the dlc to use in game for as long as I play. Now I'm comparing chalk and cheese here obviously but the pizza contained a number of toppings, the dlc a number of items. I wasn't particularly enamored of the peppers on my pizza but overall it was a pleasant experience. I'm not arguing that you are probably aware of a better treehouse foundation from ark but overall it was, in my opinion a pleasant experience. were I to have bought the pizza solely for the peppers I may have been much sadder, were I to have bought the dlc solely for the foundation piece l might have been disappointed. I thought both were fairly priced for what they were. Hardly a cash grab. However both are package deals and better evaluated in the round in order to give a fair impression. Your first video on the dlc did just that, this one, not so much. It is surely a pretty small number of people buying the dlc solely for the foundation and even if they did and were disappointed does the rest of the dlc contenrt offer no compensation. But if you want to know what irritates ME and why I felt the need to push back against the overall tone of your vid, it's this, and I shall requote myself from my first post as you didn't address this in your reply and it's germane to my point. "I see you liked a comment further down below saying funcom are a completely useless company and the franchise would be better off in a triple a game makers hands" If the sentiments in that post are honestly your opinion, fair enough, but that original post, which you endorsed, is way more negative and aggressive than anything I had to say. My irritation is based on your total condemnation of both funcom and the game that the endorsement of that view in the comments you gave implies. If that's how you feel then I can't be sure that you are a neutral observer and I can certainly not be pulled up for making the reasonable inference you might be biased negatively in reviews. It also made me sad that a youtuber and player whom i thought had a similar affection for the game would agree with such a standpoint. If that's truly your opinion why would you or anyone put so much time and effort and energy into a game and company which they feel is a "Clueless company only good as a publisher couldn't develop software for a calculator let alone a game like this. I wish a AAA company had this license. " You see what i mean? It's fair for you to hold that opinion but it's at odds with your play time, vids and channel content. If you really feel like that move on. There are lottsa fun games you can be positive about. If you don't move on and you feel that way, is it or is it not reasonable of me to assume you are making vids more for monetary gain than for love? Hence my questioning of the motives behind the title of your vid. Would you buy pizzas or listen to the review from someone who confessed to hating pizzas. I have heard the same negativity thrown at every dlc by some folk and then gone on to use those dlc in game to great effect. Some pieces in dlc are way more useful than others to me, other people find things i find irrelevant highly useful.. I'll see what i can do with this one and get back to you, maybe with a screenshot or two. Are funcom far from a perfect company? without doubt. Could Conan Exiles be improved? Most certainly. Does one piece in a dlc not being groundbreaking or as you expected in terms of the game warrant the negativity, accusations of cash grab and condemnation of the game and company as a whole? Not in my opinion. "why so snarkey Sparkey?" A big fat No-Prize winging it's way to whoever can first name the game that quote is from and another bonus No-Prize for the characters name.
I was trying a couple of days ago these DLC treehouse foundations for the first time, and got pretty disappointed with it. Overall I find this DLC ok but it's the one with the poorest choice of building pieces, except for the bridges. Plus, they could have added more pieces that would match the wooden texture and color of the foundation, specially ceiling pieces and pillars. On the aesthetic side, this treehouse foundation doesn't seem to be as "invasive" as common foundations are, but it just doesn't allow me to do certain things in my buildings as I wished to. Too bad.
I really wish they created inverted pieces so we could build inverted cones that start small but get larger towards the top maybe double what we could get normally. I really WANT to support this company but the building pieces are hard to justify the $10 price tag... maybe if this was $5 I would.
I just wish this group of designers wasn't so damn lazy. I bought the season pass and extra DLC items and am mostly always disappointed on how items snap together. It gets Infuriating on how bad these building parts snap and for the life of me, I don't know why these people have a job. If you can't fly...it's even more irritating.
I've used this formula to make long, stable, good looking rope bridges Foundation piece, then either 1 or 2 long rope bridges (3 units long), then foundation, and just repeat that as you need. I've put bridges across a couple of the tributaries of "Noob River", and made some fairly long cliffside walkways as well. It can be a little bit of work because often you have to build a line of foundation to the next column you want to make and then demolish the extra pieces, but it looks quite nice and does the job once its built
I bought the DLC. So far I have only used the stages and the barcounters. No use yet for the other stuff. But yeah, taking full DLC price for this was a joke.
