Paul McCartney wrote this song about his wife Linda, who died of breast cancer in 1998. McCartney never wavered in his love for Linda, and even made her part of his band so she could tour with him. "Maybe I'm Amazed" was written in 1969 just after The Beatles broke up. McCartney credits Linda with helping him get through this difficult time. The studio version of this song was never released as a single (no tracks on the album were), but it is one of the most enduring songs on McCartney's first solo album. A concert version was released as a single in 1977 to promote the Wings Over America live album. Credited to Paul McCartney & Wings, it went to #10 in the US in April 1977. Peace out.

Seriously, "Silly Love Songs" Should give it a reaction...... As Always, Glad you do this! Thanks
That little girl is Linda's daughter, Heather, which Paul took as his own. True, true love. The baby is Mary, Paul and Linda's first baby. This was a major hit.
Hi! Thanks for sharing! Been a Beatles fan for 55 years and I still get goosebumps when I hear this song. You must check out Paul’s fist band, after the Beatles, Wings. Enjoy!
'Maybe I'm Amazed' was written by Paul who was feeling down with the Beatles breaking up. He briefly turned to drinking. His wife, as Paul tells it saved his life. She encouraged him to start writing and recording music again This song was a song to his wife Linda. Paul & Linda were together every night. The only night they spent apart was when he was jailed in Japan. That's another story.
He was only 29, the Bestles were tearng apart , depressed and sank into alcohol when he made this record alone, recording all instruments. He player drums, piano, solos, mixed and produced all by himself in his farm in Scotland
It was the live version of Maybe I'm Amazed that peaked at # 10 on the Billboard Singles Chart. It is the definitive version of the song. From the live album called Wings Over America. 😮😊
I've heard this probably hundreds of times over the decades, and still, each time, the first seconds his voice kicks in are absolutely stunning. McCartney's voice is just so smooth, so pure, so damn beautiful, it's unreal. And this song really shows it off. This song is a staple of classic rock - I'd assume known by everyone who listens to such music regularly. As for it being "a hit", apparently it wasn't released as a single, but a live version was and was a top ten in the USA. According to Wikipedia: _Although the original recording has never been released as a single, a live performance by McCartney's later band Wings, from the live album Wings over America, was released in 1977; this version became a top-ten hit in the United States and reached number 28 in the United Kingdom. ... In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Maybe I'm Amazed" number 347 on its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list._
A love song to his wife, Linda. Paul - The Beatles, Solo Artist, Wings...he was hugely successful post-Beatles. Man, BP...React to his Bond theme "Live and Let Die" - pretty, pretty, please.🤣 BTW, "Maybe I'm Amazed" is one of my favorite songs, EVER...
@@tjtampa214 I've been begging BP to react to "Live and Let Die" for months. I won't give up!🤣First Bond film to feature Roger Moore...and I think this was Jane Seymour's first film...period. I can still picture the scene where Roger/Bond runs across the backs of those alligators!
Paul loved and adored his wife Linda. Sadly, she passed away. Paul & Linda had a band called "Paul McCartney and Wings. This song, "Maybe I'm Amazed" was pretty big back then. One of my favorites. 💙🎶
Not only did he play every instrument on this song, but he also produced and engineered it himself at his home studio. Recorded it on a simple Studer 4 track, without a mixing console. Did the whole album that way. Crazy.
Paul had 39 top 40 songs after leaving the Beatles, including 9 songs that went to number 1. That includes the number 1 duet with Stevie Wonder (Ebony and Ivory), the number 2 track, The Girl is Mine and the number 1 track, Say Say Say, both with Michael Jackson, and the number 4 track, FourFiveSeconds with Rhianna and Kanye.
Paul had the best solo career of all the Beatles! He formed a new band a year or so after the Beatles breakup called Wings! Their stuff is fire! Gotta listen to Band on the Run, Uncle Albert/Admiral Pailsey, Let em in, Silly Love songs, Jet, Live and Let Die, among many others
Paul was still in his twenties when he wrote this! The Beatles had accomplished so much in such a short space of time, their originality, quality and output will never be repeated. Not in our lifetimes anyway.
Paul wrote this while the Beatles were breaking up. He was devastated and Linda helped bring him out of it. He included it on his first post-Beatles album, but he didn't release it as a single. For a long time it was considered a hidden gem in his catalog. When Wings (his next band) got huge, they released a live album (Wings Over America), they released a live version of Maybe I'm Amazed as a single, that got into the top 10. This version is all Paul...all instruments (Linda sang some backing vocals). Regarding his post Beatles career, he had tons of hits, both solo and with Wings. Check out the "Band on the Run" album and song for great example of this.
