    Except for the lighter. The lady who's heart he captured was his high school choir director's daughter. They both worked at Disney and he married her. They did a video of her hearing loss which sounds depressing but that couple are so good together, it was a joy to listen and learn about them. She had a cameo in Golden Hour, also in Daddy Sang Bass and in Monster Mash. She is his production manager. Sounds of Silence is one that I adore.

    Geoff has a smooth West Virginia twang that comes through on his solo work. It was strong in his John Denver cover too. He's just so smooth in his entire range. His arrangements are so unique but they work. The more I listen to him the more I love his higher range and his harmonizing with himself

    I loved your reaction 😁 (and giggled along with your bad jokes, so I guess I've got a similar punny sense of humour). I thoroughly enjoyed this one from Geoff - such a creative take on an iconic song. He somehow keeps managing to be surprising every time. Also, he released a short snippet of him singing this live on his Patreon without any kind of production and it was incredible - he's the real deal.

    Geoff uses some instrumentation in solo work. Never intrusive, but like the perfect and needed addition.
    Geoff looks like a lanky version of Fabio - the famous and hunky romance novel model since the 1980's. Luckily for you, and other men, Geoff has been happily married for many years and his wife is his producer, so she approves his open shirt look.

    3 videos you should look up for that 'Geoff range' thing you were talking about (the low and the high): Oogie Boogie's Song, and Little Mermaid Medley by VoicePlay, and Geoff from his channel covering the Beatles' Blackbird. Now, I know what you're thinking: Little Mermaid? Seriously? Trust me, on a vocal level, it'll knock your socks off. Because Geoff fortunately knows a little magic....

    I always like to see people’s reactions to Geoff’s performances and I have not seen anyone not be impressed by his range. If you are interested in hearing more of his work I would probably suggest blackbird but to be honest pretty much all of his work is great. I would also recommend Voiceplay which is the a cappella he is apart of. Everyone in the group is very talented and all of their work is incredible.

    Geoff has used a light touch of instruments in his solo work. He plays keyboard in Blackbird and there's a violin (that I suspect Layne plays) in Misty Mountains. Also, he's been quoted as saying that he considers himself a "baritone with bass tendencies." Heh.

    That actually wasn't a bad joke, it's true. It's a thing called "text painting," where the contour of the melody matches the context of the lyrics. So to descend a scale on (or following) the word "down" makes perfect sense.

    Loved your reaction, made me laugh! I love this one, but it took a couple of hearings before the beginning clicked for me. From 1.00 on - absolute perfection. Now I'm addicted to it. You mentioned boy bands.... you should check out VoicePlay's Boy Bands in 5 Minutes.... They share the lead (as they usually do) but Geoff has some wonderful moments and the whole thing is hilarious. I think the thing I love most about Geoff & VoicePlay is that they are absolute beasts when it comes to making beautiful music - but while they take the music seriously, they don't take themselves seriously. They're not afraid to just have fun and create silly jokes inside their performances. I don't know if Geoff is the lowest or not. I do know I've never heard more beautiful low notes than the ones he sings.

    Geoff uses light instrumentation on his solo work kind of like a non-compete with his a capella work with VoicePlay. It's his way of keeping them different. He usually does the instrument tracks himself with synth. If you haven't, please check out his cover of "High and Dry" by Radiohead. I never liked the original, but his version blows me away.

    Geoff and Avi had Tim Foust show them tips on his lowest notes. This is what I have heard or read several times. Tim is from Texas. He and Geoff are friends. Tim is a Bass with 5 octave range. I don't follow Geoff or Voice Play. I personally like Country Music and not the weird things VP does. This doesn't mean VP isn't Good.

    • @samuelmncedisi1065
      @samuelmncedisi1065 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tomi P's lower vocal range isn't lower than Geoff and Tim - even Avi for that matter - he does however have a solid higher range than either of the two.

      @@TomTuffnuts There's a version on TH-cam that is from a shellac record. Same basic melody, but additional and different lyrics. The song was "collected" by Lomax? And blue jeans date from the California gold rush, (roughly 1841 or so) when an enterprising guy name Levi Strauss came up with pants for hard working gold miners. So if the line about sewing blue jeans is in a version, it might be a way to date the song.

  • @galadballcrusher8182
    @galadballcrusher8182 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    ahem the song predates The Animals who made the most famous cover of it and it's said that the original was from a girl's (who worked in a cathouse) perspective not a boy's.

  • @christinestromberg4057
    @christinestromberg4057 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some guitar, and a trunk LOL, in case you missed it. Geoff has said that originally he wanted to be a rock singer but the higher screeching is damaging and he wants, first and foremost, to be a better singer, even though the low notes are "fun" to have in your repetoire. You do hear a screech in Queen in 5 minutes. That might be the only time.

    • @moniqueakar484
      @moniqueakar484 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He does a short high screech in the Little Mermaid. One of the musical people on another reactions said he goes from a D4 to a D1. There's also some pretty good high belts in Oogie Boogie Song. The person in Voice Play with a great Rock Tenor is Eli.

    • @christinestromberg4057

    • @maeco7
      @maeco7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find him perfectly understandable... Maybe his southern accent is throwing you? Aside from the very beginning of this one, though, he's got excellent diction.
