Now he could buy pretty much any car he wants. But why would he?, he’s one of the biggest names in the car world, he gets to drive all the new super cars and sports cars. Think about it he’s on here if he rings up any company’s says can I review this car they’re going to do it. Now he buys the cars he loves, the ones that he’s always wanted not just all the cars in the world.

Honestly, and this is probably heresy to say this, but as far as looks are concerned, I prefer it's little brother. The 355. Or had that been replaced by the 360 by then? Whatever, I prefer the way the 355 looks. Can't beat a V12 though...
Harry is one of my favorite auto journalists ever and I’m from the NJ/USA. As amazing as an auto journalist he is, that’s selling him short on so much more. I would give anything to go to his garage. 140 mile round trip to work in a 550 and many other awesome cars. He’s a living legend

I could listen to blokes talking about cars they had previously owned for hours. We all remember every car we’ve had, its something we’ve all got in common, so it’s great to be able to relate
I think each of us watching this video from start to finish enjoyed it - and also was pained by it remembering all of the previous cars we’ve bought and later regretted we’ve sold. I think what pains us most is that by the time we realize what we have done, someone doesn’t take care of the car like we would have or enjoys it and the car appreciates to a value much higher than we sold it for. This 550 is a beautiful car and hearing Harry and Hammond reminisce about their love for this car just made all other 550’s around the world a little more expensive. Great video. Thank you !!!
I remember my dad took me too a Ferrari expo where I lived when I was 9 and this car was there (1998/9, somewhere around there) and thats when I first saw this car. It was and still is the most beautiful car I have ever set eyes on. The guy who owned it was a nice old bloke, and I think he loved seeing a kid so excited about a car and was happy to let me sit in the driver's seat. One of the happiest moments of my young life. One day I will own one of these. One day.

If the door can be shut without it shattering, gently pushing the door via the glass will do absolutely nothing 🤦♂️ if the weather stripping/door fitment is fine you can literally throw the door shut two handed with no ill effect 👍(only do that last bit on cars YOU own please 😄)

I’ve heard the same analogy applied to Alfa Romeos before. A sales man once told me many people would come test-drive a car then go buy a BMW or Audi equivalent.

Literally within the last couple of days was thinking "why aren't 550s more popular still?' Id honestly much rather have one of these over the modern front engine V12 Ferraris. Same with the 355, I'd rock either of these all day every day with a huge smile. The 550 was the understated beauty of Ferrari, the Ferrari that almost didn't look like a Ferrari but was still beautiful and had all the presence needed. Love it.
It's like an Ex girlfriend.... The memories are better than getting back with her. The oil leaks and maintenance is so expensive you wonder why you bothered!!
I remember when this was new, people felt that, the design of the 550 wouldn’t age well compared to say an Aston Vanquish. Now when we look at it, after so many years, it’s still very very likeable.
What a joy to listen to that pair reminiscing. What I particularly appreciate is that it happens to be a 550 Maranello or it could be a Capri 2.8i, or an Alfasud, or a Skoda 136 Rapid, or a Mini 1275GT. At the end of the day it's just cars and why we love them.

Because through the period when they were offering the 360, 430, 575, 599 and 612 with manual gearbox options, most buyers were total idiots who specced flappy paddle boxes instead. People shunning one of the greatest features of a Ferrari, for a gearbox which is jerky and will probably break, to go 0.3 seconds a lap faster on a track that it'll never be driven on, because it'll spend most of its time under a dust sheet in a garage. Meanwhile a manual 599 is probably worth the thick end of a million now.
@@EMFAudio Not necessary slower, just a tiny bit, but much more enjoyable to drive on road, 0.3sec faster is so meneengless, becose 99% never will be driven on a track, let alone competitively.
As a DT member, i always look forward to a bit of a candid interview with one of the TG/GT "lads". But also, as a ravenous consumer of Harrys Garage videos, imagine my surprise (and absolute joy), when i found out DT did an interview with both Richard and Harry about my favourite Ferrari ever made (after the 250 GTO of course). I can understand the term Great Motoring Regrets. I sold my 69 Camaro that I built from the ground up with no professional help whatsoever back in 1994 and I still do not wake-up in the morning regretting doing that almost 30 years later.

As a DT member, i always look forward to a bit of a candid interview with one of the TG/GT "lads". But also, as a ravenous consumer of Harrys Garage videos, imagine my surprise (and absolute joy), when i found out DT did an interview with both Richard and Harry about my favourite Ferrari ever made (after the 250 GTO of course). Absolutely stonking video!! love this. Will no doubt be watched many a time going into the future. Cheers guys! 🍻🙌

I can understand the term Great Motoring Regrets. I sold my 69 Camaro that I built from the ground up with no professional help whatsoever back in 1994 and I still do not wake-up in the morning regretting doing that almost 30 years later.
Harry is Harry as always and it was nice to see Hammond not being Hammond.
No matter beautiful those other cars are in the background of Harry's garage, I just can't stop looking at that Clio 🤤

Can't really imagine Hammond hasn't the finances for this car, or for that matter the new extension would put his finances in a precarious situation... Buy it back!
