I loved the episode where Clark on Red Kryptonite goes to Metropolis and gets into crime. Jonathan makes a deal with Jor-El to get powers and says to Clark, "You're coming home with me!"
I think one of the reasons Johnathan Kent worked is because he felt genuine. The difference between Smallville and every other Superman show is the relationship between the Kents. It gave real context for how he grew up to be who he became. I know you have done other good and great things, but I'll never forget how you brought Johnathan Kent to life and through him taught a boy to become Superman.
jdzspace33 THIS is the reason smallville was great. It was because he was Clark KENT smallville really shined a light on why he’s so super. It’s because of his parents. I mean look no further than Clark Luther. Without the Kent’s he’s evil. And it’s honestly amazing to know that if the Kent’s has made it home 2 minutes earlier. Or if they hadn’t been on the road at all. Their would be no Superman. Their would be ultra man. An evil jerk 😂
"Smallville" Talisman was the one you directed and it was one of the best episodes ever. Thank you for being a Great DAD TO A YOUNG CLARK KENT, you helped define as well as Mold his Character into becoming The Man of Steel~I wish you nothing but the BEST John always and God Bless.
I was little when smallville came out and I sat down on the couch with my dad and watched the first episode with him. I had no idea what dukes of hazzard was at the time, but when you first appeared on screen my dad started to freak out saying “that’s John Schneider from the dukes of hazzard” I asked him what it was and it sounded fun so we started to watch the dukes of hazzard along with smallville. That being said, I just wanted to let you know that you’ve played a big part in my life since I was a little boy, being that the dukes and smallville are my two favorite shows. Thanks for what you do! -Nick
My story’s almost the exact same lol. Except I’m a little younger then you. And I didn’t have the luxury of seeing dukes yet. My dad freaked out when he saw John. Dukes was his favorite. Wish it was on Netflix or something so I could watch it
Jt parker gotta love them childhood memories... btw the first season is free on amazon prime if you have that but last time I checked the rest of the seasons you have to pay for
Hello Mr. Schneider. I do not have a question for you, however, being a person who did not have a father growing up, I would have to say that your take on Jonathan Kent is the best father-figure that I have ever seen. Thank you for being an inspiration.
I'm no spring chicken, I was 30 when Smallville came out. Growing up a Dukes fan certainly was part of what attracted me to the show. Your Jonathan Kent had such an impact and was such an inspiration to me. I'm not a father, I don't think that was ever in the cards for me. But certainly Jonathan Kent inspires you to want to be a better man. Maybe it was because I never had a father in my life. I'm an only child raised by a single parent. Boys need a strong father figure, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. I can imagine the impact Smallville had on younger kids. Bravo John for some wonderful years. Absolutely true, the crown jewel of the Superman Legacy!
Sir, I was military deployed to Iraq and loved your being on Smallville. The things you said were common sense and genuine. Thank you and hope your April bash is awesome!!
From a mid-late 40’s guy, I can say I grew up on and loved the Dukes of Hazzard...and, in my older years as a Superman fan...equally loved Smallville! The success of that show has spawned all of these “other” shows and crossovers etc! Keep doing what you do and I’ll keep watching!
John Coco I totally agree. I think Smallville is responsible for starting the whole super hero craze. The first show to get it right and keep it that way!
John Schneider we really need more family time shows like the dukes of hazard....I feel sorry for this generation of young teens and children who don’t have a father figure in their lives ... it’s kinda sad really but you guys were there for us.
@@JohnSchneiderStudios Other actors may come along to play the part of Johnathan Kent, but you defined that character. You brought that character to life in a way that I have never seen. Kudos to you good sir.
@NOT YOU Surely you know Tom Welling didn't write or produce the show. Their aim was not to portray the fully developed superman. Was it annoying at times? Yes, but don't start bashing an actor just for playing the part that was given to him in the script.
You were the reason we even gave Smallville a chance as it wasn't really our kind of show at the time. The overall quality kept us engaged for (nearly) all ten seasons. There really hasn't been any better "Superman" content since. Thanks for that :)
what a show man, smallville was huge in my life...from start to finish. I was at college watching every episode...then in the latter stage i was at work, but kept watching smallville, it was golden part of my life. The show just made you feel like you are in such a wonderful place...the gloss, the lighting, the scenery, the characters and the actors and actresses that play them just was wonderful. I was in that bubble for a decade.
Thank you John! I am almost 50, but am watching Smallville for the first time. Superman has been my favorite hero since childhood, and I absolutely LOVE the show. I am only on season 4, and I have been watching one episode per day, and I have all seasons on dvd. I dont think Smallville would be what it is if it had not been for you being on the show. Thank you so much for your part in this popular series, and I hope to see you one day soon at a comic con in the Seattle or Portland area. Many blessings!
