My favorite thing about DD is by far the virtue system. there's no other feeling in the world like getting your butt kicked in a dungeon, and being saved at the last moment by a clutch virtue.
And yet most of the time you get screwed by an affliction. And then the whole time I'm screaming "just shut the fuck up" everything they open their mouth and stress out the rest of the team.
For real tho, i feel like a leper wouldn't really care about syphilis, as he is already horribly disfigured, and losing some skin and cartilage wouldn't change much

Absolutely my favourite part of DD is how the game doesn't *only* subvert tropes, but also knows when to utilize existing tropes proper in combination with subverted tropes. If the game was just the opposite of what everyone else does then in its own way it would be predictable - but they know when to utilise something classic and when to put their own spin on something - or when to be totally original!
My favorite: It was the first game I saw where the cosmic horror is perfect. Even the action is balanced by stress and mortality, portraying human inferiority.
I can't help but feel like the Dutchess shares some elements of the Slayer, the type of character who is strong out of the gate but is balanced by the fact that they're best use is soaking damage due to how slow they are.
Favorite part is easily how open the game is to modding (not disabling achievements is fairly uncommon) and how much care and respect is given to the game by the community to make sure mods fit the story. Also, welcome back.
as a part of the modding community of this game id actually say the opposite. the games code is incredibly wierd and restrictive in manny way. i have seen alot of mod concepts die because the code is wierd and restrictive
Easy and open aren't opposites. The point being is they allow modders and players a wide range of ways to change the game, how easy it is to do so is another story.

Can we stop for a minute and talk about what an amazing job the modding community has done with this game? The base is amazing sure the atmosphere is nice and all and so is the combat but there are so many interesting creations that people have made and I don't think the game would grab me any where near as much if there wasn't such an abundance of talent and skill coming out on a fairly regular basis
favourite thing about DD? the art style is just so unique and that combined with the dark theme of DD just makes the atmosphere just perfect. And of course the bone lads throwing wine at you I mean come on how can't you love that
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is that it exists. The whole game is a masterpiece. The theme, art, soundtrack and the sublime narration give a haunting feeling that hits me right in the guts. I see myself falling in love with the game everytime I replay it. Glad to have you back E5
The best part of the game for me is the dark humor. It permeates every facet of the game. The dialogue, character art, abilities, dungeons just all of it.
Best thing about Darkest Dungeon is how the community shaped the game, you can really see how a person likes to play when you see their mods list, there are crazy mods for crazy people, serious mods for serious people, and people who like to experience both at the same time or at different times (having them on separate files), and people who like vanilla, that only care about mastering the core mechanics, like a speedrunner. So, you can really play the game you wanna play, and not play the game the game wants you to play.
There are many things that one can enjoy about Darkest Dungeon, so picking just one is going to be exceptionally difficult. After all, this game sports a very unique artstyle, challenging gameplay, a wide variety of party combinations, outstanding music by Stuart Chatwood and fantastic voice acting by Wayne June. However, the thing that I enjoy the most about this outstanding game more then anything else is the community that has sprung up around it. The DD community has always been warm, welcoming and helpful as far as I have been able to see. It has provided us DD players with loads upon loads of additional content to enjoy, ranging from class mods, skin mods, enemy and boss mods to even entire new region mods. Therefore I have to say that the DD community is what I have enjoyed the most about this game, and that is saying quite a bit.
I originally found the game from Beartaffy. His reactions to the setting and narrator prompted me to pick it up for myself. I love the Art direction, the audio design, the setting, the voicework, The Challenging Game-play, and the characters. (Plague Doctor the best.) But what has kept me playing has been the Respectable business From Redhook in regards to their DLC, and the extremely Talented community. Thank you all for the artwork, Mods, Conversations, and general pleasantness. I am cautiously Hyped for DD2, Ready to descend into madness once again. Thank you all for being here with me.
What I love about this game? The fact that it also stresses about the mental health of the adventurers, it tells to look after your own people in their current mental state. Not many games do the same, but you can see the barks of when they're Virtuous or Afflicted. And it either help or hinder the team to the point where it could cause a party wipeout, personally mine are the Man-At-Arm barks. I love how he was in over wars, lost men, and lost lives beside him. Afraid to lose more, or protect and push on forward the other classes in his party.
