      @Hickeroar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I love the feature-set of the Hyundai, and in a video like this it definitely feels like Hyundai wins, but across the board Hyundais just don't age very well. Sure they have a great warranty, but you really NEED that warranty because they typically tend to have a lot of midlife problems. With a Honda...the things just last for-freakin-ever. This would be a hard choice for me honestly, but I would probably accept the feature loss and go with the Honda just because I know I could trust it, and my local dealer adds a lifetime powertrain warranty to their Hondas.
      EDIT: I know this is totally opinion, but the exterior design of the Accord definitely looks way nicer to me than the Sonata. Much better stance, much more premium looking design, etc. The Interior of the Sonata is the opposite though. That dash is really nice looking.

    • @jraheemjefcoat429
      @jraheemjefcoat429 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Hickeroar Not necessarily, true. Hyundai and Kia are building cars a lot better, thanks to German Engineers And Designer Peter Schryer and Albert Beirmann. One of my good friends drives a 2015 Honda Accord and the interior already looks old. I remember owning a 2008 Acura TL and I had cracks all over my dashboard. The dealer charged me almost $2K to replace the whole dash. I currently drive a 2018 fully loaded Hyundai Elantra and aging very well. And I get a lot of compliments on how new my car looks and the up keep on the interior. Even a friend of mine who drives a Corolla was like man, I wish my car had this or that. Hyundai and Kia are no longer basic crappy cars from the 90's and 00's. It has really improved on the style and technology. But my gripe with Honda is why they didn't add a Panoramic roof to their Accords? Hyundai and Kia were the first non luxury family cars to have that feature. Toyota finally got on board and add one as an optional feature. But I just think people just can't get over the Hyundai and Kia names due their past reputations. But you have to admit, with all the tech features Hyundai and Kia is dishing out. It's very price competitive. That parking feature is only reserved for cars like the Tesla or German luxury cars. To have Hyundai/Kia implement that to their cars is mind blowing! Hyundai/Kia already won in my book. When the 2021 Kia Optima is released later this year, I'm definitely trading my car in for that.

    The Sonata is the better value. Thousands cheaper, better warranty so you have more years to drive worry-free, more standard features on all trims even the base, all safety features are standards as well and the 360 camera view or blindspot and self parking usually only founs in top trim BMW, Audi and Mercedes are the best features as well.
    The 18inch tires on the Sonata will make the drive smooth instead of the Accords 19 whicha have a very thin sidewall and will make the drive on rough roads very uncomfortable and the cabin louder. Sonata also has double glass to block road sounds.
    Sonata has heated steering wheel and large panoramic sunroof. The longer warranty alone means the car is basically solid. If anything was to break you havr a big window to get the dealership to fix it.
    Yes Accord nust like thr Camry has veen aroung longer so established a name but since 2011 Hyundai and KIA has been putting out great cars.
    I'd but the Sonata. Besides, nobody wants to keep a car more than 10 years before getting bored and buying a newer car. We're talking 2030 there might be way more advaced and that's about the time Sonata's warranty will be running out. Honda will be out by 2025 so after paying all that money, the owner will be on their own. Lol

    I still don't trust Hyundai's build quality. I've known the brand since the 90's and their cars were never durably made. Couple that with new, gimmicky, unproven tech and I become even more apprehensive about the brand.
    Plus, they've always lifted the designs of other cars, which they continue to do to this day. I remember they had a Sonata, back in the early to mid 2000's, which was almost a mirror image of a Jaguar XJ sedan of similar timeline. These days they've become even more emboldened with an amalgamation of multiple manufacturers' designs in both their Hyundai and Genesis brands.

However, proven reliability, resale value, fit and finish and power under hood are most important to me when considering a vehicle purchase. I am not going to purchase either of these but I have no problem with paying a little more a month for proven quality and reliability. I bought 2011 sonata and at that time I didn’t knew the importance of warranty. I didn’t do a single service till I sold it in 2018. Only tire, filters and oil change. I own restaurants and bought food items in extreme bulk. I used my sonata to it’s full capacity and still not a single time it gave me a hard time. In 2016, I got a recall and upon visiting dealer they said that Hyundai changed engines in 2016 so instead of changing something in 2011 sonata engine, they would change the entire engine for free (and provided Elantra for four months for free while they fix new engine). I had 73k miles on Sonata at that time. Dealer said that they will honor my warranty since my car was 4 years 10 months in and under 100k. I got unbelievable price return because of the fact that entire engine has been changed after 73k. I became lifetime fan of Hyundai and now own 2019 Santa Fe with all the confidence in brand. Few of my friends own Honda (2011)and Camry (2012)but they also had to accept that Hyundai is a underdog and they even bought Hyundai as their second car in 19 and 20. Sonata’s reliability is unbelievable.

    Honda Accord over sonata any day

  • @JulezWinnfield

    The Sonata's 181hp falls far behind the Camry (301hp), Accord (252hp), Mazda 6 (250hp), and the Altima (248hp). The exterior is hit and miss for me but the interior design and next gen technology is a home run. The upcoming Hyundai Sonata N is supposed to offer 290hp so that might be worth checking out.

    Full disclosure, when I first saw the all new Sonata, I thought Hyundai was overcompensating and went overboard w/ the redesign. However, after seeing this side by side comparison, I applaud Hyundai for taking a risk w/ its mainstay. The latest Sonata is certainly a looker, the digital key card, and the park assist certainly sets the Sonata apart. The 10.25in. head unit is integrated into the dash perfectly and actually looks like it belongs there. The display looks right at home in the Palisade, but Hyundai pulled it off in the Sonata. Drew and Mason, another exceptional side by side comparison. It would be awesome if you reviewed a 2020 Volvo S90 on your channel to see what's new for Volvo's flagship sedan, S90 might not be popular in Lexington.

    I was completely disappointed after seeing the Sonata in person... It looks great on camera but in person it honestly still doesn’t compete with Honda or Toyota as far as looks/quality goes.

    I leave your comparison videos with all the info I need except for one thing, how do the 2 cars compare regarding comfort and isolation. Otherwise, Your comparison videos are really good. Informative and to the point.

    8:30 You could've given half point to the Accord because it has tuning knob and hard buttons, something Yuri and Jakub from the straightpipes complained about in the Sonata that is lacking

    • @kokopuffs5789

      And then you have to give a whole point to the Sonata for having the best lane keep assist in the biz

    for me i love the accord more. the sonata looks extremely modern in the interior which is nice so more people may lean towards it, but the sonata exterior to me is ugly... too long and and ugly grill ... Accord is so beautiful love the door handles and interior 😍

    I'd take the Accord over the Sonata every day. Hyundai has lots of glitz but too much breaks over time. Seen this too often in cars friends and family had and most moved on from Hyundai. I hope that's been fixed in 2020 but I'm sure not gonna be the guinea pig.
    At this price point though the Camry XSE V6 is the one to buy.

      It was the same with Sony TVs or Panasonic TVs over those of Samsung and LG. Overall build quality of Japanese cars is out of the question, however that does not mean they will take the advantage of it forever. If not, how could we expect Tesla which is a young player in automotive industry.

    I really appreciate this video since I'm actually buying my first car and my top 2 picks were these two cars. I was already leaning towards the Sonata but this video helped reassure my opinions and I'm feeling much more confident on my choice. Thanks a lot and great vid.
