After seeing Sato's condition, I would have done exactly what Ijuin did, and worked to help her out. No Child should have to suffer like that. It was fortunate that Ijuin was in a position to help due to coming from a wealthy family. Screw that Mom for abusing and later trying to take advantage of her daughter like that. But thanks to the Ijuin family, she was saved, so it's no wonder she fell for him, and since it helped him get over his shyness, the feeling was mutual.

Respect for your work the shades, however Ijuin's father's actions were not the right thing to do. Sato's body was full of bruises; they should have gone to the police to sue the mother for child abuse. The bruises were solid evidence, she would have lost custody for sure. Instead, they decided to pay the mother??? Like she deserved a prize
@@doublem3585 As far as Paying off the Mom, you're not wrong at all. In fact, the story itself even agrees. What happened when they did pay her? Her greedy ass came looking for more money later. Even the Father Admits it was the wrong call to make.
And yes, calling Child Services would have been the correct move in some respect, since she should be arrested for it, and there's a chance that happened, but that's mere speculation. But the issue would be what happens to Sato next. It's why Ijuin wanted to Marry her in the end (Besides simply liking her already), since otherwise, she would have just spent her last couple of years as a child in an orphanage, and since Teens that age are RARELY adopted, she'd have been left with nothing.
In the end, I think simply adding they called the Police on her, and offered to "Adopt" her before they got married later would have made it perfect. It's not like we haven't seen stories of Step-siblings getting together over a Bajillion times in these Mangas already anyway, and this would have been more than acceptable, since it was merely a formality to keep her from ending up in a shelter.

It's a little weird that her underwear was so frilly when she showed her bruises. Being from a poor family, it would make more sense if it were more simple looking.
It probably wasn't her underwear, since she had been wearing her's for a while. Those were probably "borrowed" from a maid, as her clothes were being washed.
Most times, the MMC is letting the homeless/soaking wet childhood friend bathe, and gives them clothes to wear while theirs are being washed. In this case, it was the head maid who found the underwear for her to wear.

That said, I would normally have to wear the same outfit 2 or 3 days in a row depending on certain conditions - one being having money for laundry... My mother (yes, single parent home) wasn't perfect, but I wasn't abused - hard to really hurt a boy used to fighting on the streets defending himself from bullies.

Stupid story. I usually don't talk bad about a story, but anybody with any brains knows that Saito's dad would immediately have gotten his lawyer and the police involved. They would have sent mom to prison for child abuse and petitioned for temporary custody of Maiko. I know it's supposed to be cute that they fall in love, but, if Saito's mom and dad were as kind as the story portrayed them as being, dad would have ripped Maiko's mom a new ass.

This reminds me of what my friend is currently going through. He is an RN and their is a frequent flier that comes in and out of the hospital with her father (former amateur boxer,). She’s always getting injuries and broken bones and hardly talks to anyone. They have tried multiple times with police and cps but she refuses to talk. My friend is always bringing her little candies and just offering conversation with her, and slowly she started to open up to him. The next time they came back her father confronted him saying if he continues to get close with his daughter “he’ll be sorry”, and forced the hospital to switch her RN from him to another. He doesn’t want to have him arrested because he is all she has in her own words and doesn’t want to admit that her father is like that, because she also said her mother was worse and she doesn’t want to go back to her.
