I am lucky enough to have this DVD...Jill was only 34 years old when this film was made...SUCH a beautiful young woman with so much life and spirit...Rest in Peace Jill...you are loved!!
God I love this simple melody. Woke up thinking about it and couldn't find it on TH-cam because it's old and so am I. Took me 3 hrs shoveling through the crevices of my mind trying to track it down. Ist I remembered Bill Conti, but couldn't find anything, "Independent Woman", damn. Slowly I remembered her first name was possibly "Jill", but "Jill what??. 1/2 hr later "Clayburgh" came to me. Went back to IMDB and discovered it was "Unmarried Woman". It was worth the effort, just listen to this somber melody (that turns into a triumphant conclusion of "I am woman, hear me roar". LOL
God, I haven't heard this score in 40 years. What a beautiful piece of music. I just commented on this elsewhere. Bill Conti is often connected first and foremost with his score for "Rocky." But "An Unmarried Woman" is a far more substantial work. It should've gotten an Oscsr nomination.
Wonderful, thank you so much, this is one of my favourite films, I first saw it back in the late seventies in the cinema and it kindled my love for New York films. The music is brilliant. Actually Lisa Lucas and I are the same age and I often think, imagine meeting her!, I still see her as a teenager arguing with her mother, Erica, in the apartment over Phil. R. I. P. This music played in my marriage in 1988. So long time. In Brazil there not way to get music. I needed get a VHS with movie recorded and asked to a Piano player get basic song by ears. It was not perfect but it was wonderful like the music. I know not make sense to selected A Unmarried Music Theme to play in a Marriage. But the film it is not about a perfect marriage. I have married 30 years ago with this theme. I know looks no make sense to marriage with Music Unmarried. But the Film about people looks to be honest and respect real feelings were our reference to justify share a long term life shared together. I think it was Best Jill film performance.
