I’d like to see a video where you are blindfolded and see if you can tell the difference between 28.5 and 29 mm bars. Not saying you can’t - just think it would be an entertaining video. In fact, a video where you identify various power bars blindfolded by diameter and knurl would be cool.
@@ayloryabI I’ve had both and can easily tell the .5mm difference. I have smaller hands, maybe that’s why? Either way, I prefer the 28.5mm because of my smaller hands.
First they take the dingle bop and they smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then...repurposed for later batches. They take the dingle bop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, becasue the fleeb has all the fleeb juice. Then, a schlami shows up, and he rubs it...and spits on it. They cut the fleeb. There's several hizzards in the way. The blamfs rub against the chumbles, and the...plubis, and grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with...a regular old plumbus.
Coop you gotta check out the Philosophy Gym Olympic Barbell and do a review! It's not a power bar but it's got specs pretty comparable to a standard Rogue Ohio Bar w/cerakote but it only costs $170 brand new with free shipping. Smaller 80" version is only $120. It's the best value all-purpose bar I've seen and they even make a shorty 72" version which is possibly one of the best rackable 6ft barbells around since it still has decent plate sleeve length. P.S. It's gotta be Kabuk-nurl 😁
Hey Coop, I've been shopping for a short bar for the last little while. Not enough space in my apartment to have a full length bar. I haven't found much in the way of reviews on them. I'd love to know your opinion. Thanks Derek
I've been using the Olympic bar that came with the 300 lbs Fitness Gear weight plates that I bought for $100 from Dick's Sporting Goods for many years now. I've bench-pressed 355 lbs with it, and I have never found a good reason to buy a stronger Olympic bar, especially now that I prefer doing other exercises than the bench press, like pull-ups and dips. If you are into powerlifting and bench pressing 500 pounds raw, I can understand why you want a much stronger Olympic bar. Yet, the vast majority of home gym owners aren't bench pressing 300 pounds-- especially, not for reps.
Mine bent deadlifting 345-355 regularly. It also feels like absolute crap in your hands. Even more so when you compare to a real bar. Strong disagree. You can get used plates and a used great bar for not much more. We’ve gotta stop buying junk from China that gets thrown into a landfill or the ocean within a couple of years.
@@shiwakuseven5859 true, but some of us like to waste money, wanting the names we like, the “quality”, etc. Kinda like why I bought an Acura over a Honda. Basically the same thing, just more expensive, name, etc.
I have a 28.5mm and bar, the Rogue Chan bar. I enjoy it for pulls like the deadlifts as well as other floor work movements like power cleans and snatches. That being said, I don’t quite enjoy 28.5mm on the squat, bench and overhead press. At 200 lbs you won’t feel the whip much if at all. However it becomes increasingly noticeable the further north of 300 lbs you go. Also I don’t like the way 28.5 mm feels both in hand during presses and on the back during squats.
I liked this option since it was an entry level price to the Kabuki knurl. However, they discontinued it when rebranding to Kabuki Power. The end caps rattle, and the sleeve tolerances are large for a circlip design, but I often grab it for the knurling.
@BasementBrandon Yes, while the remaining inventory lasts. (I picked up a few barbells at the beginning of the rebranding.) On IG, I made a comment about no more Oregon bar, and they said they made the decision to discontinue it. I think Kabuki Power is sticking to premium only.
It's not a bad budget option, but I'd get the Philosophy Gym Olympic Barbell instead, that's basically the best value all-purpose barbell right now and it's about the same price.
Coop! Ya gotta do a review of the dialed motion ibex rack attach cable system. Looks sweet and I want to get it. Unless you already have, then shoot me the link.
koop, how do you afford all these awesome bars?? I cant afford anything over 30$ and the bar i have is really crappy, all i want is some good knurdling!!!
Can't see how this will sell when the bare OPB costs less and comes with free shipping. On the other hand, I'm usually wrong about this stuff, so they probably will sell out in a few days...
@BrimhallBarbellClub did a good quick review on the Oregon Power bar. I like benching and deadlifting with the Oregon Power bar, I put it in rotation on training days. Great review Coop 👍👍
Kabuki is a niche brand. My budget version of a powerbar would be boneyard rogue bars or Texas powerbar 29 on sale. I would pass on this Kabuki. I own the Kabuki gen power bar and it doesn't feel better than my rogue Ohio Powerbar or Texas powerbar 29 in terms of fit n finish.
Kabuki is a mess and in financial trouble. Their rebrand is due to an investor. They have dropped coaching service and never refunded money to people who paid for coaching up front. Don’t waste your money.
I’ve never heard of a kabuki snapping, however there enough people saying that the have quality issue that I wouldn’t buy a kabuki. The issues are inconsistent knurl, blemishes, altered appearance
My black oxide deadlift bar had blemishes, but the knurling is perfect and the bar does what I need it to (boost my fragile ego to get me near my 700lb goal without actually being stronger). 👍🏻
@@CraigularjJoeWoodworks absolutely not. lol. Just get a Texas bar. But I do love the bar and I don't regret it. I do wish I had gotten the nickel sleeves when they were still an option.
Man I love Kabuki and I love CD but how are you gonna charge $75 for shipping for a straight bar in 2024?! I held off on getting my transformer bar because I had to pay 70 dollars shipping…. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Wouldn't it be Sweet to see just one time Coop compare a Rogue anything to another companies anything and for him to say Rogue's is not the best. Just once, but it ain't happening. Coop is basically a Rogue commercial on almost every video, hey "Dance with the one that brung you, and you got to give it to him, he does very well. Ill bet 99.9% cant tell, I have had lots of powerlifters at my house and lift the with Texas and not one is like "why is this bar so narrow!"
@@ayloryabit's not about the width, it's about how much the bar bends and whips when pulling heavy
Coop!!! Do this!!! This is such a great idea. See if he can tell what bar is what blindfolded 😂

Kabuki just seems all over the place these days. I think this would need to be around $300 delivered to make sense to me.
Kabuki seems more focused on their high falutin branding/website than reducing customer lead times.

I wont spent a penny with Kabuki, despite loving their original powerbar. Owner is the biggest tool in the industry 🤷♂️
28.5mm is a pass. Call me a purist, but too much money not to get the one I want.
Also Coop, Texas power bar came out with a 29mm and it is AMAZING
Thanks for finally doing this review!!
I am looking for a powerbar, so a comparison review of them all would be amazingly informative.