My favorite part of darkest dungeon is when you aren't sure if you will win or lose and you see that lucky high damage Crit or virtue and you jump in your seat because even if things looked terrible you have hope and you believe you can do anything!
my favorite thing about about DD is the narrator and the music, to this day even though i stopped playing DD long ago i still quote the narrator every now and then "The match is struck, a blazing star is born."
The thing I enjoy most out of darkest dungeon are the stories you create yourself. The equally beautiful and horrifying struggles of fantastic characters and environments, given by the game and its amazing community Good to see you back E5 :D
My favorite thing about DD has to be the unbelievable talent of the community, marvin, claire, s-purple, and of course, you E5! And the list of talented modders keeps going. it really feels like a special happy tight-knit community we got here, and I love being a part of it!
Awesome, my favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is how the game doesn't pull any punches. If you make a mistake, you're going to feel it - but when you plan tactfully, it feels so rewarding!
My favorite part of DD is that in most games you are just told to fight until you can no longer and defeat isn't an option, but in DD defeat is allowed and expected, which mean sometimes you can push through and survive, and other time you simply need to bail if you want to keep everyone alive.
What I love about DD is it's atmosphere and the world it builds. And Wayne June's killer narraration wraps it all together for an awesome and immersive experience.
I love the art, the setting, the lovecraftian horror, the narrator/narration, But most important I love that all of these come together and create fantasric atmosphere...
My favorite things about Darkest Dungeon is the visuals, especially attack animations, and animations for becoming virtuous or afflicted, and the modding community for it, seriously the ideas the modding community comes up with are amazung.
The best thing about Darkest Dungeon is and always will be, the profound love for the rpg genre and the powerfull narrative that gives you when you see your heros figthing agains the odds.
I love the challenge the game has constantly forcing you to think instead of just click and go, and how the community can keep the game going with mods that change things up a bit.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is the modding community! From being able to connect with excellent people, testing new classes, and being able to make some of my favorite videos on them! I'm sure you can feel the same about this! Good to have things return to normal.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon? Between the rich modding community, top notch memes and genuinely solid game itself? Probably how people are so willing to make other franchised characters more lore-fitting for their modded classes.
For me it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what i s the best part, because for me it's the sum of every parts. The artstyle, the musics, the great voice of Wayne June, the lore and even the community. It all works so well together!
I love the way tides can turn in a moment's notice. Bosses can be steamrolled then BAM you're scraping for the last bit of damage you need. The art style is absolutely phenomenal as well and overall you can feel the level of love Red Hook put into DD. Can't wait for DD2!
I personally play her full human mode, using her fencer court trinket set. Buffing her repost and having a chance to just get an aegis when you get hit is amazing
The best thing about dd is the ambience, art style and the beautifully made narration. All these combined together make this a great game. I can't wait for dd2 to be realeased
My favourite thing about Darkest Dungeon is the rushes of terror and victory that come with all the comings and goings within a dungeon. Sure, you can be basking in your glory one moment, but that can all change when you run out of torchlight or even just have string of bad luck. I think what I'm trying to say here is that it's, as the Ancestor himself says, the "gnawing uncertainty" of every dungeon and the true feelings of victory that come from completion or the absolute shame or horror that you feel when you are forced to run away that always keep me coming back.
I think what i like about DD is that fact it doesnt hold back on its difficulty. It designed made to make you suffer yet provide ample rewards if you take the risks
My favorite thing about darkest dungeon is the amazing art style and the fantastic modding community that keeps me coming back after hundreds of hours.
My favorite thing about DD is the intense lovecraftian horror atmosphere. The psychological brutality of the dungeoneering is something that is truly unique to this game and I can't get enough of it.
My favorite thing about DD is the uniqueness despite using thingswe know and are familiar with but making it into something new by twisting it creating this great atmosphere.