8:10 Great video. Smallville certainly was the crown jewel of the Superman Legacy. Thank you for all you invested into it to make that happen John. God bless.
From the UK.....Awesome for me to find this video. I am 12 years younger than John Schneider so remember him as his character in The Dukes of Hazzard first of all, curly blonde hair and all. I watched Smallville from episode 1 until the end and loved it all. I have always been a fan since I saw a clip of Superman (Christopher Reeve) on a TV in a caravan showroom back in the late 70's or maybe early 1980's. For me watching it was the heart to heart conversations between Jonathan and Clark and the advice from Father to Son, emotional and also things that anyone should take on board. It was the kind of things that all Fathers should tell their Sons, whether they can bend steel and leap tall buildings or not!
Thank you tor doing this! 😊 I'm a fan starting from the Dukes of Hazzard days when I was a kid. As always you do an awesome job then and on smallville. Smallville is an all time favorite. I hope you do more of these for Smallville. 👍 God bless you John.
The casting on that show was almost always spot on. Yours, Welling, and Annette O'Toole were at that top of that list. That family dynamic really made the show work. The later seasons after you were gone, were good in their own way, but I always missed the around the Kent household stuff. I loved the Dodge Charger episode with Tom Wopat! It was so much fun.
That was especially touching what you shared about the military officers who appreciated you at comic con. What a gift to know you helped people in that way.
HELLO IM FROM NORWAY, I cant say enough how much i loved the show. your caracter is amazing. I belive ther is alot of people walking around having you as a second father. the show ruled my life thank you
You are such a delight to listen to John, I loved your character in Smallvile and your personality. Also loved your Word of Promise reading of the bible, it’s amazing. Thanks John!
Smallville is one of my most favourite shows. There’s no other superman show like it. I’m really glad it was you that portrayed the role as Johnathan Kent. I couldn’t imagine else doing that role justice.
In my opinion, Tom Welling has the perfect Superman look, even more so than the beloved Christopher Reeve, and I grew up with the Reeve movies. How I longed for Welling to do a full length theatrical Superman movie in the tights, but does not appear it will ever happen. So glad we have Smallville though, what a gift.
My son was born in 2001. Later that year Smallville debuted. As a lifelong Superman fan, I was excited for the new show. What I didn’t expect is how much I appreciated the Jonathan Kent character, being a new father myself at the time. You brought a lot of substance to that role and it was a weekly reminder of my duty to raise my children with morals and character. Thx for being the best JK we’ve ever had and a show that’s worth re-watching over and over.
I always loved your version of Jonathan Kent on the show John, it's always hard to judge an actor's performance from a TV show to a film, as both mediums are very different... and tv shows allow greater character growth overtime. As an actor, I always connected with your version of Jonathan the most, you played it with humanity, but watching you was like watching an older Superman installing the qualities in the younger Clark. Was sad when you're character was killed off, but with your acting and the amazing writers on the show. Your Jonathan Kent even today still remains one of the best on screen.
I love Smallville ❤️ first episide I saw was the episode where the coach on season 1 was a hot head, and could start fires by thinking of the fire. Was hooked straight away. You played Johnathan Kent so well, you were amazing. Thank you and everyone on Smallville for a terrific series ❤️ Love from the UK ❤️
Thank you for the re-upload, love this video. You were truly one of the few, best father figures on TV of all time and Smallville wouldn't have been what it was without your presence. Nice to see it meant as much to you as it did to the fans.
I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard & LOVE it still. I also LOVE Smallville. You are, by far, THE BEST portrayal of Johnathan Kent! THANK YOU for your amazing work!
I don't think anyone else could have fit that role like you did. You were perfect for it, and one of the many reasons why I still love this show. I actually got into The Dukes of Hazzard because of Smallville.
Johnathon Kent is one of the most inspiring fictional Characters ever created, and you really brought him to life John, it is difficult to differentiate between yourself and Johnathon Kent. Thank you for bringing him to life, I hope you're doing well :)
You Really Brought Johnthan Kent To life, The Relationship Between The Both Of You Was Great and It Was A Great Joy To Watch Every Week To Witness How You And Tom Got Along So Well.God Bless You and Your Family Always and Forever.