This was a song when he came out of a deep depression from the break up of the Beatles. This was a love song thanking his wife Linda in getting him out of this depression. He played every instrument in this song.
There's a live version of MAYBE I'M AMAZED that gets tons of airplay on all the classic rock stations. It's repeatedly and continually been high on all the best 100 lists of live rock recordings. Because it's from the middle of the concert, McCartney's singing and piano playing are fully charged and raw. And Wings - fantastic! Jimmy McCulloch's lead guitar absolutely wails. Also very raw. And unlike the album version, it does not fade out, but instead culminates in one of Paul's best song endings. I believe it's from the live WINGS OVER AMERICA album. Must hear, my man!
Regarded as one of McCartney's finest love songs, it achieved the number 347 position in the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list compiled by Rolling Stone magazine in November 2004.
The discography of British musician Paul McCartney consists of 26 studio albums, four compilation albums, nine live albums, 37 video albums, two extended plays, 111 singles, seven classical albums, five electronica albums, 17 box sets, and 79 music videos. All after the Beatles broke up !
The Beatles were a phenomenon from 1963 until their breakup in 1970... but they never truly got their dues financially... and because their equipment was limited in the 60's, most people never got to experience them live (They played stadiums in 1966 but no one could hear them) Paul McCartney did not have the phenomenal record sales that The Beatles had, but he launched his solo career in the early 70's and built his career from the ground up without cashing in on his Beatles fame... He scored a string of gold and platinum selling records in the 70's, 80's and 90's and played arenas and stadiums since the mid-70's (His band Wings dominated the 70's) Because the sound equipment had vastly improved since the 60's, Paul McCartney got to play for millions of fans live and they could hear him and his band live. Paul McCartney did work w/ Michael Jackson and he sang on his track 'The girl is mine'... and MJ sang on his song - 'Say say say' in the 80's (Their friendship ended after MJ outbid McCartney for the rights to the Beatles catalog) That was how Paul McCartney became a legend and up there as a solo artist w/ The Rolling Stones... he just had hit records decade after decade and his audience multiplied through the years and now, he draws massive crowds at his concerts and still makes records. "Maybe I'm amazed" was for his (now late) wife Linda McCartney... After The Beatles broke up in 1970, Paul McCartney sued the members to terminate their partnership (McCartney did not trust manager Allen Klein, who managed the other 3 Beatles)... While the case was in court, McCartney's assets were frozen and he was broke... he and wife Linda had 2 kids to support and Paul went into a depression for months, while Linda had to care for the family. Linda could have left him but she loved Paul and knew that he could be a great singer again... After their daughter Stella was born (her third, his second child), Paul started to be inspired again and formed the band Wings... and he asked Linda to join the band so that they could be together on tour as a family... Linda could barely play keyboards or sing but she joined Wings to support Paul and they never spent time apart... Linda always went on tour w/ Paul. It was devastating for them both when Linda was diagnosed w/ cancer in the 90's and she passed away in 1998... Paul still talks about Linda McCartney to this day... All his love songs were dedicated to her.
"How big did he go, solo?" Paul's post-Beatles career was amazing. Demoralised, blamed for breaking up the Beatles and battling against the worst the critics could throw at him, he founded Wings from basically nothing and made them a top act with a string of 5 consecutive #1 albums, many #1 or top-10 singles and gigantic US and world tours. By 1978 he'd released a single that outsold the Beatles' biggest hits and remains to this day the top-selling non-charity single of all time in the UK. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Wings beat Elton John's tally of 25 top-40 Billboard hits with 27, making them "the best-selling pop act of the 1970s". As nearly as anyone possibly could have done, he put the Beatles behind him and proved himself by changing gear and doing it all over again. An astonishing achievement.
Paul was recovering from the breakup of the Beatles. He was only 28 or 29. He and his wife Linda had bought a remote farm on the coast in Scotland. He built a studio and started composing again, mostly on his own, but brought in other musician friends to jam with. One of my favorites from this time is "Mull of Kintyre" (the peninsula they lived on). He brought in a local bagpipe band. It's beautiful, and chokes me up every time. The Scots love it so much it became an unofficial national anthem, and they still play it at football games, and all sing along.
McCartney was still in post-Beatles grief, especially missing John. He'd been in a dry spell, unsure if he could ever write again, when Linda reminded him that *he was Paul McCartney* ... writing & singing was what he did. This song was Paul's most beautiful outcome of that reminder, in my opinion to this day. This song was a *massive* hit in the early '70s.
