Thank you for this video -it may have solved my storage problems. I'm also an "out of sight, out of mind person" so I love the openness of everything. Love the storage by the doll!
I loved this video. All the suggestions for storage were great. I particularly enjoyed the visual of how you folded the fabrics for the comic board. Now...I just have to get the inertia to do this!
I use the bolt method and love the visual convenience of it. I love your tips on using the masking tape for measuring and the adorable mini storage display.
Thanks for the good ideas -- gives me something to think about! My fabric is in tubs and not visible, so I want to bring at least some of it out where I can see it.
I just spent two days folding my fabric over comic boards and folding smaller pieces into IKEA bins. I am using the largest, 72"x72" IKEA KALLAX wall unit. Thank you for the very cool idea. I am also visually oriented with that "out of sight, out of mind" challenge. This system has all of my fabric out in the open, sorted by colors (I used ROYGBIV, plus white and black).
I love all your ideas. When I worked and had to keep the printer full of paper and forms, there were always at least 2 pieces of cardboard in the box and being the pack rat that I am, I saved them. And that is what I use to wrap my fabric around to store it.
Cinnamon, I tried pins on my fabric boards 4 yrs ago, but they get caught when trying to removing boards that are stored tight. Rubberbands dry and rot. Now I use 1/4" bulk elastic left from masks. 14" cut and knot tied in the end works great for 7''x11'' boards, plus doesn't damage fabric. I have over 450 boards in labeled Banker Boxes with section cut out of end of box for viewing fabrics...on large bookshelves. Works great ! I can see all inventory at one glance. Your new larger room looks wonderful. CONGRATS.
Love the mini storage units for the scaled down fabric storage. I love that creativity. It does help to keep the fabric stash visible to be able to be inspired by it. I too forget what I have if I cannot see it when I am planning a project.
I store my fabric by type of fabric & by color, with plaids, polka dots & stripes in groups of their own. I have shelves that are 18" deep. I have a 24" dowel, with marks in from each end so it is 18". I fold my fabric to 18" & roll it up on the dowel, wrap paper around the roll (like they do with the fabric remnants at JoAnn's. I then put the rolls on my shelves, pulling out the dowel after it is in place.
I use and love the comic book board idea. I have mine standing upright in the wooden crates that I purchased at Michael's. Of course, I don't have room for all my fabric....
Hi there. I just came across your channel today and have been watching your organizing series. Your sewing room was pretty before but I love the changes you've made to make it even more functional for yourself and your work process. 💖 I just thought I'd give you a suggestion about the harder to store fabrics that you've draped over file folders. You, of course, can take or leave my suggestion. 😂 For the file boxes that aren't clear, you might want to try laying them on their side (the wider side) and stacking one on top of the other so that you can see everything a bit better as well as to prevent a line / crease from forming on the fabric where it's hanging on the file folder. Hope this tip is useful to you or one of your viewers. Looking forward to watching more of your videos! 😊
I like the way you have your fabric stored on the cards. It would be so easy to find what you are looking for. I think this might be my solution to fabric storage.
Great! I am also very visual...and have ignored ! a lot of fabric in bins/tubs/stashes because I could not see it...out of sight/out of mind LOL so now I am in the process of cutting down foam board $store to wrap the fabric around, I probably owe someone an apology for not believing them, and not even trying their suggestions. I tend to be a bit of a procrastinator and Cinnamon, your room is perfect...love the doll sized shelf/fabric ... And you are certainly correct, when you say, doll clothing storage is a totally different topic. and I would like to see how others store their doll clothing, made from all those wonderful PFaire patterns we purchase . ThankS.
The boards are a great idea for smaller pieces of fabric! I have SO much fabric that a lot of it is stored in 12x12x12 milk crates, stacked on their sides (last count was 38 crates). Some of my fabric is in boxes and some in bins and full bolts stack on top.
I love your bolts of fabric. That is a fabulous idea, and one I would love to incorporate into my sewing room. Also, the doll sized fabric selections and display are adorable!! You're so creative! :)
