That show along with ABC's "In Concert" were two of my favorite shows growing up. MTV was still down the road! You just never can go wrong listening to the Dan! This song is funky and soulful, from Fagan's opening chords, to the groovy horns to Jeff Baxter's stinging guitar solo. 🎸🎸🎸 Wow, a perfect showcase for the unique style the band created with their magical abilities to entertain. Actually one of the best bandsever, Donald is just a music genius. Whatever Steely Dan did, I loved it, starting with Do it again and later this masterpiece AJA ! Whatever awesome !!

That's where Becker and Fagen met & played together in a variety of bands from their time together studying at Bard College. The song is about a drug bust they & their girlfriends were in, and includes reference to "Daddy G" (G Gordon Liddy who was a local prosecutor at the time). Great song! Oh, and an interesting fact.....Fagen did, in fact, go back to his old school, returning to Bard in 1985 to receive an honorary degree.

"California tumbles into the sea..." -- that line always caught my attention hearing this on the radio when I was a kid growing up in California. It was followed by a horn flourishes down a descending scale to illustrate the sense of falling. That's missing here because the horns are missing from the performance. But they're really rocking hard on it just the same.
Fantastic! This has always been one of my favorite Steely Dan tunes and it is awesome to see it played live, and sounding so good. I wish I was there! And I agree 100% - the 70’s were the pinnacle for great music, at least to my ears 🤘
Jeff "The Skunk" Baxter is definitely and undoubtedly one of the most underrated guitar players ever. The man has played with so many people and bands and has played on so many studio albums it's ridiculous. The man needs some major credit tossed in his direction.

Between Fagen and Becker at this time, they look like The Son of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man, but ooooh, the talent! The talent!! I've seen them before, but I never realized how big Fagen's mouth is. I'm sure that helps him belt out some of his vocals, though. Awesome!!
