  • The conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been brought to the world’s attention over the last few months through awareness campaigns on social media. Many of them have also called for the boycott of electronics made with minerals mined from the DRC. But organisations on the ground struggle to achieve change with a corrupt Congolese government that falls short in prioritising its citizens’ interests over those of international mining companies.

Exploitation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo dates back at least to King Leopold's reign of terror. Exploitation is, therefore, not a recent occurrence. Unquestionably, there has been theft, but there are more problems. Corruption occurs at all levels, both internally and externally, as the guests made clear. Problem solvers must address the underlying causes of hostilities.
One original sin-concerning the domestic disputes-was the Congolese government's alienation of the Kinyarwandan speakers, a segment of the population it labeled as "foreign," thereby paving the way for the _M23 insurgency_ and the presence of _"anti-Kigali"_ Rwandan militias in the DRC. This issue and other conflicts born out of the marginalization of several communities need to be the focal point of any preliminary resolution. Both armed insurgent groups and foreign actors capitalize on the instability to suck the DRC dry of its natural wealth (valuable minerals). Ending the hostilities will allow the problem solvers and the Congolese to _"drain the swamp"_ plaguing the country.

Only a Rwandese will defend the massacres that’s happening in Congo by the Rwandese forces.
The world already knows the games y’all play, people aren’t stupid. You think your little comment on here will deceive the world view? You must dreaming still. Wake up and be humane again. Stop playing the west’s game and profit very little.
Congo will prevail, Rwanda will pay a higher cost tomorrow. The world is changing so is Congo.

      Help me out:
The entire point of my post was to "end the hostilities." How did you manage to confuse that with "defending massacres"?
In what way did I specifically 'deceive the world'? An extract or two from my comment will suffice as evidence.
I didn't know you were an "expert" at telling a person's nationality "because of their head." Did the Belgians school you on "racial" science? 😄

Two things or more can be factual at the same time. If opportunistic Congolese "strongmen" refrained from isolating certain ethnic groups as part of a "divide and conquer" antic, Congo probably wouldn't be dealing with uprisings and armed insurgencies. These short-sighted decisions opened the door for Rwandan interventions by anti-Kigali armed groups and the Rwandan government. The "West's" self-serving exploitation perpetuates and breeds instability-it's nothing out of the ordinary. However, self-serving African leaders make it easy for them.

The issue can be traced back to 1960s when the boarders were drawn, which ended some Rwandans to the other side of congo, the agreement was that they will be acknowledged as congolese. But since the they're labeled Rwandan tutsis. After the the peace agreements made in Luanda and Kenya, the agreement was to keep safe those kinyarwanda speaking congolese. DRC gov never met their end of agreement, which later resulted into the formation of M23 which was M7 before. H.E president Paul Kagame has nothing to do with the conflict other than protecting Rwanda's borders.
No one never wants to acknowledged the banyamulenge genocide committed by FDRL but that part is being covered. The banyamulenge are kinyarwanda speaking congolese who are being finger pointed as tutsis.

As far as the terrible situation in eastern DRC, - the violence, rape, politics, international exploiters, murders and displacement that paralyze any potential socio-economic development or sound mining practice, it is unimaginable! Brutal! Never-ending! Where is the Church? International missions? Honesty?

The most suffering people in Eastern DRC are the Kinyarwanda speaking Congolese, mostly Tutsi tribe because of FDLR. There is a BIG HAND of the DRC Government in the conflict that is happening in DRC, that’s why Mr. Tshisekedi doesn’t want to have a Peace talks with M23. The DRC Government fights alongside FDLR Terrorists and all 120+ armed groups Against one group (M23)
Most big Government officials in DRC have an armed group that helps them in extracting materials to enrich themselves.
That Government has shown to be the leading in incompetency in this Generation.

Wow...and u could not even bother to invite a voice that offers a different perspective to this crisis. How much did the Congolese government pay Aljazeera or u as a journalist to post this nonsensical program based on lies and propaganda?
There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in what is being debated here. And make no mistake, this kind of propaganda will never settle the crisis in Congo...it will only help to entrench the conflict and prolong the agony of the Congolese people.
Any honest and balanced discussion about this crisis must be premised on analyzing the root cause of the crisis. This means going back to the very first day when instability stared in Eastern DRC. What happened that led to violence eruption in that region. 1. Genocide in Rwanda where over a million people got slaughtered by Hutu extremists and whose government was backed by France. 2. Operation Turquoise: This refer to the Operation planned by France and whose main objective was to create a safe corridor for the extremists who had just finished to commit the Genocide to escape the advancing of Tutsis rebels led by Kagame and free to neighboring Congo (Zaïre then). This Operation was not welcomed by many among the former DRC ministers who warned the then President Mobutu and advised him against allowing the French to launch this Operation as it was allowing millions of criminals to leave Rwanda with all sorts of weapons n join the DRC without any mechanism to disarm them or separate civilians from militia and army men. This of course, as they advised Mobutu would bring too much problems to the Congo. Mobutu being very loyal to the French and undermining his much smaller neighbor Rwanda, did not listen to his ministers and advisors n went ahead to allow the French to launch the Operation Turquoise. This marks the beginning of the destabilization of Eastern DRC and the period of problems between Rwanda and DRC. No factual based, fair or balanced argument can offer a different account to this sad developing story.
we all know what happened after. The Hutu extremists started reorganizing themselves and re-arming inside DRC which was now their safe heaven and soon they started launching fresh attacks across the border into Rwanda to topple the newly established government which had ended the Genocide in 1994. In the face of these events what was the new n fragile government in Rwanda supposed to do? Had the DRC been a good or a bad neighbor to Rwanda. All these are genuine questions that we must ask ourselves if we really want to find sustainable solutions to the crisis in Eastern DRC. The lies, propaganda will not fix the issue at hand