Hey John, Greetings from Mexico! Just wanted to say that I absolutely loved Smallville and your performance as Jonathan Kent, I cried both at the episode you died and in the finale when you gave Clark the cape. You totally nailed the role of a wise father that gave strong values to a man that would go to become a legend. You're By far the best Jonathan Kent. Thank you so much for being a fantastic actor, and giving me such good memories
You’re the absolute best John Kent Period. I think everyone in that show was perfectly cast to the point that even though it’s been off the air for 9 years I still watch it; I’m on my 30th watch through of the show right now and, funny enough I just recently watched the episode with the 360 shot
John your portrayal of Jonathan Kent means so much to me on the show. I hated the day I knew would come that Mr. Kent would have to die. You were like the father I never had. Thank You, Thank You for your time on Smallville.
I Love the show I used to watch smallville with my dad all the time and when your character died it was the first time I cried over a tv dead. After my dad passed away it took me a while to even rewatch the show but eventually I did and even to this day to me the Jonathan and Clark relation it’s one of the best father and son duo on tv history.
Ah yes love this vid Mr. Kent! Dude Mr. Schneider you were the glue to that show Smallville to this day is and forever will be my #1 favorite TV show and you playing Jonathon Kent was a privilege and joy to watch thank you for the 5 phenomenal awesome seasons and life lessons you gave us Sir. Smallville 4 Life
Great thing about the old shows from the 70s/80's was they had a message in them. Usually the message was to help one another. Todays shows lack any take away message. Smallville kind of brought that message back for a while. I believe the show went on a different direction after Johnathans death. I know i lost interest in it no long after. Keep up the youtube videos! Its awesome to get direct content from the actors we watched/watch without all the edits and delays.
You were the best part of the early days of Smallville. The staples of Jonathan Kent you established as a character, brilliantly is a testament. John you’re imprint is iconic. Thank you Mr. Kent “Always hold Unto Smallville”.
You have endured as a great father figure throughout the years. So many of the guys & gals who I worked with here in the UK navy during the early 200O’s saw you as”their Pa”, particularly a young Wren named Samantha! She was your biggest fan! When I got back, myself & my mother & father considered you, Annette & Tom the most natural family on television! To this day, you are STILL the benchmark in superhero tv. Smallville has never been bettered.⭐️ Thank you John for always being so REAL!⭐️
You're awesome John! I grew up watching Smallville, I'm of the same age as Kristen Kreuk, so Smallville is my favorite and best stories on TV. You represented a lovely father as Jonathan Kent. I have no words to describe... I continue watching Smallville right now....and is always the best show. Thanks for accepting being part of it. Love, love, love Smallville and all the cast. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I wish you read my comment John! See you, Patty (from Brazil).
Mr. Schneider I just wanted to say that you are truly a wonderful and a remarkable man and you are hands down the best Jonathan Kent we have ever seen or will ever see
I’ve watched all 10 seasons of smallville 3 times and I still want to go back to it. The show was so relatable. It felt so real, felt as tho I could fly to smallville and actually be a part of that universe...can’t really put it into words. Tom Welling’s character inspired me to be more of a man than anything else. I’ve watched a lot of tv series...superhero, sci-fi and fantasy but none come close to smallville. Never seen a better father figure on tv than your role as Jonathan. The family unit in the show...the best ever!!! I so badly miss the show, makes me sad how times have changed and that they’ll never be another smallville like it with the same actors...it’s that deep
Hi John from Dominican Republic. My sister and I started watching Smallville over 20 years ago. Now we are still watching it and we getting crazy because of now we understand more the episodes. Thanks for making us feel bette run our life. You are a great actor and thank you all for all of these wonderful years. We will check all of your movies and my mom loves you, hahahaha!! Blessings for your family, Mr. Kent !!! Yeah !!!
Hands down, you were the best portrayal of Jonathan Kent in any format. Your relationship with Clark defined and elevated that show to greatness, and is what brings me back to the first 5 seasons time and time again.
Being a dying disabled Vietnam veteran I can honestly say that your acting and singing got me through some really bad times! Times when I considered killing myself instead I would turn on one of your records or shows and try to get it back together again to make it another day. THANK YOU JOHN FOR MY LIFE! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Jonathan Kent really was the father figure I looked up to as I was growing up. I never had a constant dad in my life. You really helped me when I was struggling in my younger years. If I had a moral dilemma, I would always asks what would Jonathan Kent think if I did this. I have mad respect for you. So thank you. Thank you for bringing to life a character I will always hold close to my heart. ❤️
Your portrayal of Jonathan Kent was out of this world. Being a Superman fan and a huge fan of Dukes of Hazzard when I was a kid, I had mixed feelings about you playing him. I watched the pilot and my mind was changed. I thought you did a fantastic job and made the character come to life. Thank you for all the years of hard work you did for us. My favorite scene from Smallville would be when you handed Clark his suit in the finale. That was the perfect final scene for Jonathan. "Always hold onto Smallville."