Yay Paul's soul really shines through. Band on the run is a great song too. George Harrison my sweet lord is amazing too. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
The real GOAT!! HIS musicality is mind blowing. I have seen Paul McCartney three times and Paul McCartney and Wings one time. This was the first concert I ever attended! Atlanta GA at the Omni 1976 I think I was 11. Amazing stage presence!! What a Legend he was and still is!❤❤❤
Paul is still creating new music at 82 yrs old, and still performing. Very versatile composer. He can play multiple instruments and played every instrument on this song. He has created music for movies. He has created classical symphonies. Love ballads, rock, blues, Prog rock, metal music, the list of genres goes on and on. He was the driving force of the Beatles. Ringo once said, if it wasn’t for Paul, the Beatles would have made 3 albums instead of 14, plus compilation records. The guy loves to create. Paul would call the others up and suggest they get into the studio and create songs! Oh, okay. This was a huge hit. One of his best songs. Paul also paints. And he created the Liverpool Oratorio School of Performing Arts. The Queen of England came to the opening. The first rock and roll billionaire. He’s done so many things and he has a lot of charities, too. His daughter, Stella is the infamous Fashion Designer, who designs for people who can afford her clothing. Watch the Oscars…some are wearing her clothes. His son, James, also plays guitar and has a band….as do all the Beatle’s kids. The Beatle’s kids could literally have a Beatles 2.0 band if they wanted to. Apples don’t fall far from the tree.
Blackbird, Eleanor Rigby and Dear Prudence are profound poetry and have been recognized as such, especially Blackbird. (Beatles.) Dear Prudence is my favorite Beatles tune...❤❤❤❤

He was always my favorite. I loved all of his music. You can't go wrong with any of his stuff. Nineteen hundred eighty five, Band on the Run, Mull of Kintyre
What is blindingly obvious is that, for all his wealth, his prestige, his power & influence, love is just incomparably the most important in his - or anybody's - life. When we love we are truly kings (but you already know this).
He was pretty skint and in depression when this was recorded. The Beatles had split up and in court their accounts were frozen until it was settled. Linda his wife, got him out of the depression by showing him he could write again.
Big hit. He played all the instruments as well. He was in the midst of the break up with the Beatles while writing this. Could have inspired some of the lyrics, "lonely man" etc. This is my all time fav McCartney song. Great melody, lead guitar, piano etc.
Paul McCartney had the most successful solo career of all 4 Beatles members. He has another band called Wings that had really good songs with that band. Check them out.
After the Beatles break up he suffered from depression and doubted his own ability as an artist. According to his own words it was his wife Linda who helped him through these dark days. This amazing song was - among others - the result of his newly found confidence and his way of showing his gratitude to his wife.
Yes it's a big song, in general. Like all of the classic rock songs you react to here, it's part of the soundtrack of everyone's life who grew up in the 1970s and 80s... everyone who had access to a radio... 👍😎

Just as you would be thinking, "I do not want another Silly Love Song, that guitar solo would kick in, and you would damn near drive the car off the road doing air guitar behind the steering wheel..... Seriously, "Silly Love Songs" Should give it a reaction...... As Always, Glad you do this! Thanks
Yes, big, huge song. No mid life crisis. Just really great music from him.
That little girl is Linda's daughter, Heather, which Paul took as his own. True, true love. The baby is Mary, Paul and Linda's first baby. This was a major hit.
Paul DID ADOPT Heather with permission from her biological dad Melvin See, Linda's ex husband.
Paul McCartney, even apart from his Beatles work, is in the top 3 ALL TIME in solo records sold and artist revenue.
Remember Paul played every instrument in this cut
TY. I did not know this! Can Paul's talent get even more awesome....probably!😀
Paul McCartney had 49 top 40 hits after the Beatles and still puts out music to this day
I've heard this probably hundreds of times over the decades, and still, each time, the first seconds his voice kicks in are absolutely stunning.
According to Wikipedia:
_Although the original recording has never been released as a single, a live performance by McCartney's later band Wings, from the live album Wings over America, was released in 1977; this version became a top-ten hit in the United States and reached number 28 in the United Kingdom. ... In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Maybe I'm Amazed" number 347 on its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list._
One of the few songs Paul composed out of depression and insecurity.
Paul wrote or co-wrote 32 songs that went to number one making him the most successful songwriter in history.
Paul played every instrument on this song in the studio
A love song to his wife, Linda. Paul - The Beatles, Solo Artist, Wings...he was hugely successful post-Beatles. Man, BP...React to his Bond theme "Live and Let Die" - pretty, pretty, please.🤣 BTW, "Maybe I'm Amazed" is one of my favorite songs, EVER...
