A fantastic way to mark it, tenuous or not, and sound and vision somehow go together in a very 1969 way. Thanks as ever for giving us the benefit of your marvellous work.

There are quite a few songs about the moon from the dance band years.l guess in those days it signalled romance rather than exploration. My favourite song is Moon by Roy Fox with Al Bowlly.A very atmospheric record that is little known. However any Ambrose record never lets you down and this one is very well played.

Nice Ambrose recording. I have an American band playing Get Out And Get Under The Moon saved on my system but I can only find the .wav file and not who it is by. For some reason I have saved it under a compilation and not listed the name of the band. Another nice Moon track though. Cheers.

Hello Pauline. The American band playing "Get Out And Get Under The Moon" is probably Sam Lanin and his Orchestra. This side was issued on various labels under several pseudonyms. It sold very well and often turns up on 78. In the UK, it was issued on Dominion as by the "Miami Royal Palm Orchestra". It features some nice solos by Leo McConville and Glenn Miller.

Thanks Nick, I think you may be correct, given that you are so knowledgeable, you probably are. I will do a proper search of my recordings and put my mind at rest. It is interesting to know about the solo performances, I will listen for them.

Mystery solved. Nat Shilkret and His Orchestra from 1928. Trivial, I realise, but I couldn't let it go. Cheers.