Really glad that you're back and that you're feeling better. Don't ever worry if you need to take time off for personal or health reasons cause we'd rather you be happy and healthy and releasing content at a slower rate, than pushing too much and making things harder for yourself. ^^ I could easily say that I love a lot of the mechanical aspects of the game, such as the soundtrack and the character designs. I could also say that I like the way that the community is really respectful and supportive of each other and the creators who have built not just minor alternations to the base mechanics, allowing us to change the game to the way we want to play, but full and amazing characters who seamlessly fit into the aesthetic and mechanical mold of the game and even in some cases entire new regions. But my personal favourite thing? My personal favourite thing is the little stories that develop in the course of the mission. Not enormous epic scenes like a lot of RPGs, but little moments that allow me to imagine a story. Like my Shieldbreaker being throw onto the pyre by the Fanatic, surviving an attack at Death's Door, then landing the critical to kill him. Or my attack on Brigand Vvulf in which three of my four heroes virtued and the afflicted Vestal still never skipped a turn or lost control. Moments when the pendulum starts swing back towards you and the RNG answers your prayers and says "Not today Darkest Dungeon. I can be a merciless god, capricious and cruel, afflicting you at the worst times and leaving the party dead in the dirt, good for nothing but feeding the swine. But not today. Today you will stand and YOU WILL NOT BREAK."
Thanks, Richard. I appreciate the understanding. I've been forced to make a lot of changes and learn new balance this year, and I'm grateful things are changing for the better.
The best part about Darekest Dungeon ? The "heroes". They're full of personality and their design is awesome. There isn't a single one I don't love (the best one is the man-at-arms). Good thing the community makes really good heroes too.
Duchess is the only extra character mod I use and the best one there is IMO. She fits into the game very well as the Crimson Court rep. Some people be like "but she's too busty"; first off, corsets do that, and women exist with this body type. It's not illegal. Second, the entire point of Crimson Court is excess, it's pretty fitting.
The thing i love most about Darkedt Dungeon is the possibility of modding it, and the overall theme of horror that it managed to capture making it one of the most unique games out there on the market right now
Thank you for all your videos. Although I don't play any mods, I immensely enjoy seeing all those community mods. And that is my favorite part of DD: the art, stories and flavor of the characters and world around them. Truly makes a man's imagination whirl.
The best part about darkest dungeon in my opinion is how light affects how each dungeon raid gets affected, for example, in a normal dungeon, such as the ruins or cove, the darker it is, the more stuff you earn but the monsters get much harder to beat. I also love how the DLC areas have custom lighting effects which controls what could and most of the time would happen. It's amazing how a simple thing such as light can have such an effect on the gameplay
My favourite thing about Darkest Dungeon is probably the lore and how it works with the gameplay- I love the variety of enemies, bosses, classes, locations, trinkets, etc., and these are all facilitated by the BRILLIANT story (and narration of course) tying them all together. Without the cinematics, voiceovers, comics, pages, and so on, not only would the game lose something thematically and stylistically, but it would also lose a lot of the immersive justification for the gameplay, down to the Stress mechanic. The lore is like the foundation for everything else great about this game.
My favourite thing about Darkest Dungeon is the overall lovecraftian athmosphere and how the announcer adds to it. I hope they continue this theme in DD 2.
The best thing in darkest dungeon is the perfectly crafted atmosphere moreover it has incredible art style, narrating, and a brutal unforgiving combat system. It is unforgettable! (:
Best part about DD is The atmosphere from it. Every corner, every fight, every curio check, feels smooth and dark. Also the fell from landing the crit or recieve it....... How quickly the tide turns
My fav things are the community, which is bloody amazing, and the game itself obviously, the sound design, the art, amazing. Noticing a lot of MLD members around the comments aswell, no big surprise, your return to our community is an extremely welcome one, as a matter of fact, you were the one to get me into the MLD in the first place, where i dwell since. Thank you so much for everything you have done
My favorite Darkest Dungeon elements are the bosses and mini-bosses, all requiring a carefully-thought group or strategy and making for really enjoyable and stressful encounters. This, coupled with Wayne June's voice as the narrator, really gives the game a lot of appeal.
I love the uniqueness of the heroes you can get. Especially when starting the game, you can really get attached to some heroes that develop into epic characters for your hamlet.
