It's also funny how Kuma said that he'd "make a deal with the devil to cure his daughter" and now Saturn, a devil, is definitely going to alter that deal he has with Vegapunk
Dragon is a good leader and good friend to Kuma. Asking every doctor all around the world through his contacts was the best Dragon could do. Just imagine if Dragon had mentioned Vegapunk, Kuma as a desperate father might have gone to Punk Hazard with Bonney. Since Vegapunk is always busy the first thing Kuma might have heard when ringing the doorbell was "Shurororo don't worry i am good with children".
As well given this is around the time time the warlord system started, and Kuma was viewed as a pirate rather than a revolutionary at the time. Toss in the move leaving weaker security, Dragon probably felt this was the best time for Kuma to try it because he might be able to negotiate a more peaceful option, rather than be immediately shot at. Cause we do know that Kuma will be a Warlord by this end of this.
I used to dislike dragon for what he let Kuma go through but now I realize that Kuma wasn't even a revolutionary for long so dragon doesn't owe anything to him
I like to imagine smoker never actually took up smoking and he just lets out a little bit of his devil fruit smoke to make it look like he does to keep up appearances
For clarification: Ch 1099 starts 6 years ago and ends 4 years ago (2 years before the series' start). That's when the Punk Hazard incident happened. Also, it's the same year Ace got offered the Warlord title but declined it, so it's likely that spot went to Kuma instead. And I'm sure Kuma visited Amazon Lily after this chapter, which means he left with a good enough outlook on it to send Luffy there later. Think about it: Kuma is a former slave. Gloriosa may have reckognized him as the slave boy that saved hundreds of slaves in God Valley. Hancock, upon learning this, would respect Kuma a lot. Which may mean Hancock and Kuma departed in friendly terms. And it gives a whole new perspective on Hancock trashing Pacifistas left and right in Marineford, as well as how she will react about being cloned herself.
this is probably the flashback that covers more life of the character we've ever had (and probably will ever have), and I'm totally fine it is about Kuma
Before sending Luffy off, Kuma did have the brief moment of whispering with Rayleigh. I bet he asked Rayleigh where he should send luffy, so that he can train him and Rayleigh with his relationship with Amazon Lilly told him to send Luffy there.
It's true that Chapter 1099 of One Piece covers a significant period of time, spanning from six years before the series' start to four years before the start. This timeframe includes the Punk Hazard incident, Ace's rejection of the Warlord title, and Kuma's potential visit to Amazon Lily. Your insights about Kuma's past as a slave and his relationship with Gloriosa and Hancock are interesting. It's plausible that Kuma's connection to Amazon Lily and his interactions with Hancock influenced his decision to send Luffy there later. The potential connection between Kuma's past and Hancock's aversion to Pacifistas is also intriguing. It could explain her strong reaction to being cloned and her treatment of the Pacifistas during the Marineford War. And, the additional context provided by Chapter 1099 adds depth and complexity to Kuma's character and his relationships with other characters. It also adds a new dimension to Hancock's actions and motivations.
I actually trust Dragon MORE as the leader of a revolution because he doesn't just immediately go try to save one person or throw Kuma into a heavily monitored and guarded location instantly. It tells me that he's a calculated individual who is focused on the big picture of freeing the world from the Celestial Dragons permanently as opposed to risking everything protecting the people he personally likes. To note, this doesn't make me happy about what happened to Ginny, but I blame the perpetrators and the perpetrators alone. Besides, if we're aware of the risks for every single one of them (especially 1 year after Fisher Tiger already pulled that once, so security would be improved), the issue sadly doesn't change when it becomes personal.
@@parzavaal5335Haven't seen his new video yet (I got annoyed by the Raid will Fail stuff, so I don't watch as much), but more we just reached the same conclusion then. I had that thought instantly when people start badmouthing Dragon because I was like "Seriously? That's so illogical when you're the head of an entire operation that requires calculation." The man has done things like forming a mercenary group to gain funds, strategically helping those who are ready to rebel, and coming up with plans like cutting off food to the Holy Land. The guy is clearly a mastermind systematically weakening them, not someone who just passionately throws his fists around with the force that has a monopoly on power and hopes things turn out well. Attrition warfare is dumb. Maneuver warfare is what works best. There's a reason the Art of War is what's recommended for study when it comes to warfare.
I understand your perspective on Dragon's leadership style. His decision to prioritize the broader goal of overthrowing the Celestial Dragons over immediately rescuing individuals like Kuma or Ginny can be seen as a calculated and strategic approach. While it may not be the most compassionate approach, it aligns with the long-term objectives of the Revolutionary Army. It's important also to recognize that the risks associated with rescuing individuals from government custody are significant. The Celestial Dragons and the World Government have immense resources and influence, and they are not afraid to use force to protect their interests. As you mentioned, the incident with Fisher Tiger demonstrated the heightened security measures in place, making such rescue attempts even more challenging. In light of these risks, Dragon's decision to focus on the larger revolution can be seen as a necessary sacrifice. While it's heartbreaking to see individuals like Kuma and Ginny suffer, Dragon's actions are driven by a belief that the long-term liberation of the world will ultimately benefit everyone, including those who have been directly harmed by the Celestial Dragons and the World Government. Of course, this doesn't diminish the pain and suffering experienced by those who have been targeted by the World Government. The perpetrators of these acts are solely responsible for their actions, and their cruelty should never be excused or justified. And, Dragon's leadership style is a matter of perspective. Some may view his approach as cold and calculating, while others may see it as a necessary evil in the pursuit of a greater good. It's important to acknowledge the complexities of his decisions and the challenges he faces in leading a revolution against such a formidable adversary.
