like your take on things, like your channel, like the subject matter but the sound a bit like old tv, loud music in the adverts then the stuff you wanna hear very quiet. your voice is more important than the musac

@@jimmyviaductophilelawley5587 I’m same age, also born in July but we swam in the Ashton Canal back then around Openshaw, bikes and shopping trolleys were the norm there.

Amazing transformation from Docks much like London Docklands which is just down the road from me..
It is quite interesting to see some of the hidden clues.
A friend lives in what was the Surrey Docks Area and we were in a Pub and someone said why is the country names on a wall and big iron rings in the pavement . I volunteered that the Roads may be named after the Country or Cargo Unloaded and the rings were for the ships to tie to. A couple of the group did not believe and an elderly chap at the bar said he went to sea in late twenties and ended up working as Ship Broker and what is now parks and car parks were berths for ships everyone found this amazing and I was quite chuffed that I had got my history correct..

In the late 60 and 70's my father had the transport Cafe on Trafford park road adjacent to the railway crossing near to the Kraft factory, I used to wonder along the railway tracks onto the docks, as a kid it had atmosphere and a certain buzz. I had some photos of those days but mainly my Dad worked on the tugs bring the ships into berths. He said goods were hand-balled and a lot of goods went missing hence the change to containers and sadly the demise of the docks with the introduction of the container ships. They were happy days . . .

The railway swing bridge in the middle of the quays was originally located across ship canal which linked up with the Trafford park railway system , the concrete plinths for the bridge are still in place which you caught in your footage, also near to the old racecourse ,Salford rugby played there before they moved to the willows

A lot of the names are Canadian, mainly because a major trading relationship of the docks was with Canada.

The main North American destinations for Manchester Liners were the Great Lakes of USA and Canada which had many major industrial ports.

Great video !!. My Grandfather had a business on the Dock. "Packwood and Sons" were boatmen at Manchester Docks ie. they tied the ships up. I'm researching it as part of my family history and I still live local to Manchester myself. It's a shame there is no museum or place of further information on the docks with it being so prominent to Manchester's history.

used to hate it in it's working days, as chief engineer on a merchant ship it was a long haul from the Bar light ship to Manchester and you would not believe the stench of the place

A museum centre is a great idea for example the museum of London has moved into Docklands in London.

If its in Salford and its really good or a success. It suddenly transforms into Manchester. If its rundown or a failure its just grubby old Salford. Mancunians are very fussy about what to select to become Manchester.

You need to do proper research into the history of the docks like why it ended up with the name and why!! There is only 1 Dock in Manchester dock1 pomona Dock No's 2,3,4 are actually in old Trafford Dock No5 was in Salford next to colgate and palmolive opposite No4 Dock but got filled due to getting heavily silted up all the time as it was viable due to this I could go on more. The bridge that spans No9 Dock was actually situated next to Trafford Rd swing Bridge and was for trains to carry goods to and from the docks into Trafford Park it got moved round about 1996/7i watched it its progress and it being lifted on to a barge for its journey. My late dad was a lorry driver and always on the docks and when I was on holiday from school would be with him in his lorry and on the docks with him from 6 age of 5yrs old in 1972 loved it and I went to high school facing the docks and live on the estate oppersite the docks have done since I was born in 1967!!

Dock 9 wasn’t situated near Trafford road bridge but much further up Trafford rd near the Grain Elevator. I once lived on London street behind the stretch of Trafford rd facing that Giant concrete monolith.

A great trading post gone but was talking to a old boy was shipping in Japan shipping is going to make a huge come back it will be bigger than ever be for tbh in my eyes it brought more jobs more purpose less trucks on the road a lot of town and villages u can get to by barge and I rather travel by ship more adventure than sitting on a plane breathing someone else’s crap from there body

Sort your sound levels out, I couldn't watch till the end because of your terrible music coming on obnoxiously loud.
