1st valve - oh shit I did it! 2nd valve - ok I get it! 3rd valve - fuh yeah let’s do thiss! 4th valve - Damn I’m excited 5th valve - wow there’s so many valves to do 6th valve - fuh! I gotta do this 16x?! 7th valve - ugh 😩 I’m almost there 8th valve - fuh this shii! I need a break. 9th valve - I’m on a mission Last valve - I’m so excited!!! DONE!!!! Brush shoulders and you feel a sense of pride and excitement
This build series is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have an '04 EP3 Si I was planning on doing a straight K24 swap on...but now I've decided to do K20/K24 turbo build. I've done my fair share of D/B/H swaps and involved in 1 K24A2 EG hatch build, so I've been researching my EP3 K-turbo build since I bought the car 2 years ago. I know the basics and I'm hoping that your build series will fill in the gaps of what I don't know. #staymotorvated #staycommitted
I'm looking for a k24 engine to built up. But I can't find, ebay is too risky I guess. I live in Germany and there not too many people who interested in swapping engines and all.
You can make an adapter that fits into the spark plug hole so you can run 50psi of shop air into your combustion chamber so your valves stay sealed while the engine is built.
Rebuilding a K-series head is expensive af. It's gonna take me a few years to buy all of this stuff, but I'm building the K24 out of my moms old 2003 CR-V with forged internals (h-beam rods, stroker crank, 11.5:1 compression pistons, etc.), and using the head from a junkyard 2005 Civic SI, all going into a 2005 EM2 (Civic EX) with the knuckles/brake system from the CR-V as well to get the car into 5-lug and disk brakes on all four corners. I've already got the CR-V K24 and knuckles (replaced bearings in knuckles), new cv axles, in the car and it runs and drives, with new polyurethane bushings throughout, new end links, rack ends, ball joints, etc., custom delrin engine mounts, aftermarket rear control arms, lowered on some Skunk2 coilovers, Skunk2 adjustable camber bars in the rear. Now I'm just buying a bit at a time to rebuild the engine and head and get all the bolt-ons I need, like fuel pump, regulator, timing chain tensioner, short shifter, all the bits for the transmission (bearing and seal kit, all new bolts, etc..) shit really adds up if you want to make it solid. I'm not building this thing to be a race car. I don't want to have to rebuild everything every time I get on it. I just want it to be fast and reliable on the street, and that costs a lot of money.
Brooo you don't understand how much of a huge help this build guide is!! I blew my motor the other day and bought a new one and I'm gonna build it using your guides... Thank you so much for the info man🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Was messing around on youtube when I saw this and gave it a watch. You make it look super simple and relatively easy to do. I've been contemplating taking my 02 rsx and doing some work to it but haven't seen any real informational videos until this one. Thanks man
Thanks for doing this. It will probably save me and many others some mistakes. I look forward to the rest of the series. I will definitely continue to follow this build with all of the information you provide. Maybe at the end you could do a total cost and show every special tool you do or do not need. Good stuff.
These videos are helping me build the courage to do a build by myself. I have an 09 si. I plan on building the head, block (possible k24a2), transmission and turbo. Need to gather a parts list for my goal of a reliable 400whp daily. In the end, I want the car to drive and look like it should've came from the factory boosted. I've always done my own work, but never worked on the inside of a motor or transmission. It's intimidating, but I really want to learn.
Started building my 06 rsx this week. Just Bought k20a2 long block and tore it down. Ripped the front end apart and radiator out of car. Your videos help me look for the right internals to look at. This will be my first build and was lost at first.
Love the video. Very good information. One thing I would advise anyone in the future who's watching though, don't use supertech valve seals. Please use the OEM ones. The supertech a notorious for premature failure. You don't want to have to do the job twice...
My good friend sent me this video & all the other ones that follow. Very informative 👏🏻 👌🏻 Thank you for all your time and effort in helping us understand the process. 🙏🏻🙌🏻
I built a K20A2 back when they just came out, threw in Sk2 stage 2 cams, springs, and it kept stripping the teeth on the timing chain tensioner, I went through 4 tensioners and then finally took the cams out. Toda was the only company selling an aftermarket tensioner at the time, got fed up so didn’t even try it. I’d upgrade the chain tensioner if I were you.