Dragon couldnt reach vegapunk because he was on punk hazard. After he moved to egghead there was opportunity to reach out again. Its also possible they specifically werent talking because the wg was listening in all the time and it wasnt until after this saturn incident that Vegapunk developed the secure calls for the revs and setup a direct line to dragon
I have an idea... What if Dragon is not telling everything he knows or the things straight away not to protect someone, but because he knows that he can be observed by an Elder Star at any point in time?
The reason Dragon didn't ask/recommend VP right away, is probably because vegapunk isn't a medical Dr. He's a scientist. But once there was seemingly no options left, Dragon realized VP is probably the only mad man alive who could figure out a cure.
No, Vegapunk is hard to get a hold of, the only reason why he saw a possiblity was because Vegapunk was on the move at that time, I mean if you stay with the canon, I like your idea too, would say a mix of both but manga only said what I said.
That logic dont apply to Vegapunk. In real life and in one piece, people forget knowlegde so we need to especialise in one thing. But Vegapunk dont have that limitation because his fruit allows him to have infinite knowlegde, since he never forgets anything. Chopper asked Vegapunk in the beginning of this arc if Vegapunk had medical knowlegde stored in Punk Hazard and he said yes. He also clone organs for transplant, etc, so he is definility a doctor because he can have all knowlegde of the world and never forgets anything.
Why people insist on telling me I'm wrong with a theory I'm suggesting., when I have no impact on the story and am just trying to have fun, is beyond me. Yall need to get a life. If you think that's the reason , make your own comment. Let me have my fun and learn to not be know it all jerks. No one likes people like you guys 🤷♂️
It’s worth noting that when Dragon told Kuma about Dr Vegapunk, he mentions that Vegapunk is being moved and is now far more accessible then he’d been since entering the government’s employment. Vegapunk was inaccessible before that, that’s why kuma didn’t go to him and Dragon didn’t say anything
I think Dragon withholding information is weird until you remember that he's the son of Garp and the father of Luffy. He may be the smartest member of the Monkey family but he's still related to them
What did he say? I find it hard to defend or like Dragon at this point based on what we have seen in the Manga. I'll list some points I hate his character for. 1. He doubted Sabos Character when the news said he killed Cobra. 2. He made no effort to help Ginny. 3. He made no effort to help Ivankov 4. He never found out about Im-sama until Sabo came back and revealed it. 5. He seems selfish like Garp. 6. Why would he put his organization above rescue missions yet he never reinstated an East Commander after Ginny? Isn't this Counter Productive? Now I can forgive most of this if he ends up being just a Strategist type but omg if he turns out to be a heavy hitter like prime Garp then I really can't forgive him. In fact, if it turns out that he has a Devil Fruit that allows him to fly then he really fked up.
Whaat a character which at that time has a small organization, fighting the ENTIRE world govt, that said character don't : 1. Straight up going to government area to rescue one person, with the risk to kill more friend or all of them 2. Don't rescue their friend who got capture, when the entire organization is AGAINST the government, with the risk of getting capture 3. Don't fully trust their friend blindly like a fool when their entire organization is a fucking REVOLUTION who might has one or two government agent dragon don't feel like LUFFY who entire goal is to fulfill his friend dream, will kill the world government because one of their friend got enslave , DRAGON feel too realistic, not a happy go lucky leader, he sacrifice his friend for greater good, BAAD BAAD CHARACTER, too realistic, not childish, one piece bad, dragon bad, Luffy good, 👍
The Organization at the time had 4 divisions, Do you think it was 50 men? 100? LOL What number is small to you? Fisher Tiger did it by himself. Sabo did it with a small team. Are you saying Rescue missions are impossible? What does having the world government as an enemy have to do with mounting a rescue mission? They have always been enemies. So you claim they might have government agents in their revolution but the Mission to the Holy Land with Sabo was still successful. Did the Sabo mission cause the entire WG army to fight the Rev Army? You sound wack. All I'm saying is Dragon is Cold, Slightly incompetent and Selfish. Because someone dislikes a Character doesn't mean they hate One Piece. You are dumb for saying that. @@nagaijo7262
In Skypia, there are revealed to be 4 gods. Land/earth, Forest, Sun, and Rain. Luffy is the Sun God, I would bet Dragon is the Rain God because when he is first introduced a storm came out of nowhere and he saved Luffy with a huge gust of wind, Green Bull is the Forest God, and the unknown Earth God made the Red Line.
Correction: Devil Fruits in general do not have a Will of their own. Zoan fruits specifically do. That what the Elder said and what we’ve seen in the past (particularly with carnivorous Zoans). As Bonney’s fruit is a Paramecia, there is nothing in the series to indicate it has a will.
Jaguar d Saul has to be the man marked by flames. When kuzan freezes Saul on O'Hara, I believe he was thawed by the buster call leaving him terribly injured. I think Dragon knows him because they were both marines. Maybe Saul is the original sword member
Dragon knew Vegapunk was at punkhazard under surveillance. He could not have told Kuma to go see him. He did tell him to go see Vegapunk after the explosion on Punk Hazard where there was less security. Dragon did help Kuma and has proven to be a great leader.
Odds are good, I'd imagine, that Dragon did ask Vegapunk. He also knew he was unreachable and didn't want to give Kuma false hope. An act of kindness through omission seems very Dragon-like to me.
In Chapter 521 Boa states that they where fed the love-love and snake-snake fruit when they where slaves for the amusement of the world nobles, Though it is an interesting theory about the zoan fruits choosing their users but it can be as simple as that.
I never like this part of the plot after it was revealed that its an extremely strong or Important DF, I based this off of Black Beard going for it. I guess if the slaves sisters were always in seastone cuffs then it wouldn't matter but it just sounds kinda dumb when I think about it.
