You need to do both 16 Tons and Shenandoah. I agree with you that he is spectacular with 'interacting' with his other selves, which I just think underpins one of the reasons I love Voiceplay as the 'theatrical' acapella group-they honestly are good actors as well as singers.
Always love your slack jawed reactions to Geoff and to Voiceplay. And I mean that in the most flattering way, of course, it's my same look whenever anything new comes out from them. I have learned not to look away from the screen when he sings, because I never know what I'll miss. I loved the Zippo, I loved the trunk lid fall, but the one I missed for a long time was the candle. When he sings "mothers tell your children not to do what I've done" and hits that low note on done, the candle over his right shoulder lights all by itself. It's the craziest thing! I've been watching you for a while, mostly for Geoff and VP, and am now a subscriber.
I heard one reactor call the Geoff copies the geoffetts 😂😅😅 I love his hair long too. So far I think he has only 2 solo videos that don’t have multiples of his beautiful face- high and dry and a Hawaiian Christmas song featuring the American Sirens. Both of them are very good too! His wife appears in Monster mash and Daddy sang bass! She was a singer too back in the day.
Yes, I second that! Geoff says it's an 'underperformer' on youtube, which is a shame because it is absolutely gorgeous, another prime example of how great he is at arranging and using that incredible range of his to recreate an old song into something spectacular.
@@Kiradeit Yes, on that one Geoff said something along the lines of that was his favorite, but apparently no one else likes it. I'll admit High and Dry took me multiple listenings before I really started to understand and enjoy it, which is probably more indicative of my age (OLD) than anything else. I wasn't familiar with the song at all, which is probably part of the problem with its overall lack of views, since obviously part of his audience is comprised of people enjoying him doing older, more familiar to them songs.
He has tutorial’s on his channel on how to hit those low notes. Might be worth checking out. Great reaction! I love it when he knocks someone for a loop with some of his impressive notes.😊🤣❤️
Even though Geoff stated in a video a couple of years ago that the reason he could sing low bass notes was because he had long hair, I personally believe it's all in the hand movements. If you've never noticed, start paying attention to it. Geoff, Avi, Tim,....they all have (for lack of a better term) "signature hand gestures" that they employ while singing. I first noticed Tim Foust doing it when I watched thru Home Free's performances on The Sing Off. To hit some of his notes, it looked like he's pushing the sound down to get it lower. At the end of 'Ring of Fire' , it looked like Tim took this like superhero pose and fired a fireball at the floor to hit the note. Geoff does it too, but I guess with him being Italian, he really doesn't have a choice. With me being half Italian, I understand the compulsion.
I love his take on this. He used a nasal sound and I think it made it sound kind of "Nawlins". (New Orleans) I can usually tell when he's going to do a bass drop but he caught me by surprise a couple times on this. Dennis King calls him Bassmaster 3000 for this reason. LOL It's usually just Geoff and his wife Kathy filming these. The Geofftet is awesome. You have to hear Shenandoah too--it's really moving and it's actually his tenor voice in it that made me tear up. He's just amazing all around. He's releasing a new one Friday on Patreon.
Saucey Dad… remember, ur vocal cords are muscles so the more u use them, practicing, warming up and learning ur voice and how to control it the stronger ur vocal cords will b just like going to the gym and working out but for ur voice!
I saw this on Dick Clarks American Band Stand back in the '60s when The Animals sang it. Geoff made it his own and I love it. With him holding that lighter and the flame hardly moves. Shows how much breath control he has. You're going to love Sixteen Tons.
I have to say I often spend more time watching you than the videos. When reacting to Geoff/Voiceplay your expressions make me giggle so much! 🙄🤪😲😳 Geoffs voice and range are amazing, and I absolutely love the beautiful harmonies he writes. As for the hair... I've always been a bit partial to men with long hair so that makes him all the more perfect to me! I look forward to the next giggle filled Geoff/VP reaction! 😊👍
In Misty Mountains Cold, Geoff reaches a super low note 3 different times using 3 different techniques. If you listen closely, you can tell they each sound different.
You could check his early work when his hair was short and see what changes happened along the way of his hair journey....VP Chandelier or I Knew You were Trouble both come to mind, probably 2013/14. Both with Rachel Potter.
I can'tbe the only one who thinks this...every time you come out with "I can only imagine", I immediately hear Mercy Me singing it...yes, that's a song. You may want to listen to it sometime, not ncessarily for a reaction, just for your enjoyment. The movie's pretty good, too. Wonderful reaction , of course. Take care, Nick.
Great reaction as always! I would love to see you do ‘high and dry’ or ‘Shenandoah’. Although really you can’t go wrong with anything. Also he does some really cool Q&A as well as how to sing low videos. In case your interested more in how he does it all!
Yes, he’s quite perfect and yes, I believe it’s thanks to the hair. It’s a bit unfair though, ‘cause I have long hair but I’m not really good at anything. So either it’s a male thing (I’m a woman), or it’s a thing that only works on aliens...
you should try and see if you caould have a interview with geoff l´ve seen some other reactors do it that way you could ask him all the questions you want :)
I am not sure if Tim Foust has done this one yet 🙂 Geoff uses subharmonics for his super low notes - that the younger bass singers Tomi P, Peter Barber, Bobbie Waters, Efe Sayin etc use maybe you should try that? Tomi and Efe recently did a cover medley of some of Avi's songs with a really funny outro. th-cam.com/video/kjxh5dQuaNA/w-d-xo.html
Have you ever heard Jeremy Renner's cover of this song? 😄 I recommend that 100%! You need to hear it (but you don't need to make reaction video about it if you don't want to)
Couple things right quick. First, I have something for you I think you'll NEED to see real soon. th-cam.com/video/kjxh5dQuaNA/w-d-xo.html Thank me later. Second, you asked about how Geoff manages to hit those notes so precisely and wondered what you would need to practice in order to do the same thing? Not that I have one millionth the talent any of these singers do but, from all I have gathered from the vocal coaches I've watched doing reactions of their own, the best way to practice precision like that is to slow down the line you're attempting. Slow it down so that each note is it's own thing. When you are reaching each note in your best voice, move onto the next. When you've gotten the line where you want it, vocally, speed it up just a touch. If you're having trouble getting your voice where you want it after speeding it up, drop the speed back down, practice it yet again, and speed back up when you're more comfortable with how it sounds. Continue doing it this way until it's reached full speed. Lastly, but not least by any means, Fun reaction, as always, man. Can't wait to see you in the next one!
The first time I heard this, I will admit, I hated it...It was so different to the original, but now it is my favourite version..... You really need to react to 16 tons....it is totally amazing.... All of his "Solo" work is amazing....
You know the story of Samson in the Bible, right? It's definitely the hair. That's the only possible explanation for why Geoff/Tim/Avi can do thing you and me never will. Nothing else makes sense.
No ,you haven't done 16 Tons yet. You definitely want to check it out.
I love how Geoff breaks people with his singing
You need to do both 16 Tons and Shenandoah. I agree with you that he is spectacular with 'interacting' with his other selves, which I just think underpins one of the reasons I love Voiceplay as the 'theatrical' acapella group-they honestly are good actors as well as singers.
Fantastic actors!!
Yes! Their acting is wonderful. Their Billie Eilish mashup REALLY shows off their acting. It was SO good. LOL.
I especially love his Monster Mash … his dance moves 😂🤣
Yes that is the trick. As Geoff says in his one video where he talks about how he sings so low and says he can sing so low because of his hair ;)
Always love your slack jawed reactions to Geoff and to Voiceplay. And I mean that in the most flattering way, of course, it's my same look whenever anything new comes out from them.