Nice video, i'm in the process of rebuilding my 205k mile k20z3 and this will be very useful. I need to get me some of those intake manifold studs, I had my starter replaced a few winters ago and the butt munches cross threaded the nut on one of the studs for the intake manifold, so I had to spend hours carefully cutting off the nut with a dremel. Gouged my RBC slightly but could buff most of it out with a grinding stone. The engine's been a tank and only issue really is crazy oil consumption. Ordered a manley valvetrain kit, all new intake and exhaust valve guides, valves etc. The amount of shitty and non-metric home depot bolts I've found on this car during it's teardown has been disconcerting. If it's not a flange bolt/nut YOU'RE WRONG!
I recommend getting a bunch of rope pieces, wadding them up, putting them in 'balls' under the head at the valves and then using a tie down strap to secure the head tightly to your workbench. The rope is soft, won't hurt anything and I found, when using something similarly described, it was kind of difficult to get it exactly under the valve to stop it moving. I ended up doing what I described and it went like so easy. There are different thicknesses for tie downs-get a very thin width one so you don't have to move it much at all during the cylinder to cylinder movements.
I was going to sell my base and save up to buy a type s but realized I could just build motor to make the same power roughly and it would be more satisfying to tell people it's just a base 😊👍
Thanks Serg, great video very detailed explaination. There are only a few others that show this process in this manner, between all of you and the various articles available online just about anyone can build their own K-series engine and work on their own Honda's.
It's my dream to build a K24 w K20 top end since learning about it so this will come in super handy! It may be a while but It'll happen. Keep up the awesome info in the videos!
I bought one of those eBay valve spring removers, that looks identical to the one you are using. I used it once and it ripped all the aluminum threads out of the tool.
Just subscribed. I have an 06 RSX and was thinking of doing a build similar. This greatly help me price things out and start saving. I appreciate that you give the names and part numbers!
Loving the build guide! keep the videos coming. I'm building a K20A myself for my EK Civic. you should do a parts list for your videos - that would help us all out a lot.
Your videos are on point my man. My go to rsx channel. Just got mine tuned last week. Completely stock k20 with basic bolt ons made 213hp. Hoping to run a 13 sec pass next season
👏👏 just did this to my All Motor k24/20 build.. DIY is the way to go, but there is a head valve spring compressor that hold top & bottom I bought mine years ago just FYI
Hello, great video. I have a 2008 Honda Accord coupe 2.4l that U need to rebuild. Can you please recommend a parts store where I can buy high quality engines parts like pistons and rings.
Awesome video thanks for sharing information! I'm picking up a RSX and want to swap the block out so this is exactly what I needed! When you're installing the valve seals is it necessary to install the valves before the seal vs installing the seal then inserting the valve stems through the installed seal? Thanks Seth Liberty
Great video, but did you valve lap everything? You didn't show or mention this in your video and it needs to be done to create the best seal for the valves.
hey love all your videos, am rebuilding my 2004 Honda Accord K24A RAA-3 Engine, would like to know if i can use a RSP 2007 Civic type R head on this block
Muh dood i asked for this video series long time ago and you said you ll do it! God bless my bro ❤👏☺ Just some questions, is 5w30 best oil to use for the setup? , do you have to use an adjustable cam gear for the k20 k24 build? Do you use a k20a/k20a2 or k20z4 head? And k24a2 block? Is it ok to use k24a3 block? (From european accord cl9) i also want to know what kind of ecu programming you use? Do i have to replace pistons or original can withstand 260HP? Sorry for asking so much but i am really motivated to build a frank engine, thanks :)
Glad to see u back Sergio, u made me go through my closest and pull out my k20z3 head and begin preparing it to slap it on my 2013 si (k24z7) yeah it's going to be a little work and money but it's well worth it. Keep up the good work also will u be running stock cams or aftermarket.
Hi there exellect video . I havd honda stream k20 engine p0341 camshaft sensor .changed them but engine light still on .can be timing chan .car drives the same .

Got any videos building the ep3
How did your build turn out I just picked up a 2005 EP3 and plan on doing this build with AWD conversion.
You can make an adapter that fits into the spark plug hole so you can run 50psi of shop air into your combustion chamber so your valves stay sealed while the engine is built.

On point explanation n procedure, I want a RSX now 😅🥶they clean af
I just got a base rsx n I want to build a motor.

