Hi 314299: Nice video. I, likewise have done some K31 shooting over the Chrony. First, your second group would be just standard fair and you wouldn't have that flyer if you were to put some diopters on that thing. Original W&F or Swiss Products will release the true potential of these things. K31's are made like a Swiss watch and is really the last design of a manually operated, wooden stocked battle rifle. The design is actually a semi-auto design without a gas operating system. The human is the gas system. Everything after were self loaders. K31's are superb. Anyway, I likewise use a Shooting Chrony, like yours. Question: how accurate do you think our type of chrony is? I've noticed when guys have expensive chrony or a doppler chrony the variation of velocity is much less. Note, this is only my observation about other people shooting with whatever they were shooting. But I can't believe our handloads are so terrible that we have as much as 70 or 80 fps variation at times. I have the same thing. I think our chrony can only be used to find an average of a string of shots in regard to evaluating our handloads. What say you? And yep, that is a pretty slow powder for a 7.5x55. Interestingly as I do this comment I'm getting ready today to try some Reloder 22 in a 7.5x55. However, it will be coming out of my Steyr CISM rifle. I've always preferred a bit faster powder, 4350, 4320, Re-17, that sort of thing. But it's what I have. I'll bet 55 gr. of 7828 just about fills that case with little or no room left. I'm going to be trying 49.0 and 50.0 gr. RE-22 with 195gr. Hornady ELD Match. Seated .006" off the lands. And that case is filled completely. I'm expecting MV@15ft. to be in the high 2300's or low 2400's. I'll post the video later on my YT channel if you're interested. Funny thing is it takes longer to edit and process a day at the range than it does to make the video. Anyway, nice job. Have a great day.
Reloading will eventually be the best way to have accurate ammo for the Swiss rifles, however this might not be the best moment to get into it with all the shortages of equipment and components.
How does 7.5 Swiss compare in terms of velocity, power and recoil vis a vis other rifle rounds like 308, 7,62 Russian, 7,5 French and 303 Brit? Also how does PPU compare with the GP11 minding velocity and accuracy?
7.5 Swiss is similar to .308 and 7.62x54R in terms of power, and is more powerful than the 7.5 french and 303. Recoil is fairly stout due to the 174 grain bullet, it's not much fun to shoot prone without a shooting jacket or slip on recoil pad. As far as comparing GP11 and the PPU ammo I've not yet fired any factory loaded PPU in this caliber. I really should get a box to try out.
First, I am not a great shot, but this K31 of mine can shoot something like the grounds you get, I usually shoot at 100 yard range when I do get to the range with this rifle.. I'd like to be able to have a scope mounted to mine,.but can't find a scope mounting base for this Swiss K-31 here in Canada.
@@eaglemasterdan Thanks for the lead here,..looks like they do,..I'm send them a couple of questions,..hopefully I'll be 'in business' soon, if all works out!
@@314299 This is good, thank you. I wonder if they will, as he is semi-retired these days; I'll give him a call later and ask. Again, thanks for the lead!
Here in Canada it seems that they are listed for between $900 to $1200. I'm not sure what the USA gun show prices would be, perhaps some Americans can let us know what the prices are.
The swiss surplus rifles are great, I love mine. I just wish I could buy gp11 ammo still.
Thanks for letting me shoot some of your gp11 in that nice 1911.
It's the usual story with surplus, eventually it dries up. I have found a bit of GP11 here and there at gun shows.
@@westcovinadodge no prob man!
it's out there it's just expensive as hell
Reloader 17 powder is what originally was used and it produces great accuracy with 175 grain Berger Bullets
Berger certainly make quality bullets capable of excellent accuracy.
I miss shooting military rifles. Had to give it up.You always have great videos
Thanks David.
My grail load for my k31 has been 40.1 gn ar2208 berger vld 174gn norma brass br2 primers. It will shoot half moa consistently with diopters
That's impressive accuracy.
for a k31 with diopters, it probably isnt that unordinary!
4064 is good to know I have that on my shelf. Also get great results with IMR 4831
IMR 4064 is a excellent and versatile rifle powder.
Good video my Canadian friend any reloading and shooting videos are good to me 👍
Glad you liked it.
I have been using IMR 4320 powder shoots close to GP11 : )
Yeah, that's probably a good substitute for the burn rate of the powder in GP11.
Great vid 👍. Love my K31 👍❤️
They are a fine rifle indeed.

Good channel for Swiss 7.5x55 is a channel named "Lencac" back 2 years in his history...........
Thanks for the tip I will check that out.
Picked up an M1911 recently. Still waiting for an opportunity to get some rounds through it. Hope it shoots as well as the K31. I'm betting it will.
Most people have excellent results with all the 7.5 Swiss rifles, hopefully yours will be no different.
I'm finding GP11 harder and harder to come by. Starting to wonder if I should begin investing in reloading. Nice reloads, by the way.

That's a really slow powder for that rifle. What data lead you to that powder?
I don't recall where I got the data from, I think it is from one of my old reloading books.
They just closed our ranges til june.... if your online tonight have a chat with gungeek
Beautiful rifle , always liked 7.5X55
That's a long dry spell.
what bullet did you used? 308?
The bullet is a .308" diameter Sierra Matchking 168 grain hollow point boat tail.
Just bought a Swiss k 11 carbine and die set ☑️
Nice. Do you know what year yours was made?
I just bought it from trade x in Ontario I'll get it in a week or so
Just got it. From the serial # the end of 1915 👍🏼

I need to start loading for my K31, GP11 is has become unobtainable around here
Yeah, it seems to have dried up.
I wish 7.55 x 55mm swiss ammo is still available in canada
Yeah, seems like it's all gone from the retailers.
@@314299 the only option I found is from tradeexcanada and calgary shooting center for like 3 cad per rounds

I have seen them but no more than that. So, what is the average price of such depending on the condition?
500 to 800 they vary like crazy

Do you neck size or full length size for your swiss rifle?
I neck size my brass for the K-31.
have u tried re15 or re22
Yes I've tried Reloader 15. I only had a pound of it so I did not shoot many shots with it.
How is the ppu brass holding up?
It's holding up quite well, I dont think I have lost any to splits yet.
Really enjoy the milsurp content combined with reloading!