I loved Smallville. I love the characters, etc. I loved your interpret of Johnathon Kent. Take Clark Kent he could have been a god but the guidance you provided as Johnathon Kent kept him grounded. I not surprised people come up to you with respect in their eyes. If I met you I definitely hug you. There way many times that the advice of Jonathan Kent helped me through rough times.
It’s an honor to be thought of like he said. His Jonathan Kent really is the father many of us in tents need. God bless and Cheers, brother. Hopes up high, head down low.
Yeah, I agree with the last point. Johnathan Kent definitely gave me some good advice while growing up. I can remember fondly of a few episodes that helped me get through some struggles namely with heartbreaks/relationship issues. Thanks John/Johnathan 🤗
Thank you Mr. Schneider for your generous time. I was 11 when Smallville aired in 2001; I was 13 when I really started becoming a true fan in 2003. The Kents have always been my favorite, Johnathan and Martha have always been my favorites, because their a lot like my own mom and dad; full of wisdom and grace threw life's mistakes. Clark became my hero, and those years between 2003-2004 were the darkest of my life; Smallville helped get me threw the roughest period of all.
Dear John, please do this more often with Smallville. I am also one of the teenagers who grew up seeing Smallville. Your portrait inspired many of us in how to be a father. Greetings from Budapest, Hungary.
Sir, your legacy on Smallville and the way your character raised Clark is just one of the best aspects of the show, great to hear that you based that in real life way of raising teen agers, my best regards from Mexico!
Not really a question but you have to know growing up watching dukes of hazzard and my daughter watching smallville and getting me hooked on it I know you didnt intend to do it but somehow I could feel the love and wisdom of uncle Jesse and the sense of family. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I love you John Schneider love smallville and it is a very very great show I still watch on Hulu and you are the best in my book always forever and love all your songs and love your show ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
Married on the show to the old Lana Lang, classic. It was such a fantastic cast. Michael Rosenbaum, John Glover, Annette O'toole, Tom Welling and yourself were the best. Favorite episode was when they used Time after Time for the funeral of Whitney's dad. I was also happy with how long you were on the show knowing Pa Kent's death was coming at some point.
Ive always thought that johns character of jonathan kent is what made smallville special because it showed values in a morally corrupt world we live in. He grounded his extraordinary son and taught him humility and respect.
You were the BEST Jonathan Kent ever and YES...Smallville is definitely the crown jewel in the Superman story/legacy. That show will always be important to me.
Everytime Jonathan Kent character come up in the every Superman movie, i keep thinking no one as great as you to play that role... Thank you to workhard in Smallville 🤗 really verry berry enjoy it...
You're an inspiration. I grow up in my teen years watching smallville. I learn so much from you. Now I am a parent and want to raise my kid with same values you teach Clark Kent in show.
You really created such a wonderful father figure in that show. You and the writers take on Jonathan Kent was fantastic.

You totally nailed the role of a wise father that gave strong values to a man that would go to become a legend.
You're By far the best Jonathan Kent. Thank you so much for being a fantastic actor, and giving me such good memories
There has and never will be a better Jonathan Kent than you. Thanks for the memories.
мне так приятно)) такое классное .. короткое видео)) и мурашки по коже)) спасибо вам )! Отец Кларка))) вы отличный Актёр)) спасибо вам)
You’re the absolute best John Kent Period. I think everyone in that show was perfectly cast to the point that even though it’s been off the air for 9 years I still watch it; I’m on my 30th watch through of the show right now and, funny enough I just recently watched the episode with the 360 shot
I have started the series over but this time around it is with my children. Thank you
Love you John, love this interview.
And I will never forget watching Smallville as a kid. Used to be one of my favourite shows long with the Dukes of Hazzard.
John Schneider
is an amazing actor all around! Who could ask for a better dad on TV especially for Superman?
John your portrayal of Jonathan Kent means so much to me on the show. I hated the day I knew would come that Mr. Kent would have to die. You were like the father I never had. Thank You, Thank You for your time on Smallville.
I Love the show I used to watch smallville with my dad all the time and when your character died it was the first time I cried over a tv dead. After my dad passed away it took me a while to even rewatch the show but eventually I did and even to this day to me the Jonathan and Clark relation it’s one of the best father and son duo on tv history.
Absolute class act and hands down the best Jonathan Kent.
My two boys and myself always watch Smallville. We still talk about it and occasionally watch it on DVD.
Thank you for answering those questions.
Couldn’t hit like enough. Love John and his gratefulness.
