Thanks for the tutorial. I'm really impressed your mom was able to find unbleached linen at that price. At my local discount fabric store it was $12 a yard (!!) so I ended up getting undyed muslin which is far flimsier, but the color and price were right.
Another thing I did to save time was instead of measuring the gore up to the natural waist, I just made it 18" x 12" and that looked about right. Also, the gusset was by far the most difficult part, but I'm a very inexperienced seamseter.
As far as the hood, Modern History TV has a good video on it, apparently the most historically accurate ones are quite tight fitting around the head. But I think the looser, modern versions like the one you showed at the end would be much more comfortable, but perhaps less practical in cold weather or when the wind was in your face.

You are so welcome. Thank you for watching!! The more that I was working with the fabric, the more I wasn't sure if it was unbleached linen or that it might possibly be muslin. It was not labeled so I'm not positive.
I just went to look for the video you mentioned from Modern History TV. The one I found was titled: "Medieval hoods: A funny thing about medieval hoods and an amazing discovery!" In the video he looks to be wearing a hood very similar to the one that I show at the end of this video. I am rather new to medieval fashion, but from my understanding hoods behind tighter fitting to the head and open in the front over the neck from the mid 14th century onwards.

I think you’d look great in a soft green cotehardie!

Hi, I have a video about putting in the gusset under the arm. It is called "Fixing the Underarm Gusset" Sorry if I accidently called it a gore. I get them switched around in my brain sometimes. I am so happy to hear that you found this video helpful!!
