I discuss the Horror's mechanics and weaknesses and show you the party I brought as well as discuss other options for heroes in the fight. In the next video, I will breakdown the party composition I recommend for DD part 1 and the trinkets to consider.

I played this game blind until I met the shuffling horror and lost like 5 heroes probably due to underpreparation
I beat this dude with a quad-crusader team that had Smite, holy lance, battle heal, and inspiring cry. No matter how he shuffled the team, it still worked perfectly. No death’s door, no afflictions, nothing. Four virtues. Deus Vult, infidel.

Old video but helped me. The absolute best you can bring here are high way men. With their Duelist advance, one of the better skills in game. 2 high way man that jumps over eachother with duelist advance, which works from any position and places them in riposte mode. Highway mens riposte deals alot more damage then Man at arms. But point is. this fight was won by ripostes, the addon mage got killed in 2 rounds from high way man riposte and 50% of damage dealth to the boss was from riposte. For the rest a Vestel and a Jester. Jester is one of the better classes in games and should always be in a party. The buff to Acc, CRT and speed is in itself damage without him dealing it, coupled with stress relief. With jesters you run missions without torches, bring an Antiquarian and its loot fiesta. But the guide helped me decide party, that said I tend to run 1 or 2 high way man for the most part due that means 50% of the party deals riposte. Add in an antiquarian that force guard a high way man and 75% of the party deals riposte damage. Jester, antiquarian and 2 highway men is a party comp I use alot for longer missions, stack on dodge gear on the high way men and jester, dont need damage gear, and no heals will be needed since they wont be touched and melt most enemies extremly fast.
PS: Highway men setup is their bleed attack, point black shot and duelist advance. Once they both have riposte active start using duelist advance with point blank shot for fast clearing.
why is the jester good? i dont understand finale is it for the final hit or whatever wtf and they supose to have nerfed it and now its useles
@@darkprophecy69 jester is good bc he is the only good stress healer in the game, so it is much easier to control the stress levels of the group. One of the best chars in the game.
@@aynes8099 Hound master is a stress healer. So is crusader.
Seems like two Highwaymen would be great for this, he always hits all the party members during one round so ripostes would absolutely destroy him.
you could sandwich 2 highs and 2 maa and have the maa's guard and then riposte in turn.
that might be fun. only the maa's would take minimal damage (just use protection trinkets and bleed resist trinks), and the boss would get 4 ripostes per action. that's 8 per turn IIRC.
it would be GETTING that crew there which might pose a problem simply from the stress from the fights leading there. OTOH, maa has at least some stress reduction combat ability, and some good ones for camping so... might work out fine.
will have to try it and see.
What happens if you kill the priest behind it? Is it anything like the giant pig boss where if you kill the tiny pig it gets harder?

I loved this game, now I hate this game. I wished I looked up this video before. His shuffling ability is beyond frustrating. A random hero death after escaping is also just silly.
I am not going to play this game with trial and error anymore, its too unforgiving in that. I will just look up youtube video's before I try any next darkest dungeon run.
It's unforgiving by design. The developers have said a bunch of times that it's not for everyone. Even the best plans end in disaster sometimes
yeah it is indeed. but that is also smth that makes winning those bosses especially pleasent.
Sorry if this sounds rude, but....
GET GUD. Darkest Dungeon is about risk, trial and error. If you play and your characters die, you should look at your mistakes as lessons on how to keep them alive next time.

had a party with vestal, jester, shieldbreaker and leper. easy going.
I play a jester, vestal, crusader, and leper. Everytime, I'm basically stressed out and almost no life by the 3rd battle. Fuck this game. I'm constantly getting hit by 40 crit. I spend each turn healing and destressing and can never deal anymore than 15 damage. What gives? Also, i have no diseases, no negative quirks.....i missed a meeting or something. Is this game really this difficult? I lost like 12 guys on this one level. Help me out
man if youre able to manage to get stressed with jester, crusader and aleper in a same team then youre definitely doing it all wrong.
dont take leper, and vestal is a tough choice if not just healing. This is 3 years late, but you were playing a party that sucks against the shambler, try out heros like the highway man and the MAA for the repost

Why not try Houndmaster/Occultist/Abomination/Hellion?
Houndmaster: Hound's Rush/Target Whistle/Lick Wounds/Cry Havoc
Occultist: Weakening Curse/Vulnerability Hex/Sacrificial Stab/Wyrd Reconstruction
Abomination: Beast mode.
Hellion: Wicked Hack/If It Bleeds/Iron Swan/Adrenaline Rush
For trinkets, go full damage on the Abomination and Houndmaster, go for Bleed and Crit chance on the Hellion, and go part heal, part debuff chance on the Occultist.
Basically, the Houndmaster would be on Mark duty with the Occultist as well as doing stress relief and killing everything, the Hellion would be bleeding and crit-ing all over the place, the Occultist would be doing debuffs and heals as well as marks, and the Abomination would be killing everything in sight.
That's a good combo, but you are only thinking about the boss. You need someone that can do some sort of stress relief in order to get there with a healthy team. There are some nasty witches that give 25 stress with just one attack and like to target the hero you have with the higher stress. I personally think you need a jester for sure. I also beat this dungeon using that combo and it was very easy, as long as you are smart with your turns
Furious Sherman I'm pretty sure marks won't last very long as the boss has multiple moves per turn, so a heavy hitter that doesn't relie on marks would be better (Or at least that's what I think)

yup. in fact, I think they make the shambler summon thing so common just to help train people how to deal with the shuffler.
I think I fought 20 shambler battles before I ever even tried the shuffler. if people don't learn what that lesson teaches... they pretty much deserve to have problems fighting the shuffler.

Grave Robber instead of Jester perhaps?
Could be good. Jester is better but the versatility aspect is the same. The only difference is it may be harder to stack blights than it is to stack bleeds
+MrFanaticadam GR can't reduce stress like Jester can, and you will find that if you are at 50 or greater stress on anyone going into the fight, they will be susceptible to a heart attack without any stress relief.
Exactly, people are only focusing on the boss fight, when they also have to account for the fights before getting there. I think the only one of that combo you cant switch is jester because of the stress relief
no. you don't need a jester. I've done it many times without one. there are plenty of other ways to keep stress minimized before you get to the boss fight. frankly, I hate jesters. waste of space.
this game is easy for me but its still fun watching guides sometimes
