  • In this video, I showcase what I think is the best small item organiser as part of the new Useful 3D prints series! It provides a very flexible way to store and organise your items using a modular system. It is all 3D printed and optimised to use the least amount of printing material and time. You can use it to store your electronic components, micro-controllers, breadboard wires, and anything else you want to organise!
    Comment below if you have any ideas or suggestions on how this can be improved!
    Features of the organiser:
    - Modular containers/boxes.
    - Labelled containers with handles.
    - Fast access to organised components.
    - Drawers can hold themselves when pulled out 3/4 of the way.
    - Drawers have an optional integrated sliding lid.
    - Optimised for least 3D printing material and time.
    - Updated! You can now choose exactly how many drawers each housing can hold, from 2 to 9. Check the repo below for more details.
    It was all designed using Fusion 360, and printed using the Creality CR6-SE 3D printer.

    This is such an awesome drawer! It will be amazing to add a modular feature to the overall drawer frame, to be able to add more shelves when needed

    This a really nice design. And the option for the drawer to have its own lid is a nice touch.

      Thank you very much! I am glad you like it. The lid is very useful, especially when you want to just take a few items with you on the go or work in a different workspace.

    If the cabinets themselves stacked somehow in a solid way then I'd probably be mad for this!
    Bonus if the drawers also have a lip or magnet to stay shut.

      Those are two very great improvements! I will add them to the list of changes for a possible next version of this organiser. Remember to subscribe if you enjoyed or found the video useful!

      I just added 8 different sizes for the drawers if you are interested. You can now choose how many drawers you want in each housing. Check out the repo for the updates.

    Drawers of double height would seal the deal for me. That way you can have some regular/small height and 1,2 higher drawers. Some parts are just a "little" bit bigger..

      That is a great idea! This will be added in the improvements list for a possible next version of this. If you enjoyed the video or found it useful remember to subscribe :)

      @@ProjectsWithRed plenty of design options. One is a rotating clip on the frame (like a height-length door with snap-on latch , except there's no need to cover the entire front, just the sides to prevent drawers from escaping). Alternatively it could be a locking pin or xz-axis latch on each drawer. A *''''''''''''''u'''* shaped groove on the frame walls may also hold drawers in place using gravity (?). If this is not clear, the point is to have fun lol.

    • @no_one6749
      @no_one6749 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      drawers may also clip into place using an existing box clasp mechanism

    • @no_one6749
      @no_one6749 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Suppose one wishes to expand this system. If the box was modular, one could assemble a larger array with sliding dovetail options. Look up modular on thingiverse.

    Housings with bottom filled still have the massive bridge? I think the hole and the filled part need to be reversed?
    Maybe you could add a container with its own lid for small SMD resistors and whatnot, so there's less chance for dat accident we all know to happen.
    magnets for keeping the drawers in and maybe even magnets to stack multiple housings could be awesome!

    • @ProjectsWithRed

      Yep, that is correct, 3D files are now updated ;). Those are all great ideas which will possibly be added in the next version of this. Remember to subscribe! :)

    If I may make a suggestion, and I may just modify your part myself for my use, the entire drawer holder could be designed to use no supports if you would print it with the back side down and cut an angled profile from the bottom up on what is the bottom the way the .stl files are oriented on github. This would take more material, but I hate supports :)

    • @RobertResearchRadios
      @RobertResearchRadios 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So I did this and the material savings just weren't worth having to print an overhang. Filling in your "bottom" side is the way to go and print it with the back down.

    • @ProjectsWithRed
      @ProjectsWithRed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RobertResearchRadios You can actually print the drawer housings without any supports, bridging will take care of it :) However, I have now updated the repo that includes all housings with the bottom half filled in, just in case your printer is not able to do long bridging. Thank you for the suggestions, you just made it better!