Bonney was the baby of a diseased 'wife', so they would have just thrown her out with her mother. They very likely would not have wasted a DF on her just for funsies, especially when they could use it on someone else for funsies instead. That and she had baths. Baths have been shown to weaken DF users, so they would have figured out she was carrying well before now.
@@ladybookworms LOL a reply to a comment from 6 months ago!! LOL so much has happened since then! I now meme on Saturn saying he is a man of Science. I do believe there must be someone competent on the Celestial side. If not, I would love how dumb they really are.
Such an enlightening video. Bonney's Distorted Future makes more sense, we got a hint of how special Kuma's blood may be, more info to suggest that Dragon may be the man with the burn scar, and the biggest of all, I now know how to pronounce progenitor.
Here's an add on for the whole devil fruits have wills of their own. If they have wills of their own and find people who fit with their desires to eat them. Perhaps the only time someone eats two devil fruits is because they are willing to betray their own dreams for more power in the first place. Like the most likely people to eat multiple devil fruits, would be someone like a Don Flamingo or Belamy, but the only reason they don't is because they know it wouldn't work. Perhaps this is why Black Beard is able to do so because he's yet to betray his dreams and desires, but is working within them. It would also explain why people like Big Mom, Luffy, and Bonney are still alive, the fruit just naturally stays away from them.
I do like the idea of Dragon being the “man marked by flames” and that is not an actual tattoo but a “brand” burned onto his face by the CD’s and the reason he is the most wanted man isn’t because he is head of the RA but for a crime he committed against the CD’s
Not likely. Not only because law and kidd would have pumped luffy for all the info he had on his father if it was dragon, but dragon's face is widespread and been in the newspaper many times - he has a bounty and we've seen it in the newspaper before. People would recognise him as Dragon before they even think about him having been marked by flames, and they'd see his face marks as tatts before burns. For someone to be called "the man marked by flames" they need to fit a few basic criteria: - their name unknown so that this is the only moniker they are known by and referred to - prominent burns or flame marks that aren't hidden - not known by another name that is more prominent
I feel like Vegapunk was the last on dragons list because he knew how difficult it was to get in touch with him, amd thats why he waited to tell Kuma. Like why would you hope and wait to hear from him when you have 100's of other to talk too. And my theory is after helping Kuma, Vegapunk decides to help out the revolutionaies behind the governments back and thats what slowly builds the partnership between him and Dragon.
I think we missed a small detail in chapter 1099, regarding Vegapunk’s method of healing Bonnie. He mentioned using a stem-cell transplant. Perhaps Kuma’s buccaneer blood could have great healing or regeneration powers, hence why he was able to withstand taking on the pain and suffering with his power. It could also explain when Bonnie aged herself chapters ago where she increased in body size and strength, perhaps she merged with Kuma’s buccaneer dna from the transplant.
It was my understanding that Devil Fruits are "born" from the Will and Dreams of someone that has already died, so a single person can't both create the concept of the fruit's power and then manifest the fruit to eat it.
She had to stay inside because of her disease. In order for her to have gotten the fruit either someone brought the devil fruit inside with the regular fruits or the devil fruit reincarnated into one of the fruits ready inside the church.
Here's the absolute darkest, most demented it could get (I don't think Oda would go this far): the unnamed Celestial Dragon wants to continue "using" Ginny but is put off by her Sapphire Scale-diseased body. So he feeds a baby Bonney the Age-Age fruit intending to have her age up to someone who looks just like Ginny, but without disease, so he can continue "using" a Ginny look-alike. This finally pushes Ginny to attempt her escape from Mariejois in a last-ditch effort to spare her daughter this disgusting fate. It made me cringe just writing this out, so again, I doubt this is the actual truth.
Yeah I agree, the devil fruit might sense Bonney's desire to reach the age she will be cured and the fruit somehow ended up in Sorbet Kingdom. It would be too ridiculous even for One Piece if Bonny magically produced toshi toshi no mi out of sheer intense thinking about it.
I was rewatching the paramount war arc again. When they were showing the rookies. There was a scene with Bonnie crying and saying idiot. Which I guess it could have been for Kuma instead of Luffy now.
Watching this a thought popped into my mind. How the hell did caesar control where the devil fruit would "respawn" when he fed it to the slime back in punk hazard? It was part of his plan obviously.
If the devil fruits have a will of their own and chooses their user, doesn’t this make Blackbeard’s df a lot more sinister since it involved murdering someone?
I’ve been rewatching thriller bark recently just because my wife is going through the show for the first time. While thriller bark wasn’t one of my favorite arcs I can appreciate it a whole lot more after egghead. Kuma had to have known since Thriller Bark that Luffy was Nika. Kuma’s affiliation with vegapunk would have taught him the gomu no mi was a front. Kuma wanted to assist in the return of Nika/Joyboy. That’s why he sent the crew away at shabody and why he protected the Sunny. Kuma is secretly a bigger fan of Luffy than Barto lmao.
What if Kuma used his Devil Fruit to push his Humanity out of him rather than him being made fully mechanical as why he’s just an automaton at this point. Rather then it being because of Vegapunk, Kuma might’ve done it because he knew it’d return to him when the time was right.
