Thanks for the video. A couple years ago me and my girlfriend were walking on the beach in the outer banks NC, when some kind of giant trigger fish washed up in the waves, my girlfriend saw it just flopping and started yelling at me to get it. First mistake I made was trying to stick my finger in its mouth like you would with a bass. We decided to keep it, and it was incredibly hard to clean. I've only ever cleaned Trout and bass, but after a long time of trying I did end up with two real nice fillets. It tasted absolutely amazing, i think it's my favorite type of fish now. 🤤🐟

I once caught 2 nice sized trriggerfish on a party boat and a guy caught a super large grouper and said I'll trade you. I had at that point never eaten a trriggerfish only given them away so I quickly made the trade. The captain who was watching said son you've just been punked. That's one of the best tasting fish in the ocean. I've been eating them every since.

Triggers are delicious and worth cleaning.. Easy to catch if you get on top of a school of big ones. I usually let my weight fall to the bottom then reel up about 15 feet and let it sit there. Fresh squid chunks make the best bait imo.

Tried to fillet the way Victor did. 6 pieces of fillets and just simple fry them with oil. Oh man supprisingly good. The meat turn out firm and goldden. Yum. I knew the reef that holds a school of these. Will come back for more and they are easy to catch😂

Unfortunately he really didn't demonstrate the proper way for this fish. Pierced the stomach while cutting into the skin. Initial entry was in the wrong place.(under dorsal fin). Its a shame that any poser with a camera can mislead uneducated viewers.

Land Shark, another great tip for filleting any fish is to do each step for both sides, rather than doing one fillet at a time. It’s more time efficient and can lead to better fillets

Get a dexter eight inch tiger edge serrated knife and you don't have to risk eviscerating yourself on that initial cut. It will save the edge on the six inch knife. A triggerfish is actually one of the easiest fish to clean. You should ask the guy you hire to charter how to get the throats off the trigger. It is a true delicacy.

In between the trigger and the second dorsal fin there is a patch of soft flesh tight to the back bone. If you start your initial cut there rather than forcing it in up by the head you won't risk the knife jumping off their hard skin, and potentially cutting your self.
