Stacey, A Huge Thank You for this idea; I was storing all fabric in plastic totes which were not clear and made it hard to see choices. I am new to your channel and already a Huge Fan. ❤
Thank you for sharing your process. ❤
Funny I am doing what you are doing with my fabric. I am getting on in years(89) so I thought I would make a start on organising my fabric by cutting it into different sizes. Regards from New Zealand.
Hi Mary in NZ 🤗 I think cutting into different sizes is a great way to get organise ❤️
I've always stored my fabrics in storage boxes, but done so by color, prints, stripes, florals, etc. Not any more! Your way of storing by yard, half yard, scraps is great. I especially love the way you fold them and store them. I've always laid them flat on top of one another and it's hard to see some in the middle, thus having to take them all out. Thank you for this video. Going to redo my fabrics using this method. 😀
Yay - I’m glad you found it helpful! I think folding them so they are a little chunky also helps so you can see them. Thanks for watching 🙏
Love those containers - especially the one with the two drawers. Thank you for the suggestions on making the precuts out of the scraps. I donate the smaller stuff to my local senior center or nursing home for crafts.
Oh that is a wonderful idea for scraps Kim! Thanks for sharing it ❤
i've spent my time off over the break organising my craft supplies. they were out of control. thanks for these tips!! when you were like please excuse the mess I was like uhhhhh you should see my craft room 😅
I hope some of these tips were helpful! We always seem to end up in a way bigger mess when organising, but it usually gets better ☺️
This was so helpful, and motivating! I've got a project ahead of me. 🤩 Thanks for the great tips! You're the Marie Kondo of sewing and quilting! 🥰
Thanks so much Louise! I would like to think I channeled a little of her wisdom in this video. I just started talking and it came out. Not planned at all 🤣
Thanks for the tips on folding! I have been trying to figure out the best way to fold and store my fabric…gonna give this a try.
Yay! I’m glad you found it helpful Laura! ❤️
Another use for those wee scraps is to put them all in a bag and use them as stuffing for pillows, dog beds, small stuffed animals, etc.
Yes, that’s a great idea! Thanks so much 🤗
Ohhh I also watch Rosary Apparel- I thought of that as soon as you showed this crate.❤
Yes - she is my favorite TH-camr. I love her style so much. But I did not get the same crates as her, as much as I tried 😂
Stacey, this is a wonderful video! Your folding and storage suggestions are very helpful. I love the idea of organizing your scraps into pre-cut sizes so that they are ready to go in a project. Thank you so much! ❤😊
I appreciate your kind feedback on today’s video. Thanks so much 🙏
I love that you fold Marie Kondo style, I've been doing our clothes that way. I have stashed all over the house and you've given me ideas to corral them into more organized chaos, because we do love our bits of fabric, don't we? Happy new year
Wonderful! Now you can do it with your fabric, honestly so much easier, especially if you fold the fabric so it's chunky! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment ☺️
I really needed this. My fabric stash is all over the place.
Me too
Yay - I’m glad you found it helpful Rhonda! ❤️
Love it..thanks my sewing room is on my winter to do list this really helps motivate me...blessings
Yay - let me know if you use any of these tips! Thanks for watching 🙏
Love your use of clear boxes. I am the type that if I don’t see it, I forget I have it. 😂 I really loved how you fold it up to fit in the boxes. I am going to adopt it for my fabric storage. Thank you!
Yay - I am glad it was helpful! Yes I love that they are clear too. Thanks for leaving a comment ☺️
Love all your Ruby Star fabrics and now I want these containers!
Thanks so much Shannon ❤️ I love the new containers!
Oh, bless your heart! I am in the process of going thru my many years collection of bits, pieces, chunks and odds and ends of fabric. My next stage is the scraps and little pieces of fabrics I too really loved. This has helped me so much. Thank you!
That's awesome! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it ❤
Every year I struggle with how I should revamp my fabric storage & this video has given me some wonderful ideas. Even though I always use the "Leader & Ender" method of making another quilt while working on the main one, scrap management has become overwhelming at times. THANKS for your Reality Check (because I'm in the "no scrap left behind club"--LOL). Very helpful!
I am glad you found it helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate it! ☺️
Thank you for the video. It's very helpful when you're a beginner quilter and learning through others.
Yay - I am glad you found it helpful! Please do check out some of my learn to quilt videos, I think you may like them too ❤
I make doll clothes so scraps are what I use. I buy the left over fabric that fabric stores have marked down or 1/4 yard strips. I design my own patterns. So I never know what scrape piece of fabric I might need or can use in a project. I think I can use a couple of your storage options, I like the idea of using clear bins.
That sounds wonderful Patricia! I really appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment ❤
The harder that I try to get and stay organized, the worse it sometimes gets, particularly after working on a couple of related projects-e.g., pillows or hanging towels. I have always been so organized, but I am now having trouble staying organized. The plastic boxes (even though I hate to buy plastic because of the environmental issues) seem like something that would really help me, Stacey. Thanks for the organized and thoughtful video. I will try this! I have tried placing all scraps of the same or coordinating colors in huge ziplock bags. They aren’t in a precut mode, though. I think that I would use them more readily if I would adhere to your plan. Thanks again! Pat Berne
Yes, I hear you. It's hard to stay organised. I am glad you found this video helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment ☺️
LOVE LOVE YOUR PROCESS!!!! I am saving this to go back to OFTEN!