Dragon even said in the damn chapter he couldn't recommend sending Kuma to Vegapunk because he was on Punk Hazzard which was so heavily guarded it would have basically been useless information at best,or a suicide suggestion at worse. When he learned Vegapunk had moved and guard was lighter (most likely) and that Kuma was still hunting a cure, he immediately gave him the information, said why he didn't before and suggested Kuma haul ass. I am getting so annoyed with people not understanding Dragon
But in Luffy's case, doesn't that mean there's technically no such thing as Gomu Gomu no Mi so far? Like, wasn't that just a nickname based on its properties, and not the official name of the fruit in the first place? If he's doing the same thing with Bonnie, should have a ridiculously overpowered devil fruit awakening too. Since she can affect the age of a target, she could turn anyone to dust or a zygote in an instant if she awakens her devil fruit. If she develops powerful Haki, she could also make herself biologically immortal. Like, imagine if she could be as powerful as Shanks some day, then make herself 25 forever. As long as she isn't disabled, poisoned, or sick, she'd essentially be unstoppable so long as she isn't killed before reaching a high level of power. Her athletic ability would always be optimal - that's on top of the wisdom, education, experience, and mental maturity she'd have from living for so long. Just think about what she could do with that and the long staff, or halberd, and a pistol. It's a really interesting thought. She doesn't need to touch her target herself, she can project her ability through weapons, everything we've seen already occurred without a devil fruit awakening, she's already really powerful at only 12, she's a skilled fighter with heightened senses, she's perfect for subterfuge, age isn't a limiting factor for her combat ability, her power affects inanimate objects as well, she's clever, and her use of her ability is incredibly difficult to predict. If she learns to use Haki, she'd be ridiculously overpowered. She'd be overpowered even if Oda didn't give her Conqueror's Haki. If she had Observation Haki, she could use that to avoid Conqueror flares altogether, then fire off her ability at where her opponent will be next. When we really think about it, she actually has the potential to be the strongest overall. And if she isn't killed, the strongest literally forever.
if a devil fruit literally contains a soul, it can (or maybe even will) have a will on it´s own - at least to some degree. and maybe it´s almost like fate that (at least some) people and devil fruits find each other. the stronger your willpower and your dedication, the more likely might it be for you to get "approval" from a stronger and more powerful devil fruit. in the end, most of it turns out to be nothing more than coincidence and sheer fricking luck. but thanks to the allmighty plot-armor there might be at least some instances of fruits and users literally finding each other. and who knows... maybe Luffy was the first / the only one to ever unlock the true full potential of his own devil fruit - and so might others do as well with their own fruits. but we will never know.
There is too much conjecture here. There is just WAY too much we don’t know such as: > We don’t know how 99% of DF users obtained their fruits be they finding or buying them. When entire crews have themed fruits like the Big Mom Pirates it’s much more likely she just buys food based fruits rather than it all being coincidental. > Only Zoans are confirmed to have a will of their own. Not Paramecia or logias. > Having willpower and being able to act on it are not the same. > Willpower is a concept and straight up unquantifiable.
People forget that up to the recent Reverie, Dragon was not at war with the world government. Yes, the world government hated him and he hated them, but Dragon only began petit revolutions in kingdoms in disarray. He didn't have the forces to face the world government forces in any way. Until now. After a decade of fighting smaller wars, his invasion of Marijoa was the official declaration of war against the world nobles and their forces.
My thing with Dragon is figuring out what Oda is referencing with his name. Monkey D Luffy is clearly, especially once his DF reveal happens, a Monkey King homage. I feel like Dragon is early enough/important enough in Oda's storytelling process that he was also likely based on something but Dragon and vortexes and black ships only gets me maybe Charybdis/Scylla? An Argonauts reference would be apropos to the story, especially with the Elders lining up in a limited way with the antagonistic old greek/roman gods.
I've heard that he's referencing one of the four guardian beasts of the cardinal directions in theories. Also, his marks aren't burny enough to be called "marked by flames" especially when everyone and their mother has seen his face in the newspaper and know him as Dragon. No-one would refer to him by such a dumb moniker if they can just call him by his very well known name instead. Especially not Law and Kidd who had _dragon's son_ right there with them to ask about him.
Actually the whole devil fruit finding the perfect users kinda also explains while no one ever eats a second devil fruit by accident. The second fruits like "Ah, occupied. I'll be on my way then." and just rolls out.
One of my picks for The Man Marked by Flames would be Scopper Gaban. I feel like if Rayleigh, Roger’s right hand had such a big presence and impact on the story, it only makes sense that Gaban should too. Rayleigh’s already had involvement in the story and the pre and post-timeskips are mirroring each other. Gaban also makes sense as the Man marked by Flames if you ascribe to the theory that the egg on the Oro Jackson holds Uranus. Because we don’t know where the Oro Jackson is now. But if Gaban is the Man Marked by Flames, then the Oro Jackson could very well be the ship he is sailing, just charred or painted black to disguise it. Because what ship would be more recognizable than the Oro Jackson, the ship of the King of the Pirates?
Scopper is a much better pick than Dragon, the man who has his face in the newspapers every other week and is known far and wide by the name... Dragon. I'd think the man marked by flames would be visibly burned badly enough to be called that (not got a few sick face tatts). Especially as all anyone refers to him as is 'mr marked by flames' - those burns have to be in your face and his name is not known as anything else. Also, Law and Kidd could have just called him Dragon if it was him, since, well, Luffy's his son and they could pump him for info (or assume they could) on how to find him or whatever, instead of beating around the bush and being all "ooh, marked by flames guy~" It makes no sense when you think about it beyond "he has black ship and powers".
@@7thlittleleopard7if it's a revolutionary it would definitely be Sabo not dragon I mean Sabo has a very in your face burn mark from the celestials sinking his ship as a child
@@RustyNips Yeah, Sabo would be more likely when it comes to the descriptor, but again, he's really well known now, and Law met the guy on Dressrosa, so he'd call him by name. I think it's likely someone we haven't met yet or have met only through reference. Could be someone deliberately picked a black ship to throw suspicion on to the Revolutionaries and Dragon in order to hide themselves better, especially if they have a fruit that can mimic Dragon's powers. That'd be a hell of a way to hide.
What if as a final act, Kuma extracts all of his pain that he's experienced over the course of his life (which is by far the most anyones ever felt in the series) and threw it at Saturn
That comic panel where Kuma is getting insulted by gecko Moria, and getting called a dog of the government, is that Kuma really tightly gripping in his fist and anger?