I am working towards fabric organization. I use clear bins, instead of shelves, because I don’t have many shelves. I like the mini cabinet for smaller pieces; at the moment, my little stuff is a jumble in a box.
I've seen this video before in the Sewing With Cinnamon. I ended up using this for my craft/sewing room. I bought plastic drawer units on sale. They're clear, so I can see what colours are inside and can open it to see exactly what's in. I bought poster board from the dollar store and cut rectangles in the size I needed (more work than comic cardboard but easier to get).
I also use comic book boards. I also use plastic U shaped alligator clips that I purchased from Amazon for about $13.25 for 1000 pieces to clip the fabric on to the board.
I'm also a quilter and had seen the comic board idea before. With all the fabric I have, it seemed too time consuming and expensive...also, my biggest problem is putting things back! I think it's the year to organize and get rid of many things. I need ideas on how to store laces by the yard and ribbon not on rolls...ric rac and colored trims of all sorts! Going off to measure cubbies and order comic boards!
Mary, I have mine stored in "over the door" shoe "pocket" holder. One on each side of same door in fabric room.A dozen pockets organizes alot of items.
I organize my fabrics similarly, except I recycle cardboard and cut to size then when I have fabric to put away, I pull out a precut board and wrap and store the fabric on it. Large or bulky materials go on pants hangers and hang in the closet.
Would love to have that kind of space. I have clear plastic drawers and organize by type of fabric rather than color. I can go to flannel drawer or stretch fabric drawer, etc. depending on project.
Loved all the ideas, but … alas, all my fabric must be stored in boxes in half of a standard bedroom closet. I use clear plastic stackable boxes by theme. Historic, holiday, interfacing, etc. Plus, the old-fashioned stackable pattern boxes by color.
I prefer to use storage units with doors to help keep the dust off. Instead of using hanging file folders I use plastic hangers and hang on a rod inside the storage unit.
I'm always wondering about storing fabrics out on the open... don't they fade from the light coming into the room? I store mine in bins that are not open to the light..... Same with thread... does it fade in the light?
The mini fabric storage is clever and adorable
Great idea!!
I have all my fabric in big totes in my shed. I dream of the day I can have my own sewing room and can have awesome storage like you.
I love how you have organized everything. I'll try some of your ideas!
Thank you for this video -it may have solved my storage problems. I'm also an "out of sight, out of mind person" so I love the openness of everything.
Love the storage by the doll!
I have a couple clear plastic filing bins, so I'll recycle the contents and give the hanging file folder idea a try!
I really like how all your fabric is organized. It is so easy to see what you have and where it is. I would imagine it is a great time saver as well.
I love how visual this storage system is. The mini shelves are adorable.
This is wonderful ideas and being visual like you this would work wonderful for me.
Thanks for sharing your folding technique. So clever.
Thanks for sharing
Great tip
Thank you for the video!
I really need to tackle this job next in my sewing room! Thanks for the ideas!
Great ideas, thank you.
Great ideas!
This is beautiful
I loved this video. All the suggestions for storage were great. I particularly enjoyed the visual of how you folded the fabrics for the comic board. Now...I just have to get the inertia to do this!
I love the file folder idea!
Those are some AWESOME ideas for fabric storage I particularly love the one about using the hanging folders for the speciality fabrics!
These ideas will help me organize my fabrics--thanks!
I'm getting a craft room. An this is very inspiring. Especially with the filing hack. Thank you
Good ideas if you have the space to organize that way
Great Video ! I'm also a visual person and order the comic book boards and get organized, Thank you ! Looking forward to more tips on organizing.
I had never heard of comic boards, but this is a great system!
Love these ideas. I’m in the process of trying to set up a sewing area so these ideas are great.
Thanks for the great ideas!
Love Comic Boards for storing fabric. Helps keep organized by design and color.
Love her ideas
I use the bolt method and love the visual convenience of it. I love your tips on using the masking tape for measuring and the adorable mini storage display.

