I don't have a problem with Bonney becoming a new SH. However, I have a strong feeling that she will most likely join the Revolutionary Army to honor her parents' memories.
Ok, but even if she does, nothing says she still can't go with the Straw Hats for the rest of the journey. Again, maybe filling in the Apprentice role on the crew. I mean, Shanks and Buggy weren't "proper" Roger Pirates (as they were only apprentices, too), yet still travelled with them (up until Laugh Tale, when both stayed behind, so neither one got to see where Laugh Take is or what the One Piece is). Bonney could be the same thing. She could declare she wants to join the Revolutionary Army, but still decide to remain with Luffy and the Straw Hats for the rest of the journey.
I thought of that parallel as well. Have a kid in the crew like Roger did. And the fact that she is as strong as she is helps Oda not have to hide her for every confrontation.@@vgmaster02

I agree, I also think in general adding her to the crew would kinda be weird for power dynamics since now she's essentially the second strongest due to her abilities (albeit a child), and has an ability that's beyond broken for just assisting and general usefulness.
I think if she joined Oda would have to have a lot of excuses on hand as to why she can't do specific things at specific moments. It's a whole lot more convenient to just say she went off and joined the Revolutionary Army
After Carrot and Yamato both turned out to be multiple-year-long fakeouts from Oda, I don’t see any reason to believe that Bonney is suddenly being fast-tracked to Straw Hat status.
Bonney makes more sense than those two and has a direct role in the ships dynamic... something that isn't so obvious with the other two .. plus her connection with the celestial dragons
Carrot was 100% better set up with the ship dynamics and could of held a proper position on the ship. If you ignored all the time and things she did with the crew then you're just wearing blinders. From what I've been reading, Bonney could fit with the Straw Hats, sure, but I feel like it might be better for her and perhaps Vegapunk, Sentamaru and maybe Kizaru instead joining the Revolutionary Army.

I was originally against the Bonney as a Straw Hat idea, but the more and more I see of her backstory I've come around. I think she'd be a fun final member and fits into the crew dynamic in a way we don't quite have yet.
Amazon lilly is like the one island where everyone on it knew Haki, and the biggest drawback for luffy pre-timeskip was he didn't have haki.

Yeah this is clearly the answer. Kuma probably figured luffy was strong enough and innocent enough to survive there and knew that whoever he interacted with they would know haki. The idea was that they could potentially teach him haki but ace's imprisonment changed that

The „thought bubbles“ mean thinking or whispering depending on circumstance. I believe it is a standard manga/comic thing. Makes much more sense than a granny and fisherman being telepaths.
for example in Garfield the non human characters communicate via „thought bubbles“. I heavily doubt that all dogs and cats and other animals are telepathic there.

I think you may be overlooking the "thought bubbles", that usually implies whispering if they are having a conversation. It would be weird if there was suddenly telepathy among random characters.
I mean it would fit with the story there’s been plenty of times when characters would be thinking and the person there either thinking to or about will say something that oddly follows whatever the other person was thinking

It is clearly a whisper bubble in one piece. the video even shows a real thought bubble - when Hancock misunderstands Luffy, her thoughts are represented by the radiating lines bubble.

How could a girl isolated from the outside world most of her life, desperate to explore it and inspired by stories of the advent of Nika/Joy Boy not end up joining the Straw Hats after learning about Luffy? Again?
It would be interesting is the reason why Yamato did not join is because Oda thought it's gonna be too similar to Bonney, whom he wants to bring to the crew

This is a very common thing for manga where authors use the thinking bubble to represent whispering so its not just one piece

The thought bubbles aren't telepathy. Oda used the same bubbles when Kuma asked the doctor to don't speak to loud in fear of Bonney hearing them

i always thought that ruffy was sent to amazon lily because the amazons all use haki quite naturally and since kuma fought him, he knew he doesnt know how to use it yet and gave him a way to get stronger

I think we're overthinking the distorted future fruit thing. It feels like it is just a fruit where she adjusted part of her body vs normally powers which changes her entire body's age.