Building my first k20 hopefully everything goes well
Very well done. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. By far the best K Series assembly videos out there.
the rubber for the Ex seal can withstand hotter temps than the intake side.
You and young static on TH-cam arr definitely gonns help me when i build a k24 this year
Respect bro!! This is detailed & informative. 🍻
I thought super tech is a walmart branded item. I'm soon rebuilding one of my k24's so looking for a good Valle train spring
Awesome glad your video was suggested first couldn’t have been any clearer I hope I can message you for future questions! 👍🏼
Those springs can go either way, if anyone's wondering...there's no top or bottom. Some springs aren't like that, and have a top.
Dude seriously I love the attention to detail on these vids
Very helpful, this will be my first time doing any real engine work. Thanks so much!
Great video. The best series on yt for k series building. Thanks
It's my dream to build a K24 w K20 top end since learning about it so this will come in super handy! It may be a while but It'll happen. Keep up the awesome info in the videos!

I have a 06 Honda Civic si coupe k24-a2 bottom and k20-a2 top setup built super fast.
Great video there’s a k24 lying around the shop that im taking home
You make the best video bro not going to lie
Just subscribed. I have an 06 RSX and was thinking of doing a build similar. This greatly help me price things out and start saving. I appreciate that you give the names and part numbers!
Loving the build guide! keep the videos coming. I'm building a K20A myself for my EK Civic. you should do a parts list for your videos - that would help us all out a lot.
Man this video is perfect for a beginner at engine assembly. Your video was very helpful, bugs thanx man
Thanks serg! Makes me more confident, about to start my dream home garage! Greetings all the way from Malaysia!
Your videos are on point my man. My go to rsx channel. Just got mine tuned last week. Completely stock k20 with basic bolt ons made 213hp. Hoping to run a 13 sec pass next season
i need all the cylinder head part number and the site I can order from. Well detailed information grat job and thanks.
I wonder if this head will be beneficial for a boosted application
Awesome video! I plan on doing a K20/24 build on my 03 RSX Type-S. I will probably use this series of videos as a basis for how to do it.
Nice video bro a lot of info is simple ones you got the knowledge with the right tools 🛠
Nice catch on the cracked keeper 👊🏼
👏👏 just did this to my All Motor k24/20 build.. DIY is the way to go, but there is a head valve spring compressor that hold top & bottom I bought mine years ago just FYI
This is the perfect video. I’ll be recording following these steps exactly and let you know how it goes
love this series!
can't wait to see the complete engine start to finish!
Thanks for the info man I learned a few things I needed to know Incase of future k swap in my dc2
The inevitable
What did you do to the head at the machine shop because I know you have to do something to the combustion chambers to make it work
nice, helpful and well made.
A rolling partlist on these vids would be great.
Look forward to pt2
I have a k24 honda accord 2.4 l 4 door automatic I think the Acura k24 is the same built js trying to find the parts and time to add it all on
Hello, great video. I have a 2008 Honda Accord coupe 2.4l that U need to rebuild. Can you please recommend a parts store where I can buy high quality engines parts like pistons and rings.
Hey thank you very much!
Very informative.
A novice like me actually learned some worthy knowledge.
Could you put part number lists for every part you used in the video?
Looking forward to all the videos for this build thanks so much this is exactly what I want to build in my 97 honda civic coupe thanks again
Dude you said part 1 like there was going to be more. But this is the only one.
Awesome video, it’s like jdm lego🙌
Awesome video thanks for sharing information!
I'm picking up a RSX and want to swap the block out so this is exactly what I needed!
When you're installing the valve seals is it necessary to install the valves before the seal vs installing the seal then inserting the valve stems through the installed seal?
Thanks
Seth Liberty
Did you have a machine shop install the valve guides? What about lapping and polishing the valve seat?
Did this a while ago on a B18 build. I have a 08 Civic 1.8L looking to do this swap.
Great video, but did you valve lap everything? You didn't show or mention this in your video and it needs to be done to create the best seal for the valves.
Keep up the good work bro. I’m working on my k24
Super Helpful vid Serg ! Badass video man !!!
Well done
Thank you. Exellent.
Please keep up the great material.
God bless
Good attention to detail and tips man, I'll definitely be following these vids 👍
The last part u put in how to put the seals in ?
