    Agree 100% with your value philosophy. I'm totally the same and buy the best quality at the value price. But I have to confess I'm also a total retail bottom feeder. I only buy on end of season sales, here in Canada, January - February and July - August. 50% off is the starting point and 70-90% off like gold (Black Friday and Boxing Week can also be good). True you don't always get every size and style, but I generally score greater than 50% on my "to buy" list. If I miss, c'est la vie. I'm also generally buying off season for next season but fine some delayed gratification doesn't hurt. Over the years scored some amazing garments at great prices, some with 10 year + longevity. It's like sport with the thrill of the hunt :-). Final act of discipline If I'm going to buy anything new I must donate something old to the goodwill bin. Taking from the universe, it's time to giveback. Also tremendous self-discipline, forces me to think the purchase through. If I score these shoes what am I donating? It's forced many a rethink. Thanks for the great channel keep it up.

      I’ve got a similar system but I’ll admit I sell on a lot of things. I’ve got the no new money rule when it comes to buying new stuff. So I have to sell a lot 3 pieces to buy one new one. Works out somehow. I do spend a lot of time on eBay also this😂

    Detailed review from Roseanvil actually showed that Alden Indys are massively overpriced. Great channel. Love your stuff.

      Yeah. Saw that too. I’ve heard good thing about Grant Stone for a similar style. Just depends if you are willing to pay for the og. For some it’s worth it and they boots wills till last a good long time.

    I like the cost per wear strategy for all things but it works exceptionally well on clothing. Great thing is you can actually go to solid brands like Levi's, Carhartt, Lee, Wrangler, Brave Star to get denim that'll last a really long time. (I'm sure there a similar brands in other parts of the world that are similar) The blanket lined Carhartt denim jacket I currently have on was made in the USA in 1999. I can't remember the cost but I'm sure it's in the pennies per wear at this point and looks better than when I bought it. I think a huge thing is staying away from department store brands and discount stores. The above mentioned brands also hold some level of value of you buy their better versions. Levi's and Carhartt to do better than Lee or Wrangler, but that's a consideration also.

    using that formula, one could calculate the cost of a personal closet over time, brilliant

    Another alternative to the 3Sixteen rough out jacket is the Satchel and Page Montgomery jacket. Its made out of waxed flesh in a beautiful brown.

    Excellent point. I’ve always felt that cost per wear is a great metric if one stops buying. Unfortunately, a lot of people (myself included) continue to buy. Of course, that raises the CPW. I’ve mostly stopped this year because my closet got full.

    Although Alden Indy boots are really nice, I just don't believe they are worth the $600+ price point. I've owned a pair and one of the main issues I've had was the threading pulling apart especially where the laces meet vamp. I don't wear them hard at all, just city walking and not even that much. Add to that the cut-in-half video by Weston on his Rose Anvil channel which revealed the subpar parts, it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I much prefer Red Wing and the price point is half as that of Alden with just as much longevity (if not more) and with better materials ie more leather. But even around the same price point it's better to go with a compqny like Viberg or even Nicks.
    Sorry for the rant, I love your channel and agree with everything else on the list (although I think Uniqlo has great white heavy weight T-shirts that usually go on sale for around $5-$6 each and they will last a good amount of time and look amazing with any body type!)

    I’d recommend looking at Grant Stone rather than the Indy’s. The the quality is much better for half the price. The Rose Anvil has done some great videos cutting both in half.

    This works pretty well except for sunglasses. I destroy sunglasses and have given up on nice ones. If you're someone that does stuff like hiking, kayaking, and is otherwise outside quite a bit (where it makes the most sense to wear sunglasses), you either need to accept a high cost per wear or get cheaper sunglasses.

    If you can’t/don’t wear the item that much, then surely the item will last a lot longer. And therefore over a long period of time you will get a lower cost per wear?

    • @CeeAreDee
      @CeeAreDee  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don’t wear it then the cost per wear stays static.
