In the 70's I bought "Manthing" and "Werewolf" comics, among other titles by Marvel. Nobody's artwork would have been any better suited for these two titles than Ploog's. NOBODY. It's like looking at Wrightson, Frazetta and Alcala all rolled into into one. Truly an iconic artist.
Fun fact - I know Mike and he took this idea to Dreamworks, they said they didn’t like it. Then a couple years later they released Ice Age. They almost certainly stole the idea from him.
