Just got a craftsman Led like the one you have. I just built and turned it on about an hour ago. I'm glad to see your review and know I picked the right light!

You know, you don't have to want to be sponsored to say what you (manufacturers) use.
    Thank you for sharing.

thanks - I just received a halogen work light (cheap) today. After watching your video I think I'm going to return it and pay a little more for the LED. I will be using it for outdoor (gardening) work at night and in my garage - so I think it will be worth the extra cost.

Good video! Do you know if there are "replacement" LED lights that will plug-n-play into an existing halogen work stand? Seems I could save some money not having to buy another stand.

Thanks. I do know they have those replacements but never found them cost effective especially since the rest of the luminaire is junk.

Sorry but I wouldn't take that to a job site especially if I was painting and definitely not with a flimsy tripod . Halogen lights still have their place if they're built properly, taken care of properly and if you don't touch the bulbs with your fingers . There's a reason why they tell you to use a paper towel and to clean them when you install the bulbs .
The oil from your skin is death to a halogen bulb .As with anything buyer beware .
If you want quality you have to do some research and pay a little more for a quality product .
I've seen countless LED lights go bad because of poor quality control and cheap materials being used and many of them are made in China by huge companies that contract with name brand stores like Northern Tool, Harbor freight , Walmart etc but essentially it's exactly the same product with only cosmetic differences .
That being said it's a good idea to make sure you get a good warranty and that the company will honor their products .
BTW if you get one of those "Braun" 4 ft LED shop lights from Harbor freight make sure you get the extended warranty . Mine lasted literally 92 days when it died and almost caught fire due to the cheap transformer in the housing which was wrapped in cardboard and stuffed in the fixture .
Transformers get hot and especially when there's no way for the heat to escape and especially if they're wrapped in cardboard and a lousy tape job .
Oh and they're definitely not made by the well known Braun corporation in Germany..lol
They must have paid for the use of the name but that's about it
Because I have electrical work experience I was able to find a suitable stepdown transformer for it despite the lack of specs from the company otherwise it would have been just another piece of e-waste in the landfill .

Your loss. I have never had an LED fixture go bad but have gone through half a dozen halogen junk fixtures.

@@CountryLivingExperience led bulbs generally are crap due to bad power supply and bad heat removal from the led diode, they say that LED bulbs last 50 000 hours but they won't even last 10 000, i prefer halogen work lights over led ones due to the better build quality the option to replace the bulbs when they go bad and they more pleasant colour temperature, i believe halogen bulbs were treated unfairly in this video, treat the halogen bulbs right and they will easily outlast the LEDs, sure halogens get hot but i like that as it is cold here in Norway, and they say that they won't survive being dropped but of you were to drop a led work light and a halogen one from a distance of about one meter they would both break only the difference being that with the led one you would need to get a new work light as the bulbs are not replaceable and you would need to get a new crap led fixture for 60 dollars atleast but with the halogen one you would just need a new bulb for a couple of dollars and you could also select which wattage you need. I got a halogen work light from the 1980s and it still works as a dream and ive had to replace the bulbs about 2 times and its got a lot of hour's on it and i much more prefer it than thoose crap overpriced led plastic work lights

@@CountryLivingExperience and you are blaming the work lights for breaking saying the ballast was bad even though halogen work lights dont need one, you probably smeared your grease hands all over that poor halogen bulb, also halogens dont get much hotter than LEDs and if a cord for a halogen work light went bad i could just unscrew the cover and replace it but with those crap plastic ones they are plastic welded shut so you cant open em.

@@CountryLivingExperience Sure halogens aren't perfect like the bulbs will explode if a drop of water hits the bulb when its hot but if you use it right it will last, and most of your problems seem to be mostly inconveniences and not problems.

i have 2 worklights. 1 halogen and 1 LED. the LED unit is used in the summer and the halogen is only used in the winter. i have a third but that's just a passive reflector that i use to better focus the light and reduce shadows. anyways, that's my 2 cents on lights.

mine had two halogen bulbs one burned 5-6 months ago, second one died just today. I was looking for to replace bulbs on amazon then I decided to search on youtube before I buy. Then I saw this video; I agree with him; halogen lights belongs to garbage. I will get myself a led work light at costco. Thx for the video.

Either or can be great or junk. Lots to the construction of these things and they range in price from 20.00 to 500.00

Idk man less are great but I dont thi they are cracked up to be... yeah... better light and more efficient I admit... but longevity... my dad before he passed away in 2014.... had 2 halogen work lights combo on a tripod and it's been since 2010 since he replaced them.. they are still working today... I had an led version... ain't last 2 years.

    This is cool...
ORRRRRRRR... you can just upgrade the HALOGEN bulbs to LED🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @CountryLivingExperience
      @CountryLivingExperience  3 ปีที่แล้ว

That could work if you can find that very specific led bulb that will work with the ballast in the halogen fixture.
