    Joining Watts in August. Cannot wait.
    What I've learned from his process in this video (might add to this later because it's something I watch every other day)...
    head layins: Loomis + Reilly with some sightsize techniques that he probably no longer needs
    define the edges you can see (hard, soft, sharp, lost)
    block in midvalues
    define more nuanced edges
    create more nuanced shadows
    darken the darkest darks/adjust values
    texture + edge detail
    repeat the last 4 until finished

    feels less like a speed drawing and more like performance art. Depicting a man age through the natural process of drawing hehe love it!!!

    Your drawing is like poetry :) Amazing.
    I don't know if it is the style that requires it, but i thought the drawing is just a little flat, especially on the hat. The shading could have been in the direction the hat and the cheeks turn, to make it look more solid.
    But I can't complain about an art master's art work :) I am preparing for a long haul career in art. Hope to some day train in your Atelier.

    • @just4skyrim

      Probably because it's a 45 min drawing

    • @Rembrandt133
      @Rembrandt133 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +joey Note, as just4skyrim stated, it is a quick drawing and so not much time will be invested in the overall aspect of the whole drawing. I believe Jeff was aiming for more refined work on the actual portrait/face itself which I feel he did well. The hat is NOT the main subject of this drawing and did not need to be emphasized to such a degree in the time allotted. I hope that is clear. Over all I feel it is a nice drawing and effort. Cheers.~

      45 minutes is very quick.

    • @PHeMoX
      @PHeMoX 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It only has lost it's meaning to those who never have spend 20+ hours on a single drawing striving for perfection I'd say. I wish I could achieve a result as good as this in only 45 minutes. It would take me 2-3 hours, maybe more.