As I said in another video, I like to think that Bonney was holding a regular fruit, and was just about to eat it when suddenly it turned into a Devil Fruit as the previous user died.
I'ma put you on pause on that "Devil fruits have wills" thing because that's only partially true. ZOAN fruits have wills of their own, but there's no mention anywhere else that paramecia or logia types do also, and all you're really going on at that point is the 5 elders saying "Zoan fruits contain a will of their own". Oda purposefully left out the other two fruit types likely because they don't have wills. I might also note that Buggy contradicts your theory that everyone gets a fruit in tune with their goals because, as you may recall, Buggy's desire was for all treasure both on land AND sea, and he actively resents eating said fruit because it barred him from getting the treasure of the sea. As for Luffy's named fruit, the whole purpose of it being called "gum-gum" was on part of the world government. AKA Luffy was always a zoan type user, but it didn't come off that way for so long because 1: it has paramecia-like qualities, and 2: only the tippy-top of the WG actually knew that secret in the first place.
The thing I'm most confused about is why Kuma's power can't separate the concept of Bonney's disease from her body. Sure, it would need to go somewhere, but it could go into the body of something that was dying anyway. Maybe Kuma can only take away what will always be part of you, like pain or memory. Or maybe the bubbles only work on aspects of the mind?
Maybe it can't remove physical components of a body. Like, it couldn't pull a heart out or blood cells, for example - so while he could remove any pain or non-physical symptoms of it, he couldn't remove the actual disease. there's a reason the old folks kept coming back - he couldn't remove the actual issues causing them pain, just the pain and side effects.
Bonney is the most op being in One piece She has insane stamina to stay in adult form for years As its something she must do willingly Her stamina is near bottomless As her base form is 12 years old Yet she constantly is in adult form using stamina All df abilities take stamina But doing something like bonney constantly being adult form 24/7 for years is crazy
I think dragon's face tattoo isn't the burn marks we're looking for, I think they're underneath his cloak all over his body, from none other than Akainu himself. Also if Dragon can create whirlpools; What are the chances he created the whirlpool that caused Luffy to get sent on his journey, since he was in East Blue at the time? I'm sure Oda has that tucked in his pocket if he decides that's the case. It definitely lines up, but I guess we'll see.
So you think the man that Law and Kidd know as "marked by flames" is Dragon, Luffy's father, who they could have just called Dragon to Luffy's face, being that he's the man's son? And that he's KNOWN as being 'marked by flames' by all and sundry (who obviously missed the bounty posters and printing of his face in the newspaper every time he does shit) because of some scars he may have that no-one can see to recognise him by? Nah, Dragon is too well-known to be some nameless guy who is only known as "dude marked by flames". If the only thing people can call him is 'marked by flames', then it's bound to be very apparent that the guy was, you know, _marked by flames_ - that is, he's either not bothering to hide the burns or they're very easy to notice.
@@7thlittleleopard7 "Man marked by flames" is a description not an epithet like "blackleg" or "pirate hunter" The guy they talk about is basicly part of a modern myth in the op-world no one knows who he is except for the Flame markings and whirpoools And also lafitte did not meet him Kid and Killer on the other hand gave the impression they met them before and they probably should know dragon But to your point: maybe they did not say its dragon to keep the info from luffy specifficaly...
@@Ic3dsoul If Kid wanted to withhold info he’d just make a point that he knows and he’s not telling Luffy and hold it over his head. The most likely candidate atm is Saul as the evidence for it being Dragon is a colossal reach which requires a degree of convolution in its reveal that One Piece is not known for.
The anime and manga heavily implies that Law and Robin either knows who the burn scar is or they are about to meet them in the near future, i can see ppl taking robins expression for burn scar fellow being dragon but i dont see Law knowing Dragon personally already or cant picture law and bepo being at sea in the new world and ending up on near marijois or okamabakka queendom in paradise to run into dragon
Did they actually say they know who it is directly, or did they only mention him as "the man marked by flames", because they're aware of the rumors? That's a big difference. It's just hard to ignore the fact he has a Black Boat, and presumably can create whirlpools as he has some form of weather based devil-fruit. On top of this information, his face tattoo is presumably representing the 4 Road Poneglyphs. If you're looking for a reason that he is able to do this, and not be known as dragon. It's because nobody can get near the boat to confirm it, and also nobody in his circle would ever betray his indentity. He also regularly keeps secrets from his own members of the revolutionary army. Or rather to not mis-speak, he just doesn't tell them unless they ask. This is evident by many conversations shown between him and Ivankov. Hope this helps to clarify anything for anyone. If it's not at least Dragon, maybe we can assume it's someone who regularly travels on his boat? Also none of this could matter, it could just be a randomly inserted new powerhouse from nowhere. We'll just have to wait. @@7thlittleleopard7
I truly find it hilarious that Kid and Killer had a hunch on who the man marked by flame would be and didn’t tell Law or Luffy and proceeded to get bodied by shanks.
Man I really feel for Kuma, to the point that my current head-cannon is that the Cyborg Kuma isnt the real one. And that the real Kuma is the one that they contacted at the start of Egghead. I just want him to be happy 😔
to @GrandLineReview Just theory, Dragon being red herring makes just more like foreshadowing something bigger. They just had black ships and marks on body AND similar powers. For example, what if the man got, lets call it Uzu Uzu no Mi (Vortex Vortex Fruit) that allows him to create vortexes but on enything, it could be vortex of air, water, earth or even vortex someones body or his own akin to Buffalo from Doflamingo crew. It would not be the first time when we got introduces to fruit with similar power but different approach or even superior versions like smoke fruit to gas fruit. PS: It could be great homage to that creepy yet intriguing manga called Uzumaki and make user of this power one of most mysterious and important persons in the world would be pretty Oda style. Heck, even Luffy might got too close to that man ship without even realizing it and got swallowed in the fist chapter :D
Hi GLR’s Liam I have a question for you, would brook have been able to eat a second fruit while he was alive and when he got his body back would he have his second fruit still? 🍇
Everyone seem to have the perfect devil fruits because Oda is such an amazing and creative character designer and writer that it just makes sense. It's crazy how he make up the perfect power and personality combinations over and over, year after year, decade after decade.