I love darkest dungeon, how challenging it can be and still be fun, the art style, the style of the characters, the community and the atmosphere, what's not to love
My favourite thing about this game? I could name every last bit of it but the most important to me is the atmosphere which had me on the edge all the time ^^
Ah, SO GLAD to see this series continue! ^__^ Been using this class for a little while now. Sure, it'd be nice to get the comic (I'm sure someone will throw some money around to get it done eventually), but as it is now? It's fantastic, and you can clearly tell a lot of effort went into this mod. The overall look is extremely faithful to the game's style, but it's the smaller details that make this one of my favourite mods. The way her sprite's walking animation moves? They could've just gone with some dress-like swishing, but no, the sprite's been animated to clearly indicate she's not human. And not only that, but the mod makers gave her her own unique bark lines for various circumstances, while other modders would just use the stock library of barks. As for her gameplay, I really like how the modders made different sets of CC trinkets for different circumstances. I'm personally not big big fan of transformation mechanics in general, and there's a CC trinket set for that player preference, and I really appreciate that. I, too, like to start her in the back line- specifically position 4. That way I can hit with Noble Obligation twice before starting up the Ripostemobile. I've got one criticism, though: the Crimson Curse aspect of her character. I mean... she HAS it, but can still get it again? Yes, you could argue it's the Courtyard strain afflicting her, and I get that, but regardless of what beastly form she'd take, the fundamental cravings are still there. I'm guessing the modders just left it as is because it would be difficult to implement a workaround for her strain; plus if they did include that aspect of her, you'd have to be taking care of her condition ALL THE TIME. Still, I wish that feeding her some Blood would give her a boost, or heal her somewhat. After completing the Courtyard and being able to treat the Crimson Curse, your stockpile of blood just keeps building, only to be used if you're purposely giving character the Curse. One final thing: Leech?! I thought she was maybe some mutated millipede, fitting with the insect theme. That's just... Nope. Nope. Nope nope nope nope...
Imo, here is not "the" best Thing about DD. It is the whole thing which is just incredible stunning. Even tho, the whole artstyle and Theme is just my flipping favorite. Probably the reason i love this game so much :D
To me, the best feeling in the world is when everything goes badly, you're ramping on stress, your favorite character hits 100 stress, and then... VIRTUE!
Well I'm loving the narrator and modding community allowing some outstanding additions to the game that each feel unique with my favorite modded character currently being Artorias the Abysswalker. Now I've got to learn how to play since im fairly new to the game but I gotta thank you E5 for getting me into the game. I don't know why I didn't play this earlier.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is definitely the narrator, it really amuses me to listen to him while playing the game! Missed DD mod vids, keep up the good work E5! :D
For me, the best part about darkest dungeon is the moment when you are able to complete the quest even after a lot of things go wrong. That feeling of being nearly beaten to the point where you're barely conscious after the mission is accomplished.
I enjoy that you can Plan and Strategize but are still forced to be quick on your feet if something wents wrong. Also i believe that Darkest dungeons modding Scene is fantastic to provide new and even different Wways to play.
I love this game setting, gameplay, art style I've been playing since kickstarter and hardly see myself growing tired of this game, the mod community making everything feels fresh. (I am glady you're back E5)
My favorite part of DD is for sure the crushing yet fair difficulty of BloodMoon despite a tasteful mount of RNG. Always fun and challenging, but you're never quite 100% safe
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is the sound design, everything from the music to narrator just fits perfectly with the atmosphere the game is trying to convey and even the sound effects of hits just feels good.
My favorite part about Darkest Dungeon is definitely the atmosphere that the art and the narration creates. I came for the art style, I stayed for the replay-ability that the modding community has been giving to Darkest Dungeon :>
My favorite part is the characters. I love the details of each and every one of them. Their barks are interesting and helps put them into perspective. Really makes them feel alive and unique from one another.
The best part is definitely the atmosphere, the fact that everything can be lost in a split of a second, the narrator adds to this heavily. Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
Best thing about darkest dungeon is like i wise man once said "Remind Yourself That Overconfidence Is A Slow and Insidious Killer".Ancestor's random quote Number 7 .
