The savage war and toxic information battle in Sudan | The Listening Post

- A year into the civil war in Sudan, the humanitarian costs have been staggering - but the news coverage has been minimal.
A conflict on this scale should top the news agenda but it has been relegated to the back pages - in part - because of what is happening in Gaza and Ukraine. And it is increasingly difficult to deny that the lack of media interest in this war comes down to where it is being fought and how it is understood.

I knew UAE was supporting RSF, and Russia was involved. But Russian mercenaries are supporting RSF too. RSF is the worse force, which also committed genocide in Darfur.
i think it was the janjaweed who committed the genocide (jk i know the janjaweed are the militia group that created the RSF)
As a Pole I can honestly say that Al Jazeera's coverage is the most nuanced, fair and respectable I've seen in mainstream media.
But it isn't Civil war, at least Al Jazeera just called it that before they did it, wtf are you doing Aljazeera
I hardly see the fairness in this. They should have interviewed Sudanese people from each side to hear their perspectives and grievances about why they are really fighting. There are many stories suggesting that the conflict might be due to oil resources, while others claim it is because of ethnic and religious divisions. Despite this, I appreciate Al Jazeera for highlighting this civil war, which many people seem to be unaware of.
@@tommysolaceYT My question is why would Russia or the UAE wants Sudan's oil resources when both those countries have enormous oil reserves of their own? And what about the role of Iran in the conflict?
The channel never raises the issue of Muslim related violence. Just an apologist channel
Has Aljazeera ever used the term "Savage" to describe any of the wars in the other Arab countries through the years?
😂
It is brutal though. Instead of being obsessed with skin colour, how about you use your brain? Which other war has seen these huge numbers in the Arab world, other than Syria? None. Tens of millions in danger and 9 million refugees is insane.
Sudan Sudan 🇸🇩 I see you Sudan and praying with all my heart for your Free agency! Your peace shall come 🙏🏼
This is 🇸🇸 flag of South Sudan, thanks
Absolutely appreciate Al Jaxeera - and especially this show! Thank You
UAE are responsible for what's happening in sudan
They’re helping their brothers and sisters in Sudan 🇸🇩 who worship them dearly
@@Tall_Dark_Lovely the people of Sudan warship Allah and him only, but lately the UAE was used by US and Israel to execute their dirty tasks of destroying the Muslim countries
It's simpler than all of that....when Bashir was in power, the RSF received payment through the National Treasury, and the the General was payed through the Department of Defense...the problem started because the General became in charge of both institutions as head of state and asked the RSF to become part of the National Armed Forces as a way of solving the payment problems....but there's also the Libyan RSF...but altogether the issue was payment between the DoD or National Treasury....over the course of the years news and World leaders have put new spins on the issue
So, Al Jazeera wants democracy in Sudan and the UAE but not in Qatar? And what about the role of Iran in all of this? Not one word!
Why does Africa destroy everything they build? It’s a sad situation.
Colonialism
Africa blames everything on someone else. so the answer if accountability. they're not accountable to, or for themselves
Greedy
Corrupt, uncivilized…
What is the dominant religion in Sudan?
What does the civil war say about the religion ?
What does it say about Gaza war ?
Not too long ago Catholics and Protestants were killing each other in Northern Ireland...
It is not about Chritian and Muslim war. It is not a war between Arab and African. Is it a war between Muslim and Muslim?
no its a war between the same nationality which makes it even worse
@@AhmadsStuff like Yamen war?

Thank you Richard for this program.
Once again, they have no problems multiplying.
What's African union doing about the Sudan war ?? Nigeria standby force that wants to invade Niger 🇳🇪????
Sorry to inform you that Sudan 🇸🇩 isn’t part of African Union, They’re an Islamic nation.
Why do people want Western intervention in Sudan when they are demanding that the West leave Haiti?
Pathetic propaganda troll
Gold and Oil babe
Your right, west should just look at them. In Africa we tend to blame all wars on west, we don't own our problems and mistakes, every problem is about westerners as if during our tribal wars before colonisation were also started by west
The day Africans will learn to own and solve our failures, problems and weaknesses that is when Africa will be stable. In Africa all wars are because of west.
who are those people?
@mukisaroland8127
Actually the West is the good guys here .
US don't want weapons influx in the reigion thus pressing UAE to stop funding criminal RSF
very good journalism. keep up the good work.
Sudan civilians we hear you and we stand with you. Students of the future world leaders we support and stand with you. CIVILIANS around the globe your voices will be heard. Let us continue to respect, honor and value LIFE in all that lives. For this is the future we fight for now. Let us never forget our past.
Always someone hands in someone elses civil war. Playing chess.