I really hope it turns out that the reason Dragon didn't tell Kuma about Vegapunk or Robin about the Poneglyph is that he's JUST as dumb as Luffy and Garp but he's just calmer than them. Like deadass imagine the Strawhats going to him and Robin asking "Why didn't you mention the Poneglyph when I was here?" and he just goes "... oh shit that would have been a good idea."
Ace and his second in command deuce did that actually. ace bit a fraction of a second earlier so he got the powers and deuce just got to eat a disgusting fruit.
Vegapunk could be evil, Cause Kuma didnt know Saturn was listening when he was talking to Kuma. And Kuma said he was willing to deal a deal with the Devil when he was talking to Vegapunk
I think any fruit might be drawn by the desire of potential users once they have to spawn in the world again. but a zoan like Nika might have the will to avoid users like the government
Wouldn't Dragon potentially want to keep the relationship with Vegapunk secret unless absolutely necessary? He is a tactician after all. So he actually sees with all the best doctors in the world and eventually realizes that Vegapunk is literally the only option. I could see Dragon actually not wanting Vegapunk to get his hands on Kuma. It's hinted that Dragon is in some ways distrustful of him.
I think that the man marked by the flames is definitely dragon and this flame is somehow related to Akainu so potentially we could see Dragon/Akainu reunion or Akainu changing his sides against World government
Not likely because people would kill Luffys dad in a heartbeat, so it still think its somebody else like Saul since he has ice burns from Kuzan's devil fruit power that froze Saul at the time.
I don't think it's Dragon but Saul who holds the poneglyph. My theory is that Dragon went to Ohara to help and picked up a frozen Saul since Aokijis attack was an ice time capsule. Since Sauls a giant he would look big on Dragons ship he would be the first one others would see then can be interpreted as it being Sauls ship versus Dragons.
It was impossible to get to Vegapunk before now because he was working with the marines and under heavy guard on Punk Hazard. They specifically make a mention of there not being as much security on EggHead since it’s a new base. It Vegapunk on PH was easily accessible, they would have just went there all along.
I reckon Dragon is the man marked by flames because he likely knew Akainu in the Marines, and Akainu seems like the kinda guy to take falling out quite personally 🤜🔥🌋
The difference between Oda calling the nika fruit the gomu gomu no mi is that the lore in one piece called it the gomu fruit. So if they hid the name of the age fruit it would be the same but otherwise no
In this chapter, Dragon mentions to Kuma about the Punk Hazard explosion, and that security around Vegapunk is probably lighter at this point, given the hassle of moving his lab. Note that Kuma and Bonney meet Vegapunk not on Punk Hazard, but on Marine Science Base 8. Likely, he didn't mention Vegapunk earlier because, until that point, the security around him was likely too thick to get through.
2 things. Bonnie's fruit isn't a Zoan. Only Zoan devil fruits have shown to have a will of their own. & Bonnie couldn't have manifested the devil fruit, because Stella already told us that the, 'manifestation', aspect of it takes place in an other dimension.
Oh wow, you saw my comment! That's so wonderful! But I'm going to say perhaps Dragon wasn't sure about Vegapunk at the time. He and VP had just had an argument and VP is working for the government. It's very risky. Dragon is very methodical, he only does things with a plan, he's very different from his father or his son in that regard. But he also has to do a lot more that either of them as well considering he is leading a worldwide army at this point.
There is the whole weight of a soul business that was brought up off handedly a while back. I think when the Kuma balloon of memories pops it would be neat if all the pacifistas weighed a little bit more.
The man with the burn scars is a survivor of god vally my theory is he got out with the last poneglyf but he was really injured n could be the one eyed character we been waiting for
It would be a very neat parallel with Zou if Dragon was protecting someone either who has, or has knowledge of the final road poneglyph. Then the question becomes "who is Dragon protecting?" Maybe Rocks?
Anyone else notice how Kuma basically did what Luffy always does? Topples a corrupt system to help the people who were nice to him, before letting the original ruler take their rightful place after being unjustly cast out? Considering his dad's eye scar, Kuma has to be a D, right??
What I think would be interesting, would be that Devil Fruits can reincarnate while still in fruit form. Fruits do go rotten after all, maybe Devil Fruits just die slower. or maybe it was smushed or lost to the sea and reincarnated after that. As they manifest in fruit and also somehow with desire... perhaps the sea swallowed the last fruit, or the last fruit user, and then the desire for that specific fruit manifested into a sorbet-dwelling fruit.
I want to know how many birds and insects out there have devil fruit powers and no-one knows. Random sparrow with the power to control the earth itself, just building a nest and having babies. Some stork is unfathomably lucky when it looks for food because it has the luck luck fruit. A very confused eagle turns into a frog every few days. There's an immortal mosquito who ate the immortality fruit who continuously bugs this one guy every night and the man swears it's the same damn mozzie but has no idea just how true that is.
What is doing favors for Dragon is Mr Morj's video on how Dragon is misunderstood. He points in defense of Dragon are very well supported and make quite a lot of sense on how he's the only one so far shown to be capable to run a revolutionary army. It definitely changed my mind. Now I just hate Vegapunk, he knows exactly what was possible. Forget Saturn's interference, I'll just mention the Mother Flame. Doubt VP made that just for a fireworks show.