I´m from Brazil and here you are hero , we all love what you did in smallville...thank you
Ah yes love this vid Mr. Kent! Dude Mr. Schneider you were the glue to that show Smallville to this day is and forever will be my #1 favorite TV show and you playing Jonathon Kent was a privilege and joy to watch thank you for the 5 phenomenal awesome seasons and life lessons you gave us Sir. Smallville 4 Life
You Made my day John!
Awesome to hear from you! Loved the Dukes as a child and loved Smallville as an adult! Great story on the military vets!
Just love you Mr. Schneider, thank you for all the great memories in Dukes and Smallville you provided me through my years. - Derrick
Kent !!! Yeah !!!
Named my daughter's Lana and Chloe because of Smallville.
😂
Do you regret, naming the one Chloe, after all the trouble Allison Mack got into ?nexim or what ever that cult was called?
Big Daddy Kristin Kreuk got her into it. She ended up leaving though. Terrible cult to become part of.
Bama , no kidding. Ahh. I didn’t know that. Glad she got out while she did. It sux that Allison got sucked into it .
@@luv3daysgrace1 You have that backwards
Hands down, you were the best portrayal of Jonathan Kent in any format. Your relationship with Clark defined and elevated that show to greatness, and is what brings me back to the first 5 seasons time and time again.
Tremendous work sir thank you for all the years you gave us as mr.kent . You own that role.
It's so cool that he did this. Thanks John the fans really appreciate stuff like this
Being a dying disabled Vietnam veteran I can honestly say that your acting and singing got me through some really bad times!
@Leo Peridot
is that right then maybe someone should tell this lady.

The episode you are speaking of is "Talisman"
Love your work, sincerely,
One of the many soldiers watching from a tent ;)
It’s an honor to be thought of like he said. His Jonathan Kent really is the father many of us in tents need.
God bless and Cheers, brother. Hopes up high, head down low.
Thomas baber he didn’t want people to know the name of the episode
Yeah, I agree with the last point. Johnathan Kent definitely gave me some good advice while growing up. I can remember fondly of a few episodes that helped me get through some struggles namely with heartbreaks/relationship issues. Thanks John/Johnathan 🤗
Thanks so much for that, it was Awesome!!!
A father to so many, thanks for making it bright and pleasant
We just finished watching the entire series and our entire family LOVED it! Definitely my favourite series!
Thank!
I have loved your roll in smallville and it wasn’t the same after you left!
Dear John, please do this more often with Smallville. I am also one of the teenagers who grew up seeing Smallville. Your portrait inspired many of us in how to be a father. Greetings from Budapest, Hungary.
very few have perfectly captured the heart of a comic character as well as you. you are forever in my eyes Pa Kent.
Sir, your legacy on Smallville and the way your character raised Clark is just one of the best aspects of the show, great to hear that you based that in real life way of raising teen agers, my best regards from Mexico!
Thank you, Thank you for actually reading the responses here. You are a real hero out here, and this video proves it. Thank you for sharing.
Not really a question but you have to know growing up watching dukes of hazzard and my daughter watching smallville and getting me hooked on it I know you didnt intend to do it but somehow I could feel the love and wisdom of uncle Jesse and the sense of family. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You were an awesome Jonathan Kent sir 👍👍👍👍👍❤ I loved Smallville
You were and always will be the best Jonathan Kent ever!
I love you John Schneider love smallville and it is a very very great show I still watch on Hulu and you are the best in my book always forever and love all your songs and love your show ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
And your movies too ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Married on the show to the old Lana Lang, classic.
@Leo Peridot We all have our favorites.
@Leo Peridot think she had it changed to inmate number something or the other
We loved Smallville and hated it when your character died.
Jason Davis it’s inevitable were u not aware of Superman’s story while watching it?
Very aware of Superman's story. It is possible to be aware of the story, but be disappointed when a character/actor is no longer on the show.
Jason Davis I mean I guess when the show premiered I knew who was gonna die from the beginning so I was ready for it
me too
What an amazing show. Wow! Bringing back memories! I wish our youth had shows like that! Thanks!
Ive always thought that johns character of jonathan kent is what made smallville special because it showed values in a morally corrupt world we live in. He grounded his extraordinary son and taught him humility and respect.
You really did great on Smallville John, thanks mate from Australia!
Loved your role on Smallville, grew up watching you as Bo Duke. May God bless you at whatever you do next.
You were the cornerstone of every Jonathan Kent performance I saw on tv and film. The OG
I have been waiting for these. I loved you in that role.
You're an inspiration. I grow up in my teen years watching smallville. I learn so much from you. Now I am a parent and want to raise my kid with same values you teach Clark Kent in show.
Fan of both Dukes and Smallville! Both were great television in their day and today. They stand the test of time!👍🏻