Yay - thank you so much! I appreciate it! ☺️
This video has been so helpful, thank you Stacey. I love how you fold your fabrics and how neatly they fit in those lovely stacking storage boxes, fingers crossed I can find similar here in the UK. Happy New Year. 😊
Thanks so much Trixie! I hope you can find something similar ❤🤞
Very nice storage. Lori Holt does something similar with scraps. Pre-cutting really makes sense.
Thanks so much! I don't follow Lori Holt, I should check her out ☺️
Great info, thank you. I think your method would work for me too. I was thinking about the comic boards but knew there was a reason I didn’t go down that rabbit hole. I have to agree that remolding around the board and pinning, probably would not happen on a regular basis. But doing an easy fold and putting it in a drawer sounds easy enough to maintain. Thanks for the tips.
I was being polite in the video - comic books were a disaster for me 😅 It wasn't just a simple fold, it can take a few goes to get it wrapped around the board nicely too. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment ☺️
This is great! I'm definitely going to buy containers like those soon. This will save my sewing space 😅
Yay - I am glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching ☺️
Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching 🙏
I would take the useless scraps and put them in a bag to use as stuffing for pillows or a dog bed or things like that.
That's a great idea! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
Where did you get your containers for the 1/2 yard folded fabric and the size is? Love the double drawers, Thank you so much!
Hi, they were all various sizes of the Brightroom range from Target ☺️
Hi I am new to your channel and I loved this video, thank you. Can you tell me the dimensions of the containers from Bright Room. Again thank you.
She said she got the little cards from Hobby Lobby. They have a large selection of card sizes and tags. Or you could cut your own OR swap some fabric scraps with a card making friend for paper scraps. You could sew the fabric to the card or try wonder under .
Thanks for replying 💞
Thanks for your storage ideas.
What is the paper that you used for the cards?
Love that idea !
I would make those for "to & from" gift labels. 🎁 Love this idea!
Thank you for watching! They were from Hobby Lobby ❤
That's a great idea! Also would be nice for Christmas tags ❤
Have been doing the same method but without the clear containers... As for scraps, I place all similar colors together then pair them with an opposite color for ease on my eyes (red scraps with green ones, blue with orange, etc.) then put them in a big Ziploc bags. You're right though- if they suddenly disappeared I don't think I'd miss them... And when you have something to make isn't it way more fun to go shopping for fabric than to check the stash?
Yes! We keep a lot of stuff we don’t need. Thanks so much for watching ❤️
I purchased pizza boxes from a local store. So I put the bigger pieces in corresponding box. I have bags of scraps and strings.
Well that sounds like a creative way to store fabric! Thanks for watching ❤
This available to watch if missed 😢thank you

Thank you @@ato5218
Hi, starts at a new time of 6:00 pm EST ❤
Do you have a link to the storage draws? ❤
Hi, they are just from Target, and are called Bright Rooms. 😊
Where do you buy the bright room storage units
Hi, they are from Target ❤
Are you able to repost a link to the boxes you have used? I must have missed it in the video and could not find it in your Amazon store.
Hi, I didn't post a link. They are various boxes from Target's brightroom range.
Next question? What shelf system do you store these delightful bins!!!?
Hi, I have a basic ikea pine shelving unit I use. I've been tempted to paint it lately 🤣
@@staceyleecreativespray painting that would be the fastest results. Either way the work involved in that would turn me away from the idea and use the stunning fabric as color! After all, with the clear storage and your fabric could be the focal point!
What is the size of the bins?
I used different sizes. They are the bright rooms range from target.
What would you do with a jelly roll?
So many things. You can make any project with them. Just sew the strips together until you have a piece the size you need for your project.
Or you can make a whole quilt like this one: th-cam.com/video/_1HiCJpLe9s/w-d-xo.html
connie, were you asking how she would store a jelly roll?
@@Borogerst32697 yes
@@staceyleecreative I mean how would you store one...

Just found you ... are you a Kiwi luving in the US?
Yes I am ☺️ Thank you for watching!
I Love your videos, but I do have one small suggestion. I have diagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder, and it’s often misrepresented, as it was here. OCD is not just a preference for tidiness. It can be, certainly. It’s a disorder that often impairs someone’s abilities to lead a peaceful or even functional life. Mine has nothing to do with tidiness. Usually it’s also preceded by intrusive thoughts that are unwanted and contrary to one’s values. For me, it has been harrowing and life-altering and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. So when I hear someone toss it sound like it’s just a quirk, I feel like I need to say something. Please continue making these videos, just without making light of something so difficult.
Thank you for supporting my videos. Apologies it sounded if I was making light of OCD, for me it's not about being tidy, but a genuine issue where things can't touch each other. My husband has diagnosed OCD, so we sympathise. I really just try to keep my videos as light as possible, so it was unintentional to offend anyone 🙏
People are so dang sensitive these days. Every feels the need to control other’s speech because they got offended. OMGoodness can we all just be individuals without outside control, opinions, emotional manipulation and freakin’ guilt trips. She does a good job here and no one knows if there is a situation… people just jump to the offense unnecessarily. So over it. Thanks for sharing with us and my apologies that you have to deal with this crap!
@@lauriepayseur5897 I feel like you are escalating the situation as it has already been worked out. Best to you, sincerely.
@@staceyleecreative thank you!
Nope, I wouldn’t give Target One Cent more of my money Ever Again.
Target is too woke for me.
Yes I know! There are similar containers on Amazon I believe ☺️
I prefer Dollar Tree or Any Dollar Store.