The problem comes from being forced to extend from the foundations with triangle roof tiles because you're locked into the hexagonal grid form the get go. If triangles lost half the stability they currently do it would work a lot better.
This is quite a problem, but like others have said, this DLC is more catering to RP than to PVP.
SWORDS!!!
I was thinking along those lines.
The advantage is not having giant ugly cubes in trees
Using treehouse foundations makes it look better
They look better from below. That's it. It also kind of makes sense that hexagonal pieces would be the main structure for treehouses. I think it's all visual cosmetic. I'd love to see how the rope bridges work. (how they snap together and whatnot)
Haven't played the game in months I just came for my daily dose of video goodness.
I bought it and am very happy with it. I think they look great and honestly most of the structures you built I personally feel the treehouse foundations looked better. They sold an RP dlc and we got an rp dlc.
to be fair the debauchery dlc was for the rp community~ its the aesthetic
@unga Dunga yes the rp community is larger than the pvp community. but some of the servers are a bit.. well.. uncivil. white listed servers are the place to go for non cringe rp
@unga Dunga XD i mean cringey erpr's theirs a bunch of servers that run a mod designed for erp
I like the treehouse foundations simply because they look nice. I think their purpose is purely cosmetic.
Which is all they were ever intended for so this video is pure salt
The point tips on the foundation in the tree are so you can connect the bridge parts....I thought it was a obvious extra square for this but I guess not
You are missing The point lol . It's for looks only block foundations up in the air are ugly and not to mention stacking foundations cause lag .
I think its positive aspect is it makes your build looks neater
Agree, these things are totally underwhelming. To get any decent amount of symmetrical space you have to have a forest of pillars supporting the thing, which is not aesthetically pleasing. And while we are on the subject of building piece anomalies, the Arena set provides an arched ceiling piece, the "Arena Vaulted Ceiling 5603", but no corresponding wedge piece, so building any type of tunnel that is not completely straight, or does not use hard right angles, is completely impossible. I think the community would be interested in your take on this.
I appreciate your experimenting, I think it's clear that this was only meant to be for good looks in the tree as opposed to sturdy and functional
Hey, FireSpark, my main man for daily video goodness!
Funcom explained during the very recent Q&A stream with the lead designer that they can't make the DLC sell ANY sort of advantage at all. That's why they had to make the rope bridges require support.
This opened my eyes to why Funcom doesn't allow the DLC to provide any advantage over Vanilla, and I have to reluctantly agree with them or else they would be accused of making Conan Exiles "pay-to-win."
I have to respect that they don't want to make any DLC become mandatory to win in PvP. It stinks that this is why we can't have nice things, and it is why I always prefer single-player games with mod support, such as Fallout 4 or Skyrim.
Thanks again for my Minimum Daily Requirement of Video Goodness!
Who the hell cares if it's pay to win. That's why there is admin abuse? That's not pay to win?
They really should have gone for something like the tree platforms in ark, would have been much more useful.
I think the purpose was to have building mats that don't look boxy, clumsy and stupid for trees and to look more like actual tree house structures. The boxy foundations on trees look horrible, lol. IMO.
It looks good when you combine them too!
It's almost more like a aesthetic thing, at least that's what it seems to me
They look better, that's it.
They SUCK!
If you can get to it...the only way to get to a good treehouse is God summons and really is anyone safe from those
For an architect, in the battle of foundations vs triangle foundations, always the triangle wins. Because they give the possibility to build nicer. It's just an option.
The "perk" is in the aesthetics of them. Regular foundations in trees... ugh.
its aesthetics, if this had any other advantage then it would be broken. whilst saying that, they are far more useful imo.
Indeed
Gotta love that no butt protection armor. I'm just happy to have more boot options that don't have curly toes lmao.
@@Firespark81 Oh no really :,) .. ooppsie! Yes that would of been nice
@@Firespark81 Could you please tell us how? Cheers.
I've found that if you also make sandstone or stonebrick foundation, stairs and fence pieces, you can make some really nive rope bridges and cliffside walkways.
