Great tips! We're starting to look at retirement options and currently live in Atlanta where the rain and traffic are becoming a real nuisance.
Lists of best places to live are all subjective. Naples was named number 1 recently. I lived in Naples for 8 years. The home prices are ridiculous- the HOA situation is horrendous- HOAs tell you what you can do and not- to add insult to injury when we were moving despite NEVER having any chargeable "offenses" they charged us $350 to search our record before they will sign off on our selling. Red tide in Naples was the pits. Traffic throughout SWFL is TERRIBLE_ so many accidents with clueless drivers- the area is OVERBUILT! We went to Sarasota several times and the traffic near that mall was so bad- we stopped at Applebees for lunch and a server told us as it was not "season: the traffic was not bad. Really? It was terrible! Anyone trying to get insurance can whistle dixie- auto, home owners and through the roof expensive and even Medicare and umbrella coverage is more in Florida. Try and get a decent Dr who is not concierge. Medical care is sorely lacking- long waits to see doctors. The people who moved to the Sarastoa, Fort Meyers, Bonita, Naples, Marco area since covid are nasty, rude and self entitled. So keep your lists they mean nothing at all! I dreamt of living in Florida until I did- oh and living through Irma and having my pool cage and roof damaged and dealing with the oppressive heat 7 months out of the year were the topping on the cake.
What time is it there? Either super early or super late in the day. The beach hardly ever looks like that.

Where should I stay for a few days to experience the city? Downtown?
Staying downtown is great or there are many wonderful airbnbs to check out as well.
This is a realtor pitch full of BS that doesn’t reflect ALL THE NEGATIVES IN PURCHASING REAL ESTATE IN FLORIDA TODAY!😅