I doubt its that she can copy fruit powers, but that she used the properties of Nikas body itself. Maybe she could grow fishman teeth or sprout a lunarian flame or something for the sake of an attack
I believe the reason for bonneys gum gum punch in the last chapter is luffy himself. I mean: she accesses a future in which she has nika powers. they do not need to come from her. all that needs to happen for this is that luffy gets his G5 under control. since he already proved being able to affect others with his cartoon thingy, why not give others his powers as well? and if bonney somehow, sometime is one of those benefitting from this, there is a nika-bonney in the future. easy.
remember that in the devil fruit encyclopedia, it was stated that Luffy's devil fruit as Gomu-Gomu no mi. So if Gomu-Gomu no mi is described as rubbery then others won't think much about the relation to Nika. As we know that a lot of fruit have similar ability with other fruit. Unless Kuma told Bonney about the appearance of Nika then she might be able to put it together.

I imagined Bonnies power to be -ish. What I mean is that she can access futures where she is like something. but not that thing literally. She could access "Vegapunkish future", a timeline where she is as much "like Vegapunk" as possible. Similarly, she accessed a timeline where she is "NIkaish", or as much "Nika like" as possible, but not literally Nika. She can approach almost any kind of potential timeline, but she can never be that thing exactly.
I want Bonney to join. SHe no longer has a Crew of her own, she fits in so well with the Straw Hats, she wishes to meet Nika, and even if she doesn't have a dream perse other then rescuing her father which might be done soon, she could still be a part of the crew.

The crew already has a member from each of the major groups having joined up with them, with three exceptions. Robin is a revolutionary, Nami was a pirate hating civilian, Chopper is a Grand Line native, Franky a legendary shipwright, Sanji a nation noble, Zoro a bounty hunter, Jimbei a warlord of the sea, and Brook an old veteran pirate. We are missing a Supernova (and while Luffy and Zoro are technically Supernovas, they became Supernovas while part of the crew) a Yonko (which isn't going to happen), and a marine (Which would be awesome but is never going to happen). Combine that info with Bonney's dream and it only makes sense that she join the crew from a meta point of view, especially because the crew represents the wants and needs of Bonney

Nah, she’s gonna join the revolutionary army. She’s more of a spy type that is very helpful for that and it fits well. She can blend in anywhere due to the age change

I think Robin needed a proper introduction to the revolutionary army, otherwise she wouldn't have trusted them. Seeing them in action. Saving people was exactly the thing she needed to realize that they were really good guys

After this backstory I think Bonney is a strong candidate to join the Straw Hats.
Bonney fits the last role requirement, I can see her be a squire like Shanks was for Roger, she's also not stupidly overpowered in a way that'll overshadow the big 3 like Katakuri and Yamato would have.
Maybe Kuma was able to draw from what he knew about Jinny and Bonny to deduce that Luffy was the type of person that Hancock would be attracted to, sort of like he went out of his way to hook them up cause he thought they'd be a good match.
Bonney has multiple options for where she can go to.
She can stay with Vegapunk and the rest of her newfound family of Sentomaru, Borsalino, and possibly even a restored Kuma!
She can fill the role(s) left vacant by her parents Ginny and Kuma on the Revolutionary Army. Also surely pretty much nobody in the entire world hates the Celestial Dragons more than Bonney does. Bringing them down is the goal of the Revolutionary Army, not the goal of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Everyone ignores poor old Gyogyo and the rest of the Bonney Pirates, the people who raised her all her life alongside Kuma and the rest of the Sorbet Kingdom southern elders.
Yeah, I don't think she's leaving Luffy's side. The Straw Hats are Kuma's hope. The way Luffy responded to Bonney complimenting Sanji implies she had been fangirling the Straw Hats since she exited the bubble and finished crying. She has a strong attraction to the Straw Hats.
In the aftermath of Egghead there will be a happy reunion, but Kuma will want to help the Revs after all the trouble he caused them, and he won't want to take Bonney with him after what happened to Ginny. Bonney will understand having felt his trauma personally. She won't return to Sorbet because the Marines would cause trouble for the people with a wanted pirate on the island. Really, the best place for Bonney is with the Straw Hats.