The only News we rely on
Don't rely it's fake news.
you can’t just rely on one news source. keep in mind Al Jazeera is not independent media, it is funded by the Qatari government.
I have been there from Albashir era till the war but overthrowing Albashir without any plan was the mistake Sudan will regret for long time
And they way al Jazeera jumped into gaza from this news without even mentioning Boko haram or showing the victim dead body like in Palestine case is insane.
1. Boko haram has nothing to do with Sudan.
2. Palestine suffering from foreign invaders whereas Sudan suffers a civil war.
How much a foreign media can influence it to justice? The potential is more on the side of Palestine.
Atleast it is not funded by foreigners' money (despite its citizen's unwillingness) to kill, unlike it is in case of Israel.
@@Gunzo568can u compare the dead Sudanese to Ukraine and Gaza? 25 millions need aid, 9 millions living as refugees

It's not surprising to see this civil war which was anticipated to last a few days or weeks has gone into it's second year with no attempt or sign of a cease-fire.
When the East African Community attempted to hold peace talks, they surprisingly showed their favourite side of the two factions and that was not the leader in power but rather the RSF boss, which angered the incumbent Sudanese leader who protested accusing the East African nations of double standards. I agree with him. This war has lasted longer than expected simply because the rest of the world prefers the RSF over the Sudanese Armed Forces. It's so disgusting to see the pretense of the so-called UN and their egocentric dominant funders who pretend to be concerned about the humanitarian crisis around the world.
The rest of the world prefers the Rsf because the Rsf has promised that if it takes Sudan it will give gold to all these countries. To the UAE, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Rwanda, Wagner. All these.
It's not a civil war RSF is paid militia ( paid from UAE ) to force Sudan to handle ports in Red sea to UAE
Why do al Jazeera don't put there mic in victim face rather asking a arab, they do when it's Palestine in or Hamaz.
Seemingly it is a work in progress.
Why didn't any zionists' media did it then, in case y'all know better then do better?
Aljazeera invented double standards, that's why
Sudan is an African-Arab Nation thats why
@@AhmadsStuff so?

Well I guess you are asking a question everybody in this world knows and does racism Point Blank
The West and the world maintained an interest in Sudan during Al Bashir's regime. They have lost interest in Sudan since he is no longer present (see also Lybia).
thats a good thing. now Africans can determine their own future
The West were really looking out for Christian South Sudanese who were being abused by Al Bashir and his Islamic followers. South Sudan 🇸🇸 is independent nation, and the West really can’t relate to Sudan. Sorry for informing you about this information.
It’s different when a country attacks another country and when people kill each other in their own country. They should have known better and come together.
It's not a civil war RSF is paid militia from UAE

If they went home every night and came back every morning it would be a non issue setting up camp cant do that and they took action
Fighting for world materialism and killing and getting killed for it is utterly stupidness. If the same efforts was done to re-establish the Khilah instead of the Western Kufr system Democracy then the story and conclusions would have been a complete different one.
Deranged forms of Islamism are a scourge on humanity, especially their own neighbors, they have no respectability or ethical/spiritual credibility.
What does she mean by "Gaza happened six months since the conflict". What point was she trying to make. I'm genuinely baffled.
I don’t know but I appreciate AJ making the important distinction about the scale of crisis compared to others in the introduction. Also, fascinating (and ironic) how they emphasis binary coverage throughout.
She’s saying that people believe that what is happening in Palestine has eclipsed the war in Sudan because they’re occurring at the same time, but the war in Sudan started 6 months before Oct 7th, so what was stopping everyone (media etc) from covering Sudan in those 6 preceding Oct 7th.
Well, how Sudanese Arabic influenced, they never have emphasized anyone else’s pain, now they everyone to feel for them.
9 million.... because they aren't pallis
So how many comments did you hide in this post al Jazeera? 😂

OMG. While mentioning Ukraine and Gaza as an indication of how the media and the world have not paid proper attention and support to Sudan's atrocity, the show missed one of the bloodiest conflicts in Ethiopia, a neighbor of Sudan. Is there any mindfulness left? The hypocrisy is damning. Peace be upon Sudan!
No. The world tires of the uncivilized manner in which African countries conduct themselves. It’s a story old as time. We’ve had quite enough. Let them figure it all out ALONE
It’s a shame Sudan should be one regardless of their differences those generals are just dirty criminals bringing suffering upon the innocent Sudanese.Pray for Sudan.