PLEASE do Shenandoah! He did a beautiful job, and he uses his middle register a little more ... and it's such a great sound!

His wife also appears briefly in “Boybands in 5 minutes”. But it’s such a short time that you can’t get a good look at them 😁.
Recommend his cover of Shenandoah.

@@patriciaschuman4205 I'd say the high and dry cover he did was more of an "underperformer" it deserved more views!
@@Kiradeit Yes, on that one Geoff said something along the lines of that was his favorite, but apparently no one else likes it. Geoff is really great at those jaw dropping moments of ultimate bassiness after hitting some impressive high notes. great reaction.

Yes, Geoff is just that good. He inspires all of us.
He does do great interactions with himselves. Peter Hollens also does fun interactions, like in his "Epic Nickelodeon Medley".

This is by far my favorite version of this song. Love watching multiple Geoff's!!

Geoff and his wife used to do musical productions at Disney with singing and dancing. I imagine that she helps with the filming.

Hey Nick, a lot of times Geoffs low notes are called sub harmonics. You should check out his video for how he does that. Love your reactions!

I love that "record scratch" moment on your face LOL. Your brain came to a screeching halt and never recovered. Yes....its the hair. 🤣🤣🤣
Nice video. These deep voices are so hard to comprehend how they do it?
Shshshhhh ! Yes. It. Is the hair. As a fan of House of the Rising sun. Leslie West R.I.P. does 2 great versions. Guitarist from Mountain great
Thanks for another enjoyable reaction!
Is it the hair? YES. Now you're ready for the Hair Nation sound. 🤟
All of Geoff's songs are amazing. Be sure to check out The Monster Mash and the Misty Mountains.
You really need to react to Geoff’s Far over the Misty Mountain cold you will get chill bumps on top of your chill bumps
I think this song broke your brain lol. You're not alone in that.
You really have to watch his hands closely, that gives you a split second to prepare yourself for those "demonic lows" 😂👍🏻😉

and monster mash and the headless horseman
Is it the hair?! Hmmm...what would Rob sound like if he grew his hair longer? Or how awesome would Eli be if he had hair?? :D
New idea for your intro, how abou5 you sing with Tim and Austin! That would be the best!!
You may have a point there, about the hair. Remember Samson? (the one in the Bible). :)
I am not sure if Tim Foust has done this one yet 🙂

You should listen to Don't mess around with Jim
You need to listen to "The Animals" version of this song if you haven't. There is also a really old version on You Tube.
Love your reactions!
I think you're right: it has to be the hair:)

As much as I love Geoff, I prefer the original by the Animals
You comment about the hair has merit but then how do you explain Layne, Eli, and from Home Free, Rupp
I think the hair thing only works for the bass singers 🙂