Thing with Kuma’s power he wouldn’t need precise coordinates to travel/explore himself. In the anime at least we saw Luffy in the paw bubble flying to Amazon Lilly. Kuma could just fly in the right direction when exploring and redirect himself down onto an island when he sees it. Afaik there’s nothing to say Kuma like people he sends flying can’t redirect midway.
I think the reason that Dragon didnt mention the poneglyph (if he does have it), is because Dragon knew that if Robin went back to Luffy, then Robin would inevitably bring Luffy to Dragon to get it. If Robin already seen the poneglyph, there would be no need to see Dragon.
That Dragon rant is without sense. He wouldn't risk the Revolution for 1 person, if he didn't try to get Morley, Iva and Inazuma from Impel Down, why would he risk the revolution for Ginny? I'm sure that the revolutionary army had guidelines not to try and save him if he got captured. Regarding Vegapunk, he shares the intel with Kuma because he feels that the security is more lax now that Vegapunk had to change locations. Dragon is very rational and therefore he decides to act if he feels he has strength enough to win. Although he saved Sabo in Goa he decided not to attack the celestial dragon because there was nothing to gain and a lot to lose.
It's also funny how Kuma said that he'd "make a deal with the devil to cure his daughter" and now Saturn, a devil, is definitely going to alter that deal he has with Vegapunk
damn
Dragon is a good leader and good friend to Kuma. Asking every doctor all around the world through his contacts was the best Dragon could do. Just imagine if Dragon had mentioned Vegapunk, Kuma as a desperate father might have gone to Punk Hazard with Bonney. Since Vegapunk is always busy the first thing Kuma might have heard when ringing the doorbell was "Shurororo don't worry i am good with children".
ofc yeah, tragady awaiting to happen imo, good thing it didn't
As well given this is around the time time the warlord system started, and Kuma was viewed as a pirate rather than a revolutionary at the time. Toss in the move leaving weaker security, Dragon probably felt this was the best time for Kuma to try it because he might be able to negotiate a more peaceful option, rather than be immediately shot at. Cause we do know that Kuma will be a Warlord by this end of this.
I used to dislike dragon for what he let Kuma go through but now I realize that Kuma wasn't even a revolutionary for long so dragon doesn't owe anything to him
So Blackbeard is a Buccaneer like Kuma😴🏴☠️
Doubt it Kuma wouldn't risk going to Amazon lily especially since how dangerous the calm belt is
It's true that Chapter 1099 of One Piece covers a significant period of time, spanning from six years before the series' start to four years before the start.

Someone watches Mr Morj 😏
THIS! Dragon is the leader of the revolutionaries, he ain't hanging around with a bunch of friends having the adventure of their lives.
@@parzavaal5335Haven't seen his new video yet (I got annoyed by the Raid will Fail stuff, so I don't watch as much), but more we just reached the same conclusion then. I had that thought instantly when people start badmouthing Dragon because I was like "Seriously? That's so illogical when you're the head of an entire operation that requires calculation."
The man has done things like forming a mercenary group to gain funds, strategically helping those who are ready to rebel, and coming up with plans like cutting off food to the Holy Land.
@@parzavaal5335you need to watch Morj to have this conclusion lol I don’t watch him at all and feel this way.
He planned and green lighted a mission to the Holy land.
@@Par-Blindspotthe above reason is why it take so much time and why he choose the raid in the mid of reviry
The artwork of Smoker having several cigars in his mouth is hilarious, I hope we see more of him soon and what he has been up to.
He may be the smartest member of the Monkey family but he's still related to them
I like how Morj explains Dragon's perspective, it actually makes this flashback give me more faith in Dragon instead of less
What did he say? I find it hard to defend or like Dragon at this point based on what we have seen in the Manga. I'll list some points I hate his character for.
1. He doubted Sabos Character when the news said he killed Cobra.
2. He made no effort to help Ginny.
3. He made no effort to help Ivankov
Whaat a character which at that time has a small organization, fighting the ENTIRE world govt, that said character don't :
1. Straight up going to government area to rescue one person, with the risk to kill more friend or all of them
2. Don't rescue their friend who got capture, when the entire organization is AGAINST the government, with the risk of getting capture
3. Don't fully trust their friend blindly like a fool when their entire organization is a fucking REVOLUTION who might has one or two government agent
dragon don't feel like LUFFY who entire goal is to fulfill his friend dream, will kill the world government because one of their friend got enslave ,
DRAGON feel too realistic, not a happy go lucky leader, he sacrifice his friend for greater good, BAAD BAAD CHARACTER, too realistic, not childish, one piece bad, dragon bad, Luffy good, 👍
The Organization at the time had 4 divisions, Do you think it was 50 men?
Dragon saying “winds of fate” is too good, that it just has to be true, he must have a wind based power
Gotta say i love the new animations your team has produced for these videos, props to your animators!
GLR: "Don't trust Dragon, he doesn't deliver."
Also GLR: "I'm sure if Dragon had a red blocky block, he'd have told Robin-chan."

For someone to be called "the man marked by flames" they need to fit a few basic criteria:
- their name unknown so that this is the only moniker they are known by and referred to
- prominent burns or flame marks that aren't hidden
- not known by another name that is more prominent
The humor delivery in dragon’s “naaah”s and “yeah, yeah you are a bad person” was top notch
So it's like eating their soul that didn't move on and instead became a fruit with their dream condensed in it?
@@Mantosasto that's how I imagined it. Devil Fruits contain a power that someone in the past wished they had.
Like a black trigger from world trigger
I really want to see how this adorable child Bonney magnificently found the age-age fruit randomly on a tree!
