    FYI if the lens in the frame is broken before taking out use a cloth so the glass doesn’t go in your finger

    Worked like a charm. Thanks!

    Once you do it, it's a no brainer, thanks, kind of scary to do but totally worked.

    WHEN INSTALLING NEW LENSES, YOU NEED TO APPLY A LOT OF PRESSURE.
    Technique I used successfully: essentially, you use a table as the surface so that you can press your body weight with your hand onto lens so that the lens/frame is sandwiched between your hand and the table. To do this find a corner of a sturdy table that you can put just one half of the frame on (so that the frame arms, when extended fully, point towards the floor). Here, the eye portion that sits in your cheekbone and eyebrow should be against the table. Insert your new lens, as instructed in this video into the frame, so that the only portion remaining to insert is the corner nearest the nose bridge. At this point, place a dish towel in between the table corner and the lens frame (you are using the surface of the table to bc essentially act as a back stop as you press the lens into the frame). Ensure the lens is set in place and put another fold of towel between your hand and the lens. Then apply steady pressure to the lens while trying to hold the frame in place. Should pop in, no issues.

    I tried really hard doing as you suggested while avoiding braking the frames, and only ended with very tired thumbs/hands. I have tried different ways, from different angles and nothing, the lenses seem to be permanently fixed to the frames. Is there a reason for that? thank you

      @fuse_lenses  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glass lenses are very inflexible and can be hard to get out. You can try getting a bowl of warm, soapy water, soaking the frames for around 30 seconds, and then trying to remove the lenses again, repeating this process a few times. Also, many optical shops will assist with lens installation, often for free. So, if you have an optical shop close to you, you can always try bringing them in. Good luck!

    Can this be done for Rayban Rx5121 wayfarers (eyeglass frames)? Also, can you pop the glass lenses back in if you want to go back to the original lenses? Thanks

    • @fuse_lenses
      @fuse_lenses  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is the same method! You can re-install glass lenses. Because the glass is rigid, you can grab a bowl of hot, soapy water and soak your frames for around 30 seconds, this will make the plastic a bit more malleable and easier to work with while you install your lenses. You can also always take them to a big box optical retailer and they can assist with installation, most of the time for free!

    • @fuse_lenses
      @fuse_lenses  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, soap and hot water will work to make your frames more malleable. If you're still having trouble, we suggest bringing your frames into a local optical shop. Most shops will assist with lens installation, often free of charge.

    What do I do if the Fusion lenses will not go back into the New Wayfarer frames?

  • @vigneshrk
    @vigneshrk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    not cool...the first lens shattered but the 2nd one popped out. i got the RAYBAN 2140 - ORIGINAL WAYFARER replacement lenses but they didnt fit in my frames...why do you guys have 2 different 2140 lenses on your website? you have the "2140s" & "original 2140s"? my receipt says original 2140 & i even checked on the rayban website and its called original but your original 2140 lenses didnt fit...super disappointed

    • @fuse_lenses
      @fuse_lenses  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 2 different versions of the RB2140 (don't ask why RayBan decided to do that). The "Wayfarer" is different from the "Original Wayfarer" in shape and size. There is also multiple sizes for each version (50mm and 54mm). You will want to check your frames temples for the exact version and size as the receipt may be wrong.

    • @fuse_lenses

      Warm soapy water helps! If you soak them for about 30 seconds, it can make the frames more malleable and the lenses a little easier to get out.

    Chipped the hell out of one of the lenses and cracked it through. About afraid to try putting the new ones back in. Edit: Soak them in hot water for several minutes. Makes the frame more flexible, expands the plastic and loosens any gunk around the lenses. The new ones just popped right in.

  • @daftsapien
    @daftsapien 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have this same model but with the rubber coating on the plastic, how would I be able to remove this rubber coating to just have it on plastic since the coating is aging and becoming sticky.

    • @fuse_lenses
      @fuse_lenses  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To remove sticky coatings on frame material - I would try a wet magic eraser on it. Rubbing alcohol might also do the trick but that can damage coatings, especially lens coatings so be cautious.

    • @daftsapien
      @daftsapien 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fuse_lenses Wouldn't a magic eraser be too strong for the rubber coating? Alcohol with time tends to damage the coating as you mentioned and I would like to preserve it.