My favorite part of Darkest Dungeon is how much care has been put in all elements, from the art that give the gloom darkness, the creative lore for every Boss and character, the music very firing for every area and situation of combat (Love the Cove combat music bdw), the narrator that will push you to excel and criticize when close to fail, how it clean with its number during combat mailing it easier to understand and make decisions. Basically love almost of all it, several times have been in the border of nerve braking trying to make my heroes just survive. Crunching numbers and gambling my chances. This game is an experience in on itself. :D
Welcome back man. Glad your surgery went well. I find one of the best parts of darkest dungeon, (aside from the awesome dark art style that i love and the amazing lore and its characterization made by wayne june) is how addictive it can be by making you have a bad time, almost as if you were in the game. I know this sounds weird. Ill explain: First of all ill start saying that ive never liked turn based games, they always have appealed slow and boring to me. However DD caught my eye because of the art and because of the champion classes, which i immediately dug. So i watched a few gameplays and bought the game, and hell, now it's one of my favourites. The strategy that it involved and how every single insignificant acction (using certain ability, bandaging bleeds, checking curios etc) could mean the difference between life and death is so stressing and the stress mechanic in game makes you immerse even deeper into it and the dramatism increases drastically. Every time your blighted champion gets critted by 22 damage and sent to the death's door your heart skips a beat and then starts pounding like crazy. Heroes die, never to be played again, everything is stressing, everything goes wrong, afflictions fly, traps are triggered and those damn fiddlers wont stop playing that awful tune, but in the end, when you complete the mission (or not) you feel the exhaustion and the pain of going through hell and just feel like one more of the party, worn away, battered and bloody, and with your nerves on the brink of a heart attack, and masochistic as it sounds, it's intoxicating and makes you crave for another hellish quest. Also, if the ride is difficult, the reward of completing it is all the more satisfying. I always say that darkest dungeon is the first game i love that i have a bad time with. I think that's what makes this game unique.
"Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer." The art is truly phenomenal and narration brings inevitable sense of doom presenting you that small victories matter.Perhaps a turning point. Also a quote "As life ebbs terrible vistas of emptiness reveal themselves" and many more.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is and has always been it unique atmosphere, it distinct artwork, and of course the one of a kind narrator that is Wayne June. The gameplay which make every embark out into the terrifying unknown take hours, letting you feel beaten down and wore. Having to fight monsters, beast, and fellow man from the darkest corners the mind human mind that any sane person could just barely comprehend. All the while the Ancestors quips and monologues make their way into your mind, letting you see and hear about the horrors this sociopath had done to achieve his goal, and make you wonder what kind of monster could kill without feeling, while the bodies fall at your feet. All to then coming home to the Hamlet a seen your soldiers tired and damage, the faces of the unfeeling and desolate townsfolk, and the knowledge that there can be no hope in this hell, no hope at all. If you couldn't tell, let me just say that I love this game so much.
I would also like to congratulate you on your recovery! I missed coming back home from a long day at school to dive right back into hell with you on your stream! Can't wait to see what you make now that you've recovered, and here's hoping that you can keep up the good content!
My favorite thing about darkest dungeon just gotta be the whole artstyle. Its perfectly fitting the dark and gruesome atmosphere of the game and works great with the sound design to form a really great package that many modern games lack.
I love the fact that Darkest is unfair, unforgiving (ironic sometimes) being so unpredictable makes your wins very satisfying.. it tests your mental and teaches you to not be overly attached, accept defeat and get over it. It gave me a new pov irl: life waits for nobody so you gotta keep it together in times of need, take time to heal your mental, know when to stop being stubborn, when to surrender, do not to attempt smthing new without a plan.. etc. The voice acting of W.J ofc is absolutely amazing.. and the Lovecraft elements are very well executed graphic/lore wise :)
The best part about darkest dungeon is the art style and the narration. Me and my dad always kept repeating lines from the narrator back and forth to each other when we played.
Gotta say the best part about all of it is how easily you can lose a couple of hours into it. Fun and amazing game that I can play for days on end. One of my more favorite games by far.
My favorite things about Darkest Dungeon is, without a shadow of a doubt, the narrator. His aggrandized, verbose utterances full of abstruse lexicon feel superlatively gratifying. Simply magnificent.
Since the Duchess’s lore and backstory is connected to the Crimson Courtyard, I always brought her to that place and made sure she had the killing blow against all of the bosses... It just seem fitting.
