    I heard that story before. The birds were even more crucial than the cats in that attack. The Mongolians used small pouches filled with some sort of mineral, which functions as a fire accelerant. They tied them to the birds and then set them on fire. When they reached the buildings of the city and the minerals caught fire, roofs were going up in flames in mere seconds. With the cats setting up houses from the bottom, the city was going up in flames very quickly. Quite terrifying and disturbing, but highly effective

The Golden Age of Islam, when the Middle East was an economic, scientific, and mathematical powerhouse was broken and replaced with the extremism we see today in many countries.     Scared animals run back home. The man was an evil genius to ransack a fortified city with just that little bit of insight. Cats fit through very small gaps in the fortifications that humans cannot and they surely used them since cats like to roam so they must have streamed in all at once.

      I think that must have been before he gotten his hands on siege weapons. Ghengis is known for taking enemy weapons and use them for his own strategy. If an enemy he conquered had stuff he did not, they would incorporate it into the next battles. Evolve every fight to be better so to say