Oh yeah, "Live & Let Die!" 💜That was a huge hit on the radio & the 8th James Bond movie by the same named (Summer of '73 !! 🎵 HUGE.)
@@rubyslippers8215 I'm with ya Ruby. Haha.
Paul McCartney's Let Me Roll You. Great Song !!!
I think 12 number 1s
@@matthewashman1406 I don't know how you get 12. I'm just counting the US singles.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
Paul McCartney is the only person to win at least one Grammy in each these decades
60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000, 2010, and 2020.
The live version of this from 'Wings Over America' was the hit version. Paul McCartney and Wings, Wings and solo.
Best Paul McCartney song as solo act (with Wings) - Live and Let Die - theme to the James Bond Movie.
Paul with Wings set the world on FIRE from day 1.
The Beatles were a phenomenon from 1963 until their breakup in 1970... but they never truly got their dues financially... and because their equipment was limited in the 60's, most people never got to experience them live (They played stadiums in 1966 but no one could hear them)
Paul McCartney did not have the phenomenal record sales that The Beatles had, but he launched his solo career in the early 70's and built his career from the ground up without cashing in on his Beatles fame...
Paul McCartney did work w/ Michael Jackson and he sang on his track 'The girl is mine'... and MJ sang on his song - 'Say say say' in the 80's (Their friendship ended after MJ outbid McCartney for the rights to the Beatles catalog)
That was how Paul McCartney became a legend and up there as a solo artist w/ The Rolling Stones... he just had hit records decade after decade and his audience multiplied through the years and now, he draws massive crowds at his concerts and still makes records.
Yes. This is a very famous song.
Yes,Big song!!❤
One of the great true love songs in rock.
I think Mull of Kintyre is my favorite McCartney song. The bagpipes sealed the deal.
Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
The studio version was never released as a single but a live version went to number 10. He was huge as a solo artist with his group Wings
Mull of Kentyre is so moving and gorgeous. The bagpipes will blow your mind!!
Got to see him sing it live a few years ago...made me tear up. Awesome song.
I consider it a big hit for him - I have always loved this song since the first time that I heard it.
Paul McCartney is the GOAT
Omg he was hugggge when he went solo...yes, this song was huge, and he was really relying on Linda when he left the Beatles...he IS still making music
Saw him in concert 3 or 4 years ago. He was phenomenal.
the live version is f'ing legendary
YES .this was a huge hit. he had alot of hits after the beatles especially the mid 70's that i have just recently rediscovering.
YES! A BIG SONG.
The pure raw beauty of this song is timeless ❤
Paul McCartney is an icon. He is a musical genius! Love this song and I love your reaction!
Blackbird, Eleanor Rigby and Dear Prudence are profound poetry and have been recognized as such, especially Blackbird. (Beatles.) Dear Prudence is my favorite Beatles tune...❤❤❤❤
The man is a rock god. Probably nobody ever bigger than Sir Paul!
It’s a huge hit.
PAUL HAD ONE HIT ALBUM AFTER ANOTHER HIS BAND WINGS WAS THE BIGGEST CONCERT DRAW FOR OVER THERE ENTIRE CAREER, ALSO THE MOST SUCCESSFUL BEATLE WITH SOLO CAREER , HE RULED THE CHARTS THROUGHOUT 70S AND 80S..THE ENTIRE WINGS ALBUM BAND ON THE RUN IS LIKE A GREATEST HITS ALBUM... CHECKOUT BAND ON THE RUN , LIVE AND LET DIE, UNCLE ALBERT , JET , LET HIM IN ANYTHING BY MCCARTNEY AND WINGS IS A BANGER......
Paul is so good. He did some great music solo.
Yes it's a big song, in general. Like all of the classic rock songs you react to here, it's part of the soundtrack of everyone's life who grew up in the 1970s and 80s... everyone who had access to a radio... 👍😎
I love this song! Paul had many great songs in second band Wings.
Oh Paul the greatest ...The talent this man has is his legacy. Such a long career.still touring pegasus
You need to check out "Band on the Run". another great song from Paul McCartney and Wings.
I concur
Saw Paul and Linda in concert together years ago in Philadelphia in their “wings Over America “ tour and it was awesome
Paul McCartney is my favorite Beattle. Fabulous singer, excellent at a lot of instruments, talented writer!
He was huge solo, my whole childhood was Mccartney on the radio every day. way bigger and more hits than even John.
Paul McCartney's band after The Beatles is Wings, With A Little Luck, Silly Love Songs, Coming Up, Listen To What The Man Says, Let 'Em In, Jet, Band On The Run
