My first ever time in the airport was 1984 or 1985. I was in my first year at Junior School and we went on a school trip there. I seem to recall we all had questions about the airport to fill out and all the answers were around us. We just had to look. We also got to see where the emergency services are based - which is of course off limits normally. But we got special permission. The second time was to see my Dutch Granddad leave for Holland who was going home on a KLM flight after visiting us for the first time. My mum and her dad had recently been reunited. He would use the DFDS ferry from North Shields from then till his death. The first time I went there for a flight was only in July of 2019 to Jersey with my girlfriend. I really hope to go on another flight when this covid-19 virus is over.

Woah so that's what the 747 was therefor ahh right I was there when it was there. Wow!.
The airport will celebrate its 80th aniversary next year and can not accomodate the Airbus a 380.
They might if future goes to plan with brexit and they are seeking to expand airport soon.
At least...not yet :)
