Making a LED worklight

- I needed a small worklight for my milling machine. A bit longer video than normal, let me know what you think!
Learned a lot about milling during the making of this worklight. The inside looks pretty terrible because I did almost everything wrong :S next time it will be better :)

Some comments though:
The purpose of the fins in a heatsink is to increase the surface area. The more area, the better the heat dissipation. So it would have been better to cut more grooves with a smaller tool.
And please, please, PLEASE, everybody on the internet, learn how thermal compound should be used!
For optimal thermal coupling you want to have no air between the mating surfaces, which is best achieved when they are as flat and smooth as can be.
Thermal compound is then used to fill any remaining surface imperfections. And that means you only use a very small amount and spread it as evenly as possible.

I know "a LED worklight" is the correct way to say it, but "an LED worklight" just sounds so much better...
1 Suggestion - Please put a picture of the completed project at the Beginning. I can't count the number of times I've had to skip to the end just to get an idea of what someone is making.
Putting a better picture of the completed project at the end would also improve your videos.Thanks

Surprisely easy looking project. How long it did take time?
Hoi Daniel, nette video en mooi lampje. Even een tip voor het solderen. Op praktisch alle metalen zit een oxidatielaag die het moeilijk maken om soldeertin aan het metaal te hechten. De flux die in de soldeertin zit verwijdert deze oxidatie laag chemisch en maakt het oppervlak schoon wat de soldeer goed laat vloeien en makkelijk laat hechten aan de metalen. Echter wanneer je de soldeertin op je hete soldeerijzer doet om deze vloeibare soldeer daarna over te brengen naar je connectie is deze flux praktisch al verdampt en onwerkzaam. Dit maakt het solderen een stuk lastiger en de connecties over het algemeen een stuk onbetrouwbaarder. Het werkt vele male beter om de twee connectie punten bij elkaar te brengen, dan met de soldeerbout beide tegelijk op te warmen en dan vervolgens de soldeertin tegen het contactpunt van beide connectie punten houden. Hoop dat je er wat aan hebt.
Hey! Thanks! Daar ben ik mij zeker van bewust! alleen heb ik vaak geen 3 of 4 handen die dat mogelijk maken, en ik ben te gehaast om een helpende hand er bij te zetten. Dus ik smeer wat flux en doe het op deze manier. Af en toe mijn soldeerpunt vervangen is ook niet zo'n ramp. Zeker met de knikkerbanen is het bijna onmogelijk om het op de correcte manier te doen ;)
@@danielbruin ja, dat is vaak inderdaad het lastige. Zelf gebruik ik in dat sort gevallen toch maar even een helpend handje. Ken je BigCliveDotCom? Die is bijzonder handig in het bij elkaar houden van meerdere componenten, de soldeer en de soldeerbout. Ik doe 't 'm niet na. Voor knikkerbanen of dergelijke is S-39 natuurlijk altijd het makkelijkste, maar dat is niet echt geschikt voor elektronica.

Парень конечно молодец, самостоятельно сделал настольный светильник. Но у кого дома есть фрезерный станок и лазерная резка, чтобы такое сделать? Честно говоря видео ни о чём, проще сходить купить за 5$ в магазине.