Egghead is turning out to be another Drum Island or Syrup Village style arc where Luffy saves someone and they become nakama, with the narrative beats of the arc serving to flesh out that Nakama's backstory and character.
@@derrickmiles5240 you make some sensible points but I don't think it'll go that way. Kuma promised bonny they'd sail the world and I think that will be the main priority of kuma and bonny. I think they will stay together no matter what. They might go with the RA, the straw hats, or they might go with VP, who will probably go wherever his labosphere goes. I doubt they'll be members of the sh;s because in the early chapters of the story luffy said he wanted 10 crew members and he has that now (counting vivi, who i think will seek out the straw hats). I don't think they will be absent from the narrative, wherever they go. I think they will play a large role in the ending.
Two things that all starwhats have in common is one, Luffy liberated them from their current state and two their dreams are connected with them sailing with Luffy. How does Bonny fit in these two connections
He is the sun god that she and her father dreamed about
Hes nika and her dream is to meet nika
she gets liberated of the gorosei, her number 1 enemy and she wants to be with the sun god, she praises him so yes she does have some connections

I think it’s also really important to point out the fact that now that we know her crew was just a bunch of fishermen that could just go back to Sorbet
I think that Bonney viewing Kuma"s memories WAS the flashback, but only for the part where it was just about Kuma. Since Oda likes us so much, he decided to segue it right into Bonney"s flashback to make both of them more convenient. Or maybe, since Bonney is so close to Kuma, she experienced some of her own memories with Kuma's in order for her mind to make more sense of kuma's memories. I doubt it was because Kuma's power made her do it, but more likely since she would know when each memory is happening (Kuma kept track of what day it was, so she would know too), and could likely remember where she was at the time.

I don't see how Bonney does not join the crew at this point. The first thing to know is there is a Strawhat application that has to get filled out before membership which is pretty hard to fill out all slots hence why very few people join the crew.
1. Dream - to see the islands her father listed.
2. Role - Espionage
3. Unique Fighting Style - Devil Fruit
4. Gag - she is more of a glutton than even Luffy
5. Does Luffy use her real name? - yes
6. Does she have a sad backstory? - yes
7. Is she weaker than Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji? - yes
Outside of a complete Strawhat application, she has good reason to join. Her father has been hyping up Nika ever since she was born as a great hero and savior. Bonney' crew has already been obliterated two years ago which is why she has been on the run all by herself. She gets along with Luffy very well. A lot of those islands Kuma mentioned were islands the Strawhats have already been to and most likely will go back to and I would imagine there are more that the crew will experience the same time as her. Lastly if she joins the crew she can finally let her guard down and revert back her body to her 12 year old self instead of carrying the facade of a grown woman because she can't trust people. And lastly and the most silly reason, with Sanji as the chef Bonney will be in pure heaven with his cooking skills and it will expand her pallet as he will get her to learn to enjoy other foods than just eating pizza all day.

Regarding Kuma's choice of where to slap the straw hats, I think we have to take into account the battle of wills that was taking place here. Kuma wasn't necessarily fully in control of where he chose but had enough control to get them sort of to the right place.

Luffy does owe Kuma for saving his crew and getting them all to places to grow. Luffy would probably take her along since he said once Tama could defend herself, she could come along.

The only thing I can think of that would prolong the flashback is if we went in to what happened to Bonney as a pirate, specifically around the time she was captured by blackbeard and turned in to Akainu. It feels like there should be a reason why Oda has her captured again temporarily that we should learn about
We know that Luffy’s crew is supposed to mirror Rogers so how fitting would it be that Shanks who is most likely the son of a celestial dragon got adopted by Roger, now Luffy will adopt Bonney, the daughter of a celestial dragon.

Al Bonney did with her final punch was IMAGINING how Nika COULD HAVE fought, after learning about his "rubber-like body". This can't have been that hard to understand, now can it?
Also, at that point in the story, there is no way that she even remotely could have heard about a certain other rubber boy in this story.

A possible answer to the Amazon Lily question: Maybe Kuma knew that it was a place that Rayleigh could freely go to, but the Marines couldn’t. He could have intended to set up the training that did eventually happen with Luffy and Rayleigh.