The formula I've used so far is:
Stairs and foundation piece, then either 1 or 2 long rope bridge pieces, then foundation with fence on the sides, repeat as needed to cross the relevant gaps
Yeah but the tree house foundations are less blocky
You can literally make those yourself.
The advantage is making pillar bases for pvp, you can make the footprint of a tower bigger than you can with regular foundations.
The treehouse foundations arent as obvious as regular foundations when you're building up in the tree canopy. Thats been MY experience
If it was better how would it be pay to win any more than the DLC armors?
the heigth of them is smaller so u can save space vertically.. u can make a floor.. then a new floor on a new foundation... the old foundation takes up more space vertically
Thanks for highlighting this FS👍
really loving your content keep up the good work :)
As far as pvp goes the bejewelled set is awesome as it is extremely cheap and good throw away defense armour
Yea DLC's give no advantage in PVP lmao. They say its all cosmetic but it really isn't.
@@Firespark81 lol not to mention if u dont have dlcs forget living in volcano after the dafari nerf
Shhh don't tell people. They may realize it's not all cosmetic.
1 thing it's better, it's more pretty than regular basement
Yeh the normal foundations look like garbage
I think it’s better aesthetically. Way better than having ugly boxes 📦... what is this... UPS for giants?! (Making my best blue steel face as I can)
in their defense. i do find them useful when planning a base. its easier to picture what your going to build by holding an octagon than trying to eye ball it all with a wedge piece.
Yeah the placebles are gr8 if your in to rp. Overall the tree house DLC is poor compared to previous dlcs
i know a method. put a triangle foundation close to the big tree. then you put the tree house foundation into the centre of the tree. now you dismantle the triangle and replace with tree house. now base on the centre tree house you can make 6 tree house foundation together making a big base
Have you tested this?
So you place the first one inside the middle of the tree? Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.
The one dislike on this video is from funcom
for me, building on pvE server, its all about the look of my buildings, and thats where i really like those new foundations. the building on the rock at 4:03 is ugly as ***. with the treehouse thats looks wayyy bettter (my opinion). same with the building in the jungle at 5:17. with the vannilla pieces it looks ugly with the edges with 90° corners since we cant use triangles to round off theese corners. and it looks ugly with theese vanilla foundations sticking out of the tree under the plattform. same goes for the top of the tree. but thats just a matter of tase and for pvE buildings maybe

Hey firespark quick question I know this isnt ur thing but could u do like a cinematic kinda thing imma sucker for that stuff.
He literally says in this video that he does NOT think it should be pay to win........................
Lol
Yeah, this is just sloppy. I hope FunCom is watching this video.
Lena its an apples to oranges comparison. My point is it’s not cheaper to build a tier 3 wedge foundation. It’s the same.
Sorry not sure who you're referring to but yes, all the DLC buildings are tier 3 as far as I know.
Reinforced Stone Wedge Foundation 8 2 2 x 6 = 48 12 12. Its slightly less m8
@@Firespark81 You're right. Not sure how I mess that math up. Sorry for the confusion.
Firespark should really be saltyspark.
Rob R lol...maybe, but he does have a point.
pointing out devs being lazy is not salty. they are cheating us, this stuff costs money and they are giving us trash. if anything Firespark is warning you not to waste money on this "broken promise" of a dlc
Treehouse foundations look alot more cooler in the trees than regular foundations. I will definetely make my jungle base with those treehouse pieces.
yes! thank you.. this is what i pointed out on your stream highlight video ^^
Still haven’t fixed meshing either
Aesthetics - that's why ;-)
Yes, we can. I play on ps4
These are great for pvp. I understand why you missed this important detail because you don’t do pvp content. Not bashing I just subbed.
I wish they would just make a right angle triangle piece to make corners. I get that it's equilateral so the walls all fit on each side. But would it be that hard to have the wall snap to a line perpendicular to the hypotenuse that is the same dimension as the right angle faces that intersects with the right angle sides slightly offset from the long edge of the foundation and just use all the same wall pieces?
a 45 degree angle would have a longer side than a square or equilateral triangle, meaning walls wouldnt fit.
If they triple the size of the tree house foundation it would work better.
It's a cosmetic thing. Pretty sure they stated that. I skipped this DLC since I only play on PvP.