Good stuff! Looking forward to more of this build process!
Great video, detail detail detail!!
Great video I am very excited to see the rest of this series so when I go to do my k20 I will be prepared
hey love all your videos, am rebuilding my 2004 Honda Accord K24A RAA-3 Engine, would like to know if i can use a RSP 2007 Civic type R head on this block
very good , i wish you could do part 2 , im wanting to k swap my mr2 but i want a built engine so these video are excellent step by step
i have a question can you mix & match brands in the head or no for example supertech springs and retainers with ferrea valves or vice versa
Muh dood i asked for this video series long time ago and you said you ll do it! God bless my bro ❤👏☺
Just some questions, is 5w30 best oil to use for the setup? , do you have to use an adjustable cam gear for the k20 k24 build? Do you use a k20a/k20a2 or k20z4 head? And k24a2 block? Is it ok to use k24a3 block? (From european accord cl9) i also want to know what kind of ecu programming you use? Do i have to replace pistons or original can withstand 260HP? Sorry for asking so much but i am really motivated to build a frank engine, thanks :)
if you follow the build guide i will cover all those questions in detail for everyone 👍
great content Sergio! with this kind of guidance i might be building my own motor next time around lol. thanks for doing your thing!
Glad to see u back Sergio, u made me go through my closest and pull out my k20z3 head and begin preparing it to slap it on my 2013 si (k24z7) yeah it's going to be a little work and money but it's well worth it. Keep up the good work also will u be running stock cams or aftermarket.
Joseph Miller good luck with that project bro! I’ll be running my stage 4 prayoonto cams
This definitely was helpful good look man. Definitely comfortable of doing it myself 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Nice serg! How you explaining part by part how to install.
Hey I had a question can I use oem 02-06 rsx type s valves on my k20 rbc head
Hi there exellect video . I havd honda stream k20 engine p0341 camshaft sensor .changed them but engine light still on .can be timing chan .car drives the same .
I live in north Jersey and just bought a rsx And trying to build the head
When are you going to leave part two? is helping me a lot with the assembly of my engine I'm waiting!
Did u reuse the same valves or bought new ones?
Did you reuse the stock keepers? If not which ones did you go with? Thank you in advance!
Hi sir did lost motion spring can create ticking noise. my engine have clicking noise when i press gas when engine have load. this clicking noise only happen when car moving. if i rev when car in neutral this clicking noise not present
How reliable is a k series after you put bigger cams and duel valve springs? Does it chew tensioners up?
Do you usually change the valve stem as well as I believe the exhaust side can wear and start allowing oil to pass through and cause oil to burn
You would think they'd use their brains and be smart about the color coding on the valve seals. Blue should be for fresh air (intake) and brown should be for exhaust. It just makes sense.
What do you think of the DNJ Products, intake & exhaust valves ???
Great video man. Where you located? Need some knowledgeable people to kick it with. I'm in WA and I just got an 05 rsx, drove it home, it ran fine but I did a bunch of work, started it up and I'm getting a cylinder 3 misfire now with only 60 compression. 170 on all other cylinders. Leakdown test tomorrow to see if it's a broken ring, or something else. So I will probably be rebuilding the motor very soon also.
Check your valve clearances, as the exhaust valves can go very tight and end up not fully closing, causing compression leakage.
THUMBS UP, SUBSCRIBED, PART 2 WHERE YOU AT BRO?! THANKS SERG, YOU DA MAN!
Amazing video once ny k20z1 goes im going to k24 swap! Post notifications on!
I would like to know if you installed a K20 engine into your RSX ?also I would like to keep on writing you cause I think that I hurt my K20a2 due to low oil in engine.
Do you know how much i can resurface k24a3/2 head? If I will use high compression ferrea flat valves? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Great series Man!
Building a k24a1 (crv) motor with k20a2 head (06 tsx preferred) turbo to put in my 06 crv manual 5 speed. Would you use the k20 block timing chain or the k24 because of the difference in deck height between the two blocks? Thanks
I have a k20 in my 09 civic si.. and ive been trying to find out, but WHY do people do the frank k20/k24 build? Sorry for the noob question..
Hey Serg I’m about to start a k20/k20 type s swap what’s needed to complete that swap or what’s parts are supposed to use?
Did you lap the valves in at all with compound paste?