Luffy got sent to Amazon Lily because he needed to learn about haki and they all use it for everyday life
13:30 remember that in Amazon lily nearly everyone knows haki so It could be a good chance to train it. Maybe by being taught or just fighting against other haki users to strenghten his own.
Another point for Bonney becoming a Straw hat is that Luffy actually calls her by her real name. She's one of the VERY few people he does that for! I know there's an embarrassing story about why he calls her her real name, but I still believe it's significant. SO significant in fact that Oda himself even decided to address it in an SBS!
Also, she no longer has a crew of her own... I mean though I could go on and on but you get it. I honestly never thought they would actually get an 11th member, BUT if anybody is going to fill that role, Bonney is the first person that can/would IMHO ...
Bonney feels like a good fit. But I agree she doesn't feel great yet. However, I always go back to that old SBS number theory that Kuma's fruit was always meant to be a part of the SH crew. So I do at least see the paw paw fruit becoming a part of the crew. Maybe given to the ship or something...
And in that world, I do see Bonney sticking around as at least the next temporary crew member.

She kinda did see him in gear 5, his new bounty posters show him in that form and when Bonney and Luffy met at the start of Egghead Island she even asked him about his white hair. Maybe she has a suspicion and just isn't sure about it yet

What!??? Not feeling it yet?? I think Luffy and the rest of the crew owe it to Kuma to take care of Bonney. I felt so strongly about this by the time Oda revealed to us that Bonney is Kuma's daughter and Kuma was enslaved again during the Reverie. We didn't even have any idea about Bonney's age at that time but we knew Bonney was a special target of WG (back during Akainu encounter). This only got more obvious during all the Kuma flashbacks were seeing. I think one way this could finally happen is when Kuma finally meets Luffy at Egghead to tell him his "wish" which would definitely be about caring for Bonney.
i still believe yamato would join later (or no?) seems the same with jimbe at first "i can't join, there still something i should take care off" or smthn like that ..

I think Gear 3rd was foreshadowing for Luffy Nika powers. We always assumed that the only reason Gear 3rd was stronger than base Luffy was his arm had compressed air inside it giving it more Mass and making it harder.
I still think that is partially true but I think the main reason Luffys punch is stronger in Gear 3rd is simply because Luffy always had cartoon powers (though Gear 5th makes them MUCH stronger.)
Luffys mind-brain thought that a bigger arm is stronger so his fruit made it a reality.
I think she could join just based of how Kuma set the straw hats up for success and also the whole Nika thing
The revolutionary army is easily the best choice for Bonney, she’s already met them and got along pretty well with Sabo too
I personally think that there’s gonna be 12 crew members in total;
Four east blue
Four red line
Four new world
The four from the east blue are humans
The four from the grand line are sub human; robin has multiple limbs from her fruit, chopper ate the human human fruit, franky is a cyborg and brook is a skeleton
The final four from the grand line will be other races of characters; jimbei is a fishman, carrot is a mink, Yamato is an oni, and Bonney is a buccaneer
One piece has a huge overarching theme of bringing a new dawn where everyone is equal and able to do what they want
It’s only make sense that the sun god, warrior of liberation, would be able to bring together all types of people and liberate them from the shackles of segregation
The bubble thing is usually used to indicate whispering when addressing another character. I like your theory about Luffy, so I’ll borrow it to draw the conclusion that he never whispers!

personally i think people are thinking too much. Nika is just folklore at this point, no one has ever seen nika in about 800 years and by that point its a myth. Yeah he has a rubbery body and bonney saw luffys poster but just because luffy has a rubber body doesnt mean luffy is nika. I mean nika was called the sun god and looking at luffy, its not like she and kuma are gonna look at him and be like “SUN GOD”.
I just recently found out about the Nanjing massacre and it reminded me a lot of the Kuma backstory this arc with the Celestial Dragon game with the bunnies.
I think Kuma knows what Nika means to people who were/are enslaved. Him sending luffy to Boa and her sisters implies some knowledge of their backstory.

