About the DKW F89.
The DKW F89 began rolling off the production line from a new factory in Düsseldorf by Auto Union in West Germany in the summer of 1950.
The DKW Meister (English: "Master Class") also known as the DKW F89 was a front-wheel drive compact produced by Auto Union between 1950 and 1954.
It was the first passenger car to be produced by the new Auto Union company in West Germany after the re-establishment of operations in the West 1949.
The F89 has a 684 cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine with a stated output at launch of 23 hp. A maximum speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).
The engine is water cooled, but there was no water pump.
Cooling took place through a convection-based thermosiphon system.
The front wheels were connected to the engine by means of a three-speed manual transmission controlled via a dashboard-mounted Krückstockschaltung lever similar to that known to later generations from its use in the Citroën 2CV and Renault 4