She couldn't leave the church due to her illness so someone else must have brought it in there for some reason
I thought the reason why Dragon didn’t tell Kuma about Vegapunk was because he was still a grudge against Vegapunk for joining the world government
Since we got the confirmation that he is alive, I just assumed that Jaguar D. Saul was the man marked by flames
Probably knew the fruit was an apple type and the whole island was a wasteland so the only available apple in a large radius would be on that basket.
The sorbet kingdom monarchy is experiencing some game of thrones shenanigans 😂😂😂😂
We also saw Dragon randomly making a little puff of wind with his hand, all but confirming he has some type of wind logia!
if a devil fruit literally contains a soul, it can (or maybe even will) have a will on it´s own - at least to some degree. and maybe it´s almost like fate that (at least some) people and devil fruits find each other. the stronger your willpower and your dedication, the more likely might it be for you to get "approval" from a stronger and more powerful devil fruit.
in the end, most of it turns out to be nothing more than coincidence and sheer fricking luck. but thanks to the allmighty plot-armor there might be at least some instances of fruits and users literally finding each other. and who knows... maybe Luffy was the first / the only one to ever unlock the true full potential of his own devil fruit - and so might others do as well with their own fruits. but we will never know.
There is too much conjecture here. There is just WAY too much we don’t know such as:
> We don’t know how 99% of DF users obtained their fruits be they finding or buying them.
Also, Law and Kidd could have just called him Dragon if it was him, since, well, Luffy's his son and they could pump him for info (or assume they could) on how to find him or whatever, instead of beating around the bush and being all "ooh, marked by flames guy~"
It makes no sense when you think about it beyond "he has black ship and powers".
I hope that Oda will reveal how did Blackbeard gain two Devil abilities and it's gonna be mind-blowing.
Imu has eaten the Human Human Fruit Model: Sea Devil. The Sun God vs The Sea Devil just makes sense.
Crocodile is such a good mother❤️
Dragon not doing anything is what he does best soo can imagine him being the one and not telling robin just like he didn’t tell kuma about vegapunk.
Bonney is the most op being in One piece
She has insane stamina to stay in adult form for years
As its something she must do willingly
Her stamina is near bottomless
As her base form is 12 years old
Yet she constantly is in adult form using stamina
All df abilities take stamina
But doing something like bonney constantly being adult form 24/7 for years is crazy
I sincerely hope Bonny got the fruit somewhere in Sorbet bc the implications of a CD having given this child the AGE AGE fruit makes me feel sick… 😢
@@7thlittleleopard7
"Man marked by flames" is a description not an epithet like "blackleg" or "pirate hunter"
The guy they talk about is basicly part of a modern myth in the op-world no one knows who he is except for the Flame markings and whirpoools
And also lafitte did not meet him
Kid and Killer on the other hand gave the impression they met them before and they probably should know dragon
But to your point: maybe they did not say its dragon to keep the info from luffy specifficaly...
@@Ic3dsoul
If Kid wanted to withhold info he’d just make a point that he knows and he’s not telling Luffy and hold it over his head.
It's just hard to ignore the fact he has a Black Boat, and presumably can create
whirlpools as he has some form of weather based devil-fruit.
@@7thlittleleopard7
keep the good content up
I love the animated segments in this one!
Wait, so the fruit did not cure her just slow her disease
It diddnt do anything
the fruit doesnt affect the disease
I edge to ur vids GrandLineReview 😄

I really hope it turns out that the reason Dragon didn't tell Kuma about Vegapunk or Robin about the Poneglyph is that he's JUST as dumb as Luffy and Garp but he's just calmer than them. Like deadass imagine the Strawhats going to him and Robin asking "Why didn't you mention the Poneglyph when I was here?" and he just goes "... oh shit that would have been a good idea."
What happens if a devil fruit is cut in half and 2 people eat one piece each 🤔🤔🤔
Maybe the first person to eat it gets the power unless they both eat simultaneously 🤨
the first one to swallow it get the powers
@@lightcpkhfm2305ace got his powers like that
Ace and his second in command deuce did that actually.
ace bit a fraction of a second earlier so he got the powers and deuce just got to eat a disgusting fruit.
Delusional to think Akainu would change sides, he's a dog to the government, hence in his name "inu", which in english is Red dog
I liked my own comment
It was impossible to get to Vegapunk before now because he was working with the marines and under heavy guard on Punk Hazard.
They specifically make a mention of there not being as much security on EggHead since it’s a new base.
It Vegapunk on PH was easily accessible, they would have just went there all along.
First
10:43 Love the panda man behind Saturn here.
Honestly I just thought Bonney snuck out of the church one night to explore the local forest and happened upon it.
&
Bonnie couldn't have manifested the devil fruit, because Stella already told us that the, 'manifestation', aspect of it takes place in an other dimension.
What is your take on Dragon having the 3 of diamonds tattoo? Ace being Spades , Law and the Heart pirates and Prof Clover the spades? 13:54
I like how Oda tells us ZOAN fruits have wills of their own, and what most fans heard was that ALL devil fruits have wills of their own… 🤷♂️
LOL Some people act as if they grow legs and can move after Oda said that as well LOLOLOL
There is the whole weight of a soul business that was brought up off handedly a while back.
I think when the Kuma balloon of memories pops it would be neat if all the pacifistas weighed a little bit more.
I also just realized that when the Strawhats find Bonney, she is a kid cause the sea nullifies her powers
I just thought that the distorted future Bonnie turned into was a future she trained up and became buff not a Buc
To be fair, Dragon is not a Doctor (as far as we know), and he might not think that ONLY Vegapunk can cure it.
Are we all forgetting to what happened to Bege when he entered the new world? I thought Shiki took his ship and there has been no explanation till now
