Just got the BetaFPV 95X ..great little whoop (with some real power). But broke 1 of the prop guards already. Think super-glue will hold instead of replacing and entire frame? Not sure what you guys are using if this happens. Thinking either that or just a good old dab from a glue gun? Also, not seeing anything in my DJI FPV GOGGLES when ANGLE MODE's enabled. Everything else working fine.
That's because the 95 in the 95x name refers to the diagonal frame width (how Whoops are sized) not the prop size. It's also not actually 95mm, it's about 100mm. The props are 2.5" - they don't claim otherwise. If you want a 3" - check out the FlexRC Colugo - imho it's the best 3" frame around overall - but build your own. The iFlight DC3 is OK as well.
@@sketchpv3080 I agree. I actually have 2 of these frames, they just got here a few days ago. I'm gonna transplant my Beta85X build into it, but use a aio board (had the stack one in it) and change it from a Turtle to Baby Turtle and see how it flies. The 2nd one will be a light weight build, Shutterfly-ish 85.
I can't wait until they get this into tiny hawk freestyle sizes. That way I can check my roof with the hd feed without the neighbors getting freaked out lol.
There are two other DJI RTF/BNF options out there. They are the TransTEC Beetle and GEPRC Rocket PLus/Lite. Both are extremely interesting and I believe will perform better. Can't wait for your review.
@@JoshuaBardwell If you try it on 4S with no prop guards and the Gemfan props you'll like it more as it becomes more capable of freestyle, BUT, you WILL need to tune it! The tune on it is definitely only meant for 3S. Since the F411 has limited timers, putting RPM Filter on it means you have to disable the LED_STRIP, kind of a bummer. The stack in it is lame. I'd rather have the iFlight Mini F7 stack. But I use it as a cinewhoop, with the HQProps, and on 3S, and for that, it's great. I call it "Two quads in one".
I've been holding out for the Transtec Beetle as it should be better in every way. But it's been over two months, the weather is turning good and they're still on back-order. The Betafpv 85x hd has served me well, even if it's a bit slow and sluggish I still like it a lot. Next weekend I'm either ordering a Beetle, or a 95x, whichever is available. Thanks for the info, will use one of your links to buy.
Flies indoors just fine on 3S, but is noisy. But I can't imagine any "whoop"-like quad carrying the weight of the Vista is going to be either significantly smaller or quieter. The camera mounted in the canopy is indeed very fiddly and the camera shifts position *every* time it lands on its head. It tilts up, or down, or slides back in that slot jamming the camera into fixed position. I needed less tilt for indoor flying, so I carved out the bottom of the hole in the canopy. If you take the canopy off, those aluminum spacers instantly try to disappear.. Putting it back together is a major hassle as two screws go through the spacers in one direction, and the 3rd in the opposite direction, so there's no orientation where either a space or a screw aren't trying to fall out. Other than that, it's pretty fun to fly. Feels locked in even with some wind. Best flown in 4:3 aspect to maximize the vertical FoV (for both slow and fast flying). Shotcut is by far the easiest way to convert 4:3 to Superview-like output. (download, install, import video, trim, add two filters Elastic Scale with "Nonlinear Scale" set to 70% and Size and Position set to Distort - and then Export video, done)
I agree with basically everything you said here. The quad flies pretty good, but everything about it in terms of livability is poor. The camera angle doesn't go down. The spacers are a hassle to put back together. Etc.
Am I crazy to be attempting to use BetaFlight with a 95x HD. I can't locate the USB port on the drone! This presents a bit of a problem. lol Any idea where to find it? (currently looks like I've been mowing the lawn, so it may be buried.)
There is also the GepRC Rocket Lite that comes with the vista. Much better built / much more durable, but it's a 2", and it's heavier, so expect to use it more like a Cinewhoop than a Racewhoop like this 95x. FWIW, I wasn't satisfied with either, so I'm building my own, using the 85x HD frame and the 5000 kV 1106 motors they offer... gonna try and get something smaller, and lighter and hopefully more nimble - so I can use it indoors :-o
Hi Joshua! My x95 just arrived, very nice and I have exactly your same impression about it, but one question, you think that would be possible add a gps on that board?
Has anyone built a standard(ductless) kwad out of the parts in this one? If so what frame? I got one of these on sale a month or so back(wish I bought 2 to have spare parts as it was basically $50 for the quad & I need an extra vista for a 3” build). Also wondering if you could just snip off the ducts and retune it.
The DJI camera's native sensor is 4:3. I fly in 4:3 mode for increased vertical field of view. If you fly DJI in 16:9 widescreen, it cuts off the top and bottom of the image. What you are seeing is exactly what I see in the goggles (minus the side-bars of course--in the goggles those are black).
@@JoshuaBardwell so you put those fuzzy bars on the side just to eat up my bandwidth? black motionless bars are much cheaper bandwidth wise. Please be nice to those of us who have crappy internet connections. (yeah I know this seems to be picking nits but my DSL is about 400KBS. so everything counts for me.)
Are you able to remove the prop guards? If so, how much weight does it save? I'm trying to find something that works with DJI that also sits under the 100g mark because I'm in Australia and that's our limit.
Hey where do I get some of those lens savers please as I broke a lens at racing last night and need to invest in one of those as they are dam cheaper than a new camera which I now have to shell out for. Thanks.
I enjoyed the video. Despite the relative quality of the goggle DVR video, the video from my Larva HD is better and the quad flys great. To me, the whole point of a quad capable of good cine footage, is to have a built in DVR.
I'm the biggest BetaFPV fanboy, but this was definitely lazy last minute rushed product. I don't have one yet, but I got the frame and canopy here and I can't believe how badly they used all that space. I'm also very concerned about how thin the plastic is where prop guard mounts meet carbon... I think I'll use the Vista on 85X frame until they improve this.
Here is a much better canopy for the Caddx Vista that will fit this quad and many others! www.phx-3d.com/product-page/racer-x-fpv-twig-xl-mutant-4-hd-canopy

Thanks Joshua. Just for the record it's a 100mm quad and it uses 2.5 inch props not 3 inch.
I am happy to be corrected by Mr. Shutterbug :-)
You're right -- I was lazy with the review and didn't get the specs right :-)
This 3" quad actually has 2.5" props! 😉

Why you changed antenna ? this one is better ? please link
My caddx didn't come with na antenna. It was not a retail unit.
Keep that sweet digital goodness flowing! Furadi said the Vista has the same mult-path performance as the full size Air Unit. What do you think?
It doesn't seem like it's possible to build a radio with one antenna/receiver, that performs the same as one that has two.

How in the world do you wire a vista and crossfire to the F405 AIO v2 board? There is only TX1, TX2 and RX2. Can’t find RX1
RX1 may not be broken out in which case you probably can't do Crossfire and Vista at the same time. This is a common limitation on some micro FC.
Why do you still use the default goggle antenna
Is there any possibility to get a well working position hold on such a tiny whoop?
Thank you Josh!

Can't remove prop guards. It's apart of the frame. Look into 2.5" frames for whoop mounting. Think 26.5mm by 26.5.mm