Its main purpose is just to be more aestheticly pleasing for rp players. If it had any advantages then people would cry that it was pay to win.
Hey FS,
What do you do to dismantle blocks without calling the menu?
Macros, 3rd party shortcuts?
just define a key in your keyboard shortcut menu.
shift delete. But you have to be admin.
@@Firespark81 Got it, thank you :)
@ Shift delete is the default, but difficult to press when you want to be fast. That's why I suggested rebinding it. I mapped it to a side key on my mouse.
@@MsToshi1990 It works much quicker than (hold E -> dismantle and then all over again) though I wish I had known this before I built my 45x45 pyramid :D
Pretty much most of the time I just wanna dismantle a big section of the building in one go. So switching my hand to Shift+delete position isn't much of a bother.
Going through all the different types of foundations and other building pieces is :D
Oh and current advantage....you can pick up your entire base with one foundation pickup. If you are nomadic, it's very easy to pick up and go
Here's the Question I really need: Does it have the Vanilla foundation LAG problem or do they make less lag?
They forgot to compress some large texture files in the dlc resulting in performance issues. It will get fixed with the next update, until it's fixed it's difficult to answere your question.
I like the placeables of this DLC, even if modeled after a bar but feel the entire DLC does not warrant the full price of $12.49 (or was it $12.39)), which is why I probably will not buy this one.
arborist foundations are essential for breaking point platform extensions,, the only problem, we cannot cover them with the reverse tiles for more protection considering it is an architectural weakness,, but very usefull to gain room, easiest way is to build starting at the top of the tree, and find its center,
so what does this mean in plain common English?
"Yea, I'm going to call them nipples."
Whoa there, buddy. TH-cam might make you blur them out if you start calling them nipples.
Can you put the treehouse foundations on pillars at all?
which dlc is it?
why the insulated wood has the two pilars under it? maybe its better due to stability issues?
It's purely aesthetics imo.
You complain that it's not as big, but when you found a way to make it bigger, you say: "it's just more stuff for people to raid", I like your content, but make up your mind please
His comment about "it's just more stuff" was "IF" the tree foundations allowed you to build a little bigger (which they DON'T.)
Sup sparky. The Treehouse foundations maybe you can use the pillars The Treehouse Foundation out in the open just a thought my friend.
100% Agree with Firespark on PvP - new DLC has less to offer than expected;
77% Agree in relation to PvE as new build items always add some kind of imaginative flavour to PvE Builds.
Great review.
Nice video

Aquilonia if you like roman themes.
The tree house foundation has 100 stability, or is it lower like the vanilla setup?
Is it really fair to bring your own expectations to the table and then deride funcom on that basis
So last night i had a pizza from the takeaway, it fed me for that meal with a couple of slices left over, I ate them today and... done, no problem there, it was a decent pizza I was nourished. the dlc is coincidentally the same price.
"I see you liked a comment further down below saying funcom are a completely useless company and the franchise would be better off in a triple a game makers hands"
If the sentiments in that post are honestly your opinion, fair enough, but that original post, which you endorsed, is way more negative and aggressive than anything I had to say.
You see what i mean?
"why so snarkey Sparkey?"
A big fat No-Prize winging it's way to whoever can first name the game that quote is from and another bonus No-Prize for the characters name.
Why are all the temple buildings just empty time wasting things that the game loading screen encourages you to climb?
How are the rope bridges?
They are cheap
Yeah I saw a review on them and u still have to use pillars and they don't go very far
I've used this formula to make long, stable, good looking rope bridges
Foundation piece, then either 1 or 2 long rope bridges (3 units long), then foundation, and just repeat that as you need.
I've put bridges across a couple of the tributaries of "Noob River", and made some fairly long cliffside walkways as well.
It can be a little bit of work because often you have to build a line of foundation to the next column you want to make and then demolish the extra pieces, but it looks quite nice and does the job once its built
@@darthplagueis3400 yeah, would have been nice if they worked like elevator, they just auto lengthen to a tangible structure.
I bought the DLC. So far I have only used the stages and the barcounters. No use yet for the other stuff. But yeah, taking full DLC price for this was a joke.
I only use the emotes, and some barrel-wine decorations
Thanks for the info my dude
can you maybe do an other build video for best light/medium fighter with very high strength
