You're a life saver… No more trips to Lense Crafters… I now have 3 pairs of 2132's in different colors. With my prescription transition lenses, it's now a snap to swap out the lenses to match formal or casual occasions. Thanks again.
Wanted to share my experience: I have a pair of 52mm rb2132's that slipped off my nose while I was looking down and fell onto rough concrete. It scuffed the frames a bit and scratched the lenses pretty badly, so I decided to buy take-off lenses from eBay and replace them myself. This video along with several others on TH-cam was quite encouraging, but the procedure didn't turn out so well. Although I followed the directions in the video, the lenses did NOT pop out, and eventually I put so much pressure on the lens that it cracked. At that point I decided to purposefully break both lenses out. After cleaning the remains of the lenses from the frame I realized that they had been glued in! I wish I had placed the frames in hot water or used a blow dryer first: it may have loosened the glue and allowed them to pop out. Popping the replacement lenses in was easy, but I was extremely disappointed to find that they rattle around in the frames! My conclusion: Ray-Ban glues the lenses in, which may make them extremely difficult to get out, and unless you somehow glue in your replacement lenses, they will rattle around. Again, I bought original Ray-Ban lenses off ebay, so Fuse brand or other aftermarket replacement lenses may be engineered slightly larger than the originals so that they fit snugly, I don't know. I hope my experience gives some insight into any others attempting the same, and I'm curious to know if anyone else tried this and encountered glued-in lenses.
Zach Eller I haven't encountered any descriptions of glued-in lenses on New Wayfarers (and believe me, I looked around online a lot), so I'm a little confused myself. No one can answer your question but you: I only came to the conclusion after breaking my old lenses out and discovering a dried, glue-like residue inside the frame's lens channel (coupled with the impossibility of popping the old lenses out with the ease demonstrated on TH-cam videos like this one). My replacement lenses still rattle around (although not too terribly, and I don't think they'll fall out or anything), and I'm still debating whether to buy aftermarket lenses such as those offered by the author of this video and hope they fit more snugly, or to do some research on the appropriate glue to use to secure my current lenses in. Haven't really gotten around to it.
I have a pair of 55mm new Wayfarers. I found they needed to be soaked in hot tap water for 5 minutes or so before the lenses would pop out. I found glue deposits around the lenses which was what had stopped them coming out.
My original 55s were a little difficult to remove. Then I tried your hot water method and they came out with much less effort. Thank you for your video!!
I have a pair of prescription new wayfarer sunglasses and also one with clear (I love these frames) I was able to switch the clear into the black ones and the tint into the colored frames. They look more suited now and popped out just as easily as yours did. I'm glad I was able to swap them without any damaging or anything.
Thanks so much.. You saved me a bunch of money !!! I have a pair size 55 945/57 Honey/Black .. Originally I had them in 52 which I had my reading strength lens added.. Cost a small fortune... After a couple years I smashed them to pieces.. I got 2 pair of 55 in same color used on Ebay for a great price, but had to pay for the larger reading lens to be put in., another small fortune . After 3 years they finally gave out.. Always the frame goes.. I was so upset until I remembered I had the spar pair & watching your video I had changed the lens in 5 mins.. Feewwww, I thought i was going to have to go to a lens shop & get ripped off again..Now if ONLY I could find this color again as another back up ! The Honey/Black makes for great looking reading glasses..
Couldn't get my wayfarer 55 lenses out at first ... heated some water up in the microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds ... I set one end of my wayfares in the coffee cup for about a minute are two... then I used your technique and the lenses popped out with no problem. Thanks
thanks for these advices !! my originals lenses g15 were glued as many people !! so i needed to put them into hot water few minutes and that’s it !!! thanks !!!
Replaced a pair of lens for some ray ban 1531 prescription eyeglasses thanks to your video . The lens were tough to get out so I used a heat gun and applied heat around the edges of the frame for about 15-30 seconds moving the heat around continuously then popped the lens out using the method shown in this video.
I'm so Upset with my New Blue Lens Raybans the salesman for The eye Dr) in the mall in NC ( lens crtrs) #1 had put a 12 yr old script in New glasses #2 used the display glasses everyone stretched out so the lens fell out first day and the blue lenses take far too long to turn blue I've never been so Disappointed in Ray Bans quality in my life and shame on Lenscrafters! Aug 8,23 From the Beach in Wilmington Nc ( eyeglasses )
it worked! Thanks! I needed hot water, but after about 30secons it was super easy. I used original lenses from Luxottica on my RB2132 901 55[]18 I actually decided to make an upgrade to polarized lens, which wasn't as easy to order as you have to know the exact code when calling customer support which is RB2132 901/58 55[]18 ($56 with shipping). Good luck!
Hola... Tengo unos Ray ban se rayaron .. Pero no son cristal no vidrio. Más bien o se parece plástico ...se puede llevar a cualquier rayban a cambiar su vidrio?
I have 10 colors of this frame and 1 set of Rx lenses. I pop my lenses into a different frame everyday and have been doing this for several years with no breakage. I have been showing this to my patience and they are now doing it as well and I've never had to replace a frame for any reason.
I bought another frame but ( see my other comment) the 2nd frame is a tad (mi nute) bigger than my original (Sample Rayban from Lenscrafters) Ugh Please only any suggestions Please?
Thanks that was easy, Sunglass Hut refused to replace my Raybans when the lens cracked after two days and told me I couldn't replace the lenses in the New Wayfarer and tried to sell me another pair. Took two seconds to remove the lenses after watching this. My theory is after doing the "trade in deal" they would of replaced the lenses and resold them since they were still brand new. Just my theory though.
Wtf I was trying to change the lenses for my Cats 5000 and I'm not kidding I was messing with them for about 5 hours. I was even getting blisters on my fingers, I was getting mad then I watched your video and it only took me 4seconds lol.
I couldn’t get my Large Matte Black frame New Wayfarers with polarized lenses! (For some odd reason, Ray Ban doesn’t make this specific model). So I just got some polarized lenses from LenzFlip for my frame and swapped em! I now have polarized!
Managed to pop my old lenses out ok, but I can’t get the new ones in for the life of me. Tried hot water and a hair dryer and it really doesn’t make any difference. New lenses are the exact same size and shape as the old ones, so that’s right. Just can’t get enough force to push the final corner in. No clue what I’m doing wrong.
I got a pair of prescription wayfarers can I swap out the prescription lenses for nonprescription ones? If so can they be plastic or do they have to be glass like the originals? Thanks!
What kind of lens is the transition lens ? I am getting my eye exam done in town .. Could I send the prescription with the frame ? And if so about how much would it be an estimate?
I've got some Rayban 2140 50mm they feel like glass lenses, having trouble getting them back in, even with hot water and an extreme lens bending amount of force, they won't pop in. I've even tried contorting the frame to roll the lens back in, is there something different required for this model? the internal bevels are quite deep, it seems 95% of the lens goes in, but the top nose corner just can't seem to slip in.
Hi sir, I read that the nylon frames in new wayfarer is inferior to acetate, and it will not age well - cracking/peeling with age. Any truth to this? Do acetate really last longer?
I am a student and I am going to order the ray bans 2132 52 Mimi's it possible to get transition lenses is this the best option or should I leave them as clear lenses
I tried as you do, but lenses seem to be too big. Even pushing it didn't work. Maybe bacause my lenses are new, my glasses are made in the US, the old Ray Ban.
I placed my glasses in coffee/ tea temperature hot water as indicated by this video and it seems to have turned my glossy black frames to ash grey and ruined my genuine ray ban prescription dark lenses :(
i really need to change my 2140 i have 2 spare glasses and the originals are really scratched out and it really stops me from seeing through i need help ASAP