The best part about Darkest Dungeon has got to be the art style and atmosphere. Wayne June also does a killer job as the narrator.

My favorite this about Darkest Dungeon is the atmosphere of horror and dispair. The narration of Mr. June the special ingredient.
The best thing about Darkest dungeon is its fantastic atmosphere and the mods that manage to capture that atmosphere and even build upon it.
My favorite part of darkest dungeon is when you aren't sure if you will win or lose and you see that lucky high damage Crit or virtue and you jump in your seat because even if things looked terrible you have hope and you believe you can do anything!
my favorite thing about about DD is the narrator and the music, to this day even though i stopped playing DD long ago i still quote the narrator every now and then
"The match is struck, a blazing star is born."
The thing I enjoy most out of darkest dungeon are the stories you create yourself. The equally beautiful and horrifying struggles of fantastic characters and environments, given by the game and its amazing community
Good to see you back E5 :D
My favorite thing is how darkest dungeon shows tragic histories of heroes like abomination, leaper or story of darius the highwayman.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is the modding community!
From being able to connect with excellent people, testing new classes, and being able to make some of my favorite videos on them!
I'm sure you can feel the same about this! Good to have things return to normal.
My favorite thing about darkest dungeon is the community!
And you
love the profile pic mate
You mean, the community that makes overpowered uncensored anime characters? Why yes
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon? Between the rich modding community, top notch memes and genuinely solid game itself? Probably how people are so willing to make other franchised characters more lore-fitting for their modded classes.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon?
I'd say the music. Still giving me PTSD
Well, do you know music from Intro? Especially name
Best part of DD is the mix of risk / reward with the gameplay. Also gotta love Wayne Jude's narrations
My favourite thing about the game is the wonderful community and mods, but also the theme of the game itself, and the tactical side of fights
Really glad that you're back and that you're feeling better. Don't ever worry if you need to take time off for personal or health reasons cause we'd rather you be happy and healthy and releasing content at a slower rate, than pushing too much and making things harder for yourself. ^^
I could easily say that I love a lot of the mechanical aspects of the game, such as the soundtrack and the character designs.
Thanks, Ophir! It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy these mod spotlights even if you don't play any of them. :)
So satisfying when she swing her big fucking sword and crit.
One of the best riposte class.
Best thing about DD? The community, hands down.
The way they support each other through creating mods is fantastic. Super close-knit and positive.
Been using this class for a little while now.
Thanks for hangin in there, felipe! Great to be making content again. :)
The best part of Darkest Dungeon has to be the sheer amount of characters available to us, and the stories that come with those characters.
i've waited for this one. Love the duchess
I like the hopeless atmosphere of the game and the creativity of the modding community.
They had a field day with the potential of this character! She is extremely fun to play with, and is definitely one of my favorite mods
Best thing about darkest dungeon is like i wise man once said "Remind Yourself That Overconfidence Is A Slow and Insidious Killer".Ancestor's random quote Number 7 .
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is all the effort and love the modders put into their work.
My favorite things about Darkest Dungeon would be the Soundtrack ,Lore the fact that it reminds me of dnd, and of course the awesome Community
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon is and has always been it unique atmosphere, it distinct artwork, and of course the one of a kind narrator that is Wayne June. The gameplay which make every embark out into the terrifying unknown take hours, letting you feel beaten down and wore. Having to fight monsters, beast, and fellow man from the darkest corners the mind
human mind that any sane person could just barely comprehend.
All the while the Ancestors
quips and monologues make their way into your mind, letting you see and hear about the horrors this sociopath had done to achieve his goal, and make you wonder what kind of monster could kill without feeling, while the bodies fall at your feet.
I love the Duchess. Unfortunately mine was recently killed in a run through the sunward isles. She was my only champion.
My favourite thing about darkest dungeon has to be the music composition across all the areas :)
My favorite thing about darkest dungeon just gotta be the whole artstyle. Its perfectly fitting the dark and gruesome atmosphere of the game and works great with the sound design to form a really great package that many modern games lack.
My favorite thing about Darkest Dungeon, honestly, are the great little communities around content creaters like you and AdamvsEverything
My favorite thing is probably the setting and atmosphere it's able to create and what it can make you feel.
