Thank you so much for taking the time to make videos! I am on the path to becoming an SLP, and I love to see what it’s like in real life! Would love to see a therapy room/office tour!
Love your videos! You should do a video about the praxis exam! An all things praxis video. It would be really helpful for me to know what kind of prep books or things you used.
2nd year SLP grad student here. I just recently found your channel and I'm obsessed. I can't believe I'll be starting my CF next year. Thank you so much for posting these, I love getting a peek into my future life. I love your whole aesthetic, I would love to know somethings you think all CF's need when starting out, from resources to the coffee and water bottles you love. Sort of like a CF starter kit lol
Congrats on your success in SLP grad school!! I'm in my undergrad currently majoring in early childhood education, however I'm very inspired by the work SLP's do with young children. I was wondering what undergrad major you took and if any of your classmates majored in education prior to SLP. I know CSD is popular for undergrad to pursue SLP grad school but I wanted to know if I had a shot in getting in with a degree in childhood education.
shauna S Thank you! You absolutely have a shot. My undergrad was psychology. I took the leveling courses and then applied to graduate school. Childhood education is very relevant to the field! Good luck in your endeavors.
@@sabiebabie21 Watching this video two years later and your comment caught my attention. I also recently graduated with a degree in psychology, what leveling courses did you have to take? Would you have any guidance for me?
I love watching your DITL videos! I'm going into my 2nd year in graduate school and while I love the profession, clinicals aren't always realistic for my classmates and I. I enjoy seeing your videos so I can imagine what the real world will be like!
This is so helpful! I've searched for videos like this one several times, and none of the others that I've found have been anywhere near as useful. Excited to see what else you put out! :)
Hi Mariella could you pleas do more videos on working with bilingual clients? Tips, considerations, resources you personally learnt along the way. I would appreciate that soo much! Always trying to understand how to work with this population once I graduate.
Yay, can't wait for the next one. You have a good eye... I love your office. Looking forward to that room tour. Also, where did you get your apple watch band? I NEED IT. I love seeing a fellow latinx in the SLP field. Representation is SO important.
I like your content. But as another SLP, I must say it’s hard to watch you discuss the child’s delays in front of them… wouldn’t it be more thoughtful of you to discuss that alone before you start therapy
Hola Mariela. 🙏
Love your videos!! A quick question , do you normally sit side by side for therapy? I find it’s quite helpful to sit facing so the child can see your mouth movements 💗
Maybe my first few months I planned. But now as a seasoned SLP I do not plan activities. I have my go to activities. And know my materials and how to target goals. With time you build confidence and no longer need to plan.
Hola Mariella, soy estudiante de SLP en Nueva Zelanda. En los EEUU, hay que hacer cursos adicionales para registrarse como SLP bilingue o sea lo mismo?
Hi, did you have to get any further education on bilingual speech therapy? I was just wondering how to go about being one after getting a masters degree in csd.
Hi how are you :) I am pursuing speech pathology and love your videos I am about to transfer to university for my bachelors. I love your videos! I have a question. I speak Spanish and English but my Spanish isn’t perfect I can speak and understand but there are some words that I do not know so I speak Spanglish! I understand and speak a lot it’s just I’m not Perfect. With that being said would I still be considered a bilingual speech pathologist?
I’m going to have my BSE Early Education and BS In communication science and disorders. Could I potentially become a SLP is I finish my masters in communications and disorders?
Your videos help me envision my life as a speech pathologist. Can't wait! Love your aesthetic by the way!