10 years later this video is still reminding me how to put my lenses back in!
Start out at the corner, end at the nose. Geez, that slogan made it so EASY! Thank you!!!!
Was looking for an easy way to pop my lenses out and this method made it super easy to replace my lenses. Thanks!

This was so helpful!!! Switched the lenses on my ray bans in under a minute!!
Worked like a charm on my RB 2132....just did it on 2 pairs and took me less than 10 minutes including lens cleaning with microfiber. Thanks!

thanks for this, very helpful, could not get stubborn 55m lenses out until watched your technique. entertaining too!
Had no idea how easy the lenses was to pop out, thanks
Thank you souch, very very helpful! Replaced my lenses super quick because of this. You saved me an aneurysm
thanks for these advices !! my originals lenses g15 were glued as many people !! so i needed to put them into hot water few minutes and that’s it !!! thanks !!!
thanks for your help. I just did it and it worked just fine.
Great video! Clear instructions helped me change my ray bans lenses

Just did this to 3 different sets of glasses worked perfect. (All Ray-Ban)
Thanks man. Was apprehensive until I saw you pressing that hard. Mine went smooth
This worked so quickly on my rb4221 when I had to replace bc of a lens scratch. Thanks!!
This same video has helped me SEVERAL times over the last few years. Your content is AMAZING and explains it perfectly.
Definitely, warm up your frames. Using hot water or a hair dryer will make both lenses out AND in much easier- shows you how at ~4.50
Took a couple of tries, then used hot water, came right out and new lens in !! Easy!
THANK YOU MAN!
This was perfect, Sunglass Hut told me Rayban charges 80% of the glasses worth to do a polarized lenses repair&replace job.
Just did this and it literally took me one minute. Great video explaining how to do this. Thank you for posting.
Just did this with my 52mm rb2132 sunglasses with replacement frames from ebay. Worked great! Thank youuuuuuuu! :)
Glad I could help. I have just about everything you could possibly need. So next time you want something just email me at bullcityoptician@gmail.com
worked for me! I just replaced some scratched lens in my favorite 2132 RBs! Thanks very much for the video!!
worked perfectly on my RB4179. Push through at the nose, perfect
Thank you so much! It took me less than one minute to switch out the lens on my Erika.
It was a very good advice to use a piece of cloth to remove the old lenses,as they both broke I could have injured my fingers..
Hola... Tengo unos Ray ban se rayaron .. Pero no son cristal no vidrio. Más bien o se parece plástico ...se puede llevar a cualquier rayban a cambiar su vidrio?
Yep works. it is that simple. No hot water or anything needed
This worked with my RB2193 model. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Worked with the rb4210 wayfarer too. Please, do a patreon so I can give you money for this!

