      Was the default LLC on your Apex Encore 3 prior to the new BIOS?
      It is on my cheaper motherboard and it is way worse than the LLC6 I go with to keep voltages and power low.
      If it was 3 at default then an increase in the default setting to LLC5 would help a lot with higher low use volts and stability issues.

      After updating the BIOS and choosing the Intel profile, I tested on CIN R23, the performance of the core dropped to 3000 Hz, and so did the score. Why? CPU 14700

      @@user-jv1vf4lc7x Select the intel extreme profile, enable XMP and apply some offset undervolt by CPU and if it was OK before it will be OK after. The new microcode gave me even more room for undervolting my 14700K and my 13600K as well, so now both my CPUs are faster and cooler.

    I have the MSI Z790 Carbon Wifi motherboard and applied the new BIOS which works very well...Will not get anywhere near 1.6v!!! Though I always set a fixed vcore of 1.325v which is more than enough for an all core 5.6GHz and great performance. If I want performance durinmng testing I used 1.350v and a 320w limit, 41K Cinebench R23 multi thread score with temps in low 90's and vcore at 1.36v under load.

    I enjoyed this video. It was informative. I downloaded and installed the latest Gigabyte bios update - F11C which was supposed to have Intel defaults. Shockingly it still doesn’t match what the specs say on Intels website for my CPU. I’ve never seen this level of incompetence between Mobo manufacturers and Intel.

    Core voltage (vcore in monitoring application) is what counts. Because that's what is actually fed to the CPU v rail

Oh and do update to the new BIOS, did not mean not to...But sdo not leave vcore to auto, go adaptive ofr fixed as you then will no for sureww your cpu is not boosting voiltage to absurd 1.5 or 1.6v levels.

      Still not sure why most people dont just go into the bios and set a fixed or adaptive vcore. For testing and getting good numbers I go 1.350v and a 320w limit getting 41K cinebench R23 with temps in check on a 360mm aio. For normal use 1.325v...no issues whatsoever. I don't know man, still looking kinda crazy in terms of voltage. I tweaked my 14900KF with 5.8GHz at all cores with 1.29V max voltage, and the other setting which I prefer even more is 5.5GHz with 1.24V max voltage. The drop in performance is slim to none, in R23 scores around 41k multi-threaded, don't care much about single-thread, pretty much everything is multi-threaded nowadays. But the drop in temps and the whole "degradation" thing is quite significant. I'd still get rid of those 6.2GHz cores and lock all on at least 5.8Ghz, the trade off is too much for those extra 0.4GHz, which are not used in most cases anyway. 1.5+V is just not okay.

    • @Bang4BuckPCGamer
      @Bang4BuckPCGamer  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      "I don't know" And that is about as much as I need to hear. No one knows the exact amount of voltage which creates degradation. The 14900KS is binned and can handle up to 1.5v. If it couldn't then why would Intel even make this CPU? I'm not going to willingly gimp my own CPU just to spare Intel's blushes.

    Hey can I just point out one thing, you are saying that its less than what it "should" be. Keep in mind that these speeds we are getting now are what they should have been when they released.
    The fact that we are now under control and seeing safe voltages means that the silicone was not meant for those speeds and were always considered OC levels of performance.. Just cause it can doesnt mean you should for long periods of time (which is what was happening by default). The safe speeds were 320 watt with certain boost timings on P0 and P1. The fact that was never in there in the beginning meant that we were always going to get better performance at the cost of the CPU's life span. - I lost my 13900kf to this degradation issue recently and had it warrantied by my reseller here in NZ but absolutely these speeds are not what they should have been from factory.
    Think of it as an accidental free OC without being told its an OC. Its a huge problem on Intels side for not communicating correctly to their partners around this and now that they are bringing the voltages down and back into line in a STOCK fashion, a loss of performance is not only expected its literal physics. :)
