  • In 1999, entertainment reporter Tom O'Neill accepted a three-month assignment from a film magazine to write a story about how the infamous Charles Manson Tate-LaBianca murders that changed Hollywood. Tom missed his deadline but continued to investigate the murders, falling down a 20 year investigative rabbit hole that birthed his new book “CHAOS” which is the product of those two decades of meticulous research, hundreds of interviews, and falling-outs with publishers that led to financial and legal repercussions. Tom’s book, 'Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties' presents his research into the background and motives for the Tate-LaBianca murders committed by the Manson Family in 1969. The evidence Tom has uncovered blows massive holes in the official narrative of the Charles Manson story and exposes corruption, & cover ups, and Manson’s connection to the CIA’s MK Ultra, LSD testing, & psychological warfare mind control programs. Toms book is the holy grail of true crime and on this episode Tom tells some shocking stories that had to be left out of the book.

Rudi was such good friends with Sharon, that after she was slaughtered he sued her mother and father for damages on his house. Real nice guy!

Totally true. A creep, who knew Manson and then concealed it with Bugliosi. Apparently he had a miserable impoverished end. Good.

Tom, Sharon's last movie, 13 Chairs/ 12 + 1, wasn't a devil movie, as you said, but a comedy. You are confusing Sharon's first movie, Eye of the Devil, which was a mild horror movie, with her last movie, which was a comedy. Also, Altobelli was such a great friend to Sharon he sued her fucking family, at first for $200,000, though he eventually got $1200, because her blood ruined his shoddy carpets. Great guy. And he was the prick who actually knew Manson, along with the 3 Golden Penetrators and other celebrity low lifes, not Sharon. He still didn't tell you all he knew, I would wager, taking the rest of it to his grave; he just sucked drinks and dinners out of you. He's just one more creep in a story full of them. You said elsewhere he had an ignominious end. Good.
Ps: Tom, you don't really believe the story about Manson going to Cielo in March 69 to find Melcher, do you? You yourself got the retraction from Hatami, did you not? If it was Manson, I'll wager he went there to see Altobelli. Bet he never confirmed that, blowing the cover story he concocted with Bugliosi. What a farce this case was and is.

Are you saying Hatami did not see Manson at Cielo?

@@John-tj4up not even Hatami knew whom he saw. He couldn't identify him from his picture, but ole Bugloisi took care of that with a little witness coaching and intimidation. It may have been Manson on that property in March 69. Even Hatami wasn't sure.

I wouldn't be so enthusiastic about Tarrantino, if I were you Tom. He drowned out your book with with his dumb movie. He doesn't give a crap about facts or history, and now he has wrapped himself around this subject, which is disgusting. He's no friend to you pal, or the truth.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a fantastic movie. There's nothing wrong with two different projects being made about similar topics, especially when they're different mediums, totally different stories (one is non-fiction, the other is entirely fiction, fantastical even.) Both can be great. And both are great, in my opinion.

    • @ibrown3KC

Apparently you never saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, or else you'd know that it's completely fictionalized--hell, the ending alone is all you need to see to tell you it's not supposed to be a fact-based movie. Plus it mostly follows the lives of a fictional actor and his fictional stunt man. So yeah, there's no reason that these two pieces of media should be competing with one another. If anything they should compliment one another.

Quentin doesn't owe you a thing, my dude. Tarentino is a married man now and new father who just turned sixty whose ramping up preproduction on his final film while checking off his list the last of his passion projects while he's still got the juice and power to do it. Quentin once said if he said yes to everyone who asked him for something and gave money they wanted too from his vast fortune, he'd have made no films and have no fortune. Dude only cares about Quentin as far as what Quentin can do for him. You think writing a book is hard. Try directing a large scale Hollywood modern movie with all those super egos, Weinstein producer type sociopaths and all the while trying to keep your vision for you art. I love this man and what it took to bring this story to light and decades of devotion to do so. But, Quentin is a legend with boba fides and street cred artistically with a fan base for a reason. He time manages what limited time we all have perfectly to achieve the level of success he has professionally, personally and creatively because he zeros in and focuses blocking out all the noise to do what it takes to get it done. Sorry in order to be the brand name he is means he can't drop everything to read your freakin' book on your time line and just drop off a quarter of a mill on your doorstep like you're entitled to it more than the other million people asking him for money, his time, his endorsement, this and that all day, every day. You and the host buy in on this magical thinking narrative that Quentin could spare a few seconds to do this and give that. The fan seeking ulterior motives having agenda based magical thinking hypothetical scenario purposing where it only benefits them for their own Hollywood ending.