Loved your ideas, especially the one where you organize your fabric by color. Love this.❤😘
Beautiful sewing room! Thanks for the ideas.
I've been using plastic bins for my fabric. Thanks for the video and all that you do!
I love all your ideas. When I worked and had to keep the printer full of paper and forms, there were always at least 2 pieces of cardboard in the box and being the pack rat that I am, I saved them. And that is what I use to wrap my fabric around to store it.
Like your idea of the little shelves with the doll next to the shelves. So Cute!
Such a good solution. I have done this and I love it.

Great tip! I've had the same issue, thanks for the suggestion!
Please share your pictures. Thank you.
Great storage idea. I need to clear off a couple of shelves and try this.
Love the mini storage units for the scaled down fabric storage. I love that creativity. It does help to keep the fabric stash visible to be able to be inspired by it. I too forget what I have if I cannot see it when I am planning a project.
Thank you for the tour and great ideas
I love the cardboard idea! I am going to give that a try!
love it
You definitely have some great ideas to try out. Now that Holiday sewing is done it's time to clean and reorganize.
Thank you for your ideas.
I am inspired to organize!
I've used these. Love them!

Never thought of folding the other way. Genius, thank you!
I love the mini shelf!! So cute and functional! This is great inspiration!!
I needed to see this video. I need to re-do my fabric storage system.
Love all your ideas!
Very inspiring. I wish I had shelf space to do that!
Very helpful
I love this idea and have been using it for all my larger pieces of fabric. Easy to see and uses less and less space.
I use and love the comic book board idea. I have mine standing upright in the wooden crates that I purchased at Michael's. Of course, I don't have room for all my fabric....
Thanks for this. I'm getting lots of ideas, to help in my organizing.
This is brilliant!

Looks absolutely amazing 😻
Thank you for all the helpful ideas for fabric storage.
I have such large quantities of material, not sure this will work, but for some of it, it'll be worth trying.
Wish I had a craft room with room to store fabric like that.
Great ideas, just wish I had the room to put shelf units like that!
I have an old chest that I keep fabric in. This was a fun video to watch.
These were great ideas--it's a truly beautiful space. :)
Love love this. I already do the comic boards but how you did the little ones is genius. I need to do this. Great video!
Great ideas! I have my fabric folded in plastic bins and it always gets deep fold lines
Press the folds using 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar to one cup of water, spray it along the fold using one of those "mist" spraying bottkes.
I would LOVE a system more usable than the one I have.
I really need to do this!
interesting to see your storage ideas. love the tiny wee round containers. and wonder where you got your tiny wee buttons.
Great tips loved them thank you ❤
I would love to put my fabric on comic book boards to file them in the bins I use.
I've seen this video before in the Sewing With Cinnamon.

I need to do this as soon as possible!
I have some of my fabric folded on pieces of cardboard to make small bolts but not mini dolled sized ones! I’m definitely going to try that!
I love this! Thank you!
I love your doll’s fabric shelf so much!!!
Thank you!! 😊
I also use comic book boards. I also use plastic U shaped alligator clips that I purchased from Amazon for about $13.25 for 1000 pieces to clip the fabric on to the board.
Oh what good ideas .. thank you
Great storage tips :-)
Very nice. I would like to use the boards like this. I organize by fabric type and then by color.
I'm also a quilter and had seen the comic board idea before. With all the fabric I have, it seemed too time consuming and expensive...also, my biggest problem is putting things back! @@bamagirlie72 I think that sounds easier for now than winding ribbon and trims on smaller boards. thanks!

I think organizing by fabric type is a good idea.
It looks beautiful Where did you find the mini shelf?
Thanks! The little shelf in the center? I think I got that at Home Goods :)
@@SewingWithCinnamon Thanks so much. I will keep my eye out. I have lots of larger scraps and love your idea.
Loved all the ideas, but … alas, all my fabric must be stored in boxes in half of a standard bedroom closet. I use clear plastic stackable boxes by theme. Historic, holiday, interfacing, etc. Plus, the old-fashioned stackable pattern boxes by color.
I love the look of this method of storage, but I worry about dust and odors as my office/sewing room is close to my kitchen.
Nice!
Great ideas
Wow, I really like your way of thinking
👏👏👏
Just subscribed! ❤️😀
Yay! Thank you!
Good question! I avoid direct sunlight, like that coming in through a window. But just the indirect light doesn't seem to fade the fabric or thread.
I love the bolt method. Right now I have fabric in storage totes but can't see what I have. Do you have trouble with them getting dusty though?
I don't have open shelves but the same can be done with clear storage containers.