Your video broke my ray bans. Thanks.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for this post!

What an informative video for changing out the lenses! Thank you so much!
I am getting them prescribed and I'm glad I can change the lenses if possible thank you
Best video/method for this!
Thank you!
I couldn’t get my Large Matte Black frame New Wayfarers with polarized lenses! (For some odd reason, Ray Ban doesn’t make this specific model). So I just got some polarized lenses from LenzFlip for my frame and swapped em! I now have polarized!
Thanks. Got the lenses out by using the hot water trick. Now can you tell me what to do about the discoloration of my frames due to the hot water? :-(
Thanks for this! Worked great for my 55's!
Thanks for the tips! Worked well. Just takes your technique using a little force and no fear haha!
this worked for my 2132 52. Thanks for the vid.
u made it look so easy dude although it isn't! took me hours and the lenses didn't even uninstall-_-
wow I finally did it! after watching your video the hair dryer helped and did the trick! ty.
I did it! Thanks so much! This was extremely helpful. Much appreciated! Cheers!
This was amazing! We got the lenses in so fast - thank you :)

How to replace lens for folding wayfarer?
I got a pair of prescription wayfarers can I swap out the prescription lenses for nonprescription ones? If so can they be plastic or do they have to be glass like the originals? Thanks!
What kind of lens is the transition lens ? I am getting my eye exam done in town .. Could I send the prescription with the frame ? And if so about how much would it be an estimate?
thanks for the video, you made it super easy.
I’m assuming you can use this technique with the 58mm?
Do you know if changing the lenses on the Wayfarer 'Stories' will be as easy?
Thank you so much! Works perfect and easy!!!
I had the same problem. What’s with the 2140 model? I love the frames but one drop and they shattered.
Thanks for the video. Worked great!
where do you get the new lenses from ?
55mm replacement starts 2:45
Hi sir, I read that the nylon frames in new wayfarer is inferior to acetate, and it will not age well - cracking/peeling with age. Any truth to this? Do acetate really last longer?
You're awesome. thanks for the info, I love a good DIY!
was able to pop out the glasses but couldn't put a new pair back in :( i'm getting desperate. i've tried the hot water and the hair dryer.
I am ordering the ray bans next month thank you
perfect demonsration,thank you!
I have the polarized gradient lenses on my new Wayfarer 2132. I was surprised it was... Frank my lenses Reddit the middle thanks a lot
Thank You.. Just Did Mines 👍🏽👍🏽
I think you were trying to hypnotize us " Start at the inside corner push down at the nose"
Where do I push down?
I am a student and I am going to order the ray bans 2132 52 Mimi's it possible to get transition lenses is this the best option or should I leave them as clear lenses
Thanks. That worked perfectly for me.
Awesome...worked like a charm.
Does this work on the wayfarer II 2185 with glass lenses?
But where do I press down?
I tried as you do, but lenses seem to be too big. Even pushing it didn't work. Maybe bacause my lenses are new, my glasses are made in the US, the old Ray Ban.
This is just what I needed, ordered some new frames and my prescription is the same.
I am afraid that my 2132 breaks.. do you think that there will not break anything
Thanks a bunch man. I am now a pro at replacing broken lenses. Haha
Where can I find original polarized Ray Ban lenses?
Thank you cause I didn't get any instructions on how to change the lenses and America best sure didn't say anything about a second set of lenses
Very useful, many thanks
I placed my glasses in coffee/ tea temperature hot water as indicated by this video and it seems to have turned my glossy black frames to ash grey and ruined my genuine ray ban prescription dark lenses :(
Can I do the same with Ray-Ban BR4340 V ??
RayBan no longer has replacement lenses for for my rb 4006. Can you make them? I have used plastic lenses and they are cheep.
Sorry for the delayed response. If you still need my help email me at bullcityoptical@gmail.com
Ur video was the only one that worked !
i really need to change my 2140 i have 2 spare glasses and the originals are really scratched out and it really stops me from seeing through i need help ASAP
Thank you, excellent video!