I'm pretty sure she was aging specific parts of her body to a timeline where she somehow grew to that size, resulting in a distorted form. Hence "distorted future." Rather than accessing a timeline where she is literally Nika. That's my interpretation anyway.
Also on the topic of Bonney potentially joining the straw hats, what role would she play as part of the crew? As we all know:
Luffy is the captain,
Zoro is the first-mate,
Nami is the navigator,
Usopp is the sharpshooter,
Sanji is the cook,
Chopper is the doctor,
Robin is the archaeologist (not exactly normal for a ship's crew, but mandatory for the straw hats to find laugh-tale),
Franky is the shipwright,
Brook is the musician,
Jinbe is the helmsman,
Bonney is the ???
Everyone has a specific purpose as part of the crew aside from just being luffy's friend. I think that's why vivi and yamato stayed in their home countries, aside from the reasons that were given within the story. All yamato would have added was more muscle for the crew, wich we already have plenty of.
The ship plays a huge part on why Bonney will end up with SH as the name states is all about sun the only think she missed a lot and then you got the connection you mentioned through Kuma
I saw Bonney being this arc’s equivalent to characters like Vivi, Shirahoshi, Rebecca, or Momotaro, but I can see possibly joining the crew
Answering the question "Why doesn't Bonney know Luffy is Nika?" (I hope I'm right), after Kuma found out about Luffy being Dragon's son, he mentioned it to Dragon, who told him to never speak of it. Kuma himself said, "Sorry, I'll forget what I saw." So what if Kuma asked Vegapunk to remove that specific memory of him meeting Luffy and told him to give it back at a certain time, sort of as a code, instructing his robot mind what to do: save Nika.
I feel like these flashbacks are the memories that Bonney saw but with some extra add-ins to give better story context for us readers.

The funny thing is, on Sabaody, Kizaru, Sentomaru, Kuma and Bonney were all on the same island but the three former never met with the one latter then. Either that was just fate or Bonney was avoiding them on purpose because they're technically enemies now.

Between Bonney, Vivi, and Carrot, it's amazing how many "potential Straw Hats" are better than Yamato. Like, all these characters are properly fleshed out and developed, setting up for great "I must get stronger" moments, whereas Yamato is, "HEY, I'M GONNA BE THE NEXT STRAW HAT, I have all these crazy powers and I'm connected to so many important characters, I know we're just meeting in the middle of this big battle, but this is my whole story and motivation, I'm gonna join the crew!"
I that Kuma sent Luffy to Amazon Lily because of how close Amazon Lily was, relative to Impel Down. It feels like he knew that if Luffy wasn't able to at least try to save Ace, he wouldn't be able to live with himself.

Not to mention Vegapunk's been asking questions about what makes the self and memories were a possibility he considered, laying the thematic framework.

I just watched the impel down episodes of the anime again and the scene where Hancock misheard luffy was in it. He whispers\mouths "thank you" and she swoons thinking Luffy mouths I love you.

This is not telephaty bubles, this is whisper! In each panel characters speaking quiet (Gyogyo and Konnie in this chapter - example). And yes, it may also be the thoughts.
Luffy whispers in the scend with boa at impel down , it basically happens the same way as in the manga
I think Bonneys distorted future might be limited to body modifications then actual abilities. She likely can gain these modifications because in a distorted future maybe she was modified by vega punk or some other scientist. The science of one piece is advanced enough and the distorted future could be any narrative she makes.
One of the main things I still want to see is if Kuma and Vegapunk built in any fail safes or contingencies. That could lead to a moment present day where Kuma's will breaks through his programing. Maybe it will be a surprise, or maybe it will happen if his memories come surging back to him.
My theory is that Kuma sent Luffy to Amazon Lily because he somehow knew that the Boa sisters were formers slaves and wanted them to meet Nika
Kuma did keep up with the Straw-Hats, Dude knew on Thriller Bark about Usopp being Sogeking, despite Usopp attacking him without the mask, calling his new identity / nickname "presumptuous".
The way I see how the Bonney's fruit work is that see is capable of access different futures. But, to explain the "She has Luffy's abbilities" I would say that She accessed a future where the Luffy's awakening let other people have the rubber properties of his fruit, thus, in that future, even if It was just One second, Bonney could stretch like Luffy
I'm on the opinion that Luffy's mom was the missing Empress of Amazon Lily. Her age lines up perfectly with Dragon, she died of love sickness, and is still shrouded in mystery.

Bonney would be cool as strawhat, we have chopper as the male kid since drum island and bonney would be the female counterpart. Oda would be able to draw all those sbs future versions of straw hats during gags or even fights.
