Detail Core using my personal truck still; Ram 1500. I do have to say, between the wrap and the fact it’s brand new has allowed me to grow tremendously in my first few months. The branding gave the impression I knew what I was doing when people walked up for business cards vs an unbranded vehicle that no one knows why you’re there. I keep it as clean as possible as it’s easy to offer better coatings, steam clean, and maintenance packages when I’m doing the same packages on my personal vehicle. I have my hood split 50/50 with a ceramic coating and no coating; of the customer has the money, they get a coating 99% of the time when I show them results. Practice what you preach and it’s a lot easier for me to sell.
Bought a 2016 Mercedes Metris from a insurance auction for $1,000! Put another $6,000 in it to fix it.
Started off in my 2001 Honda Accord 4dr. Took the seats out and can fit my rigid, pressure washer, extractor and cooler in the back seat and chemicals , polisher, bucket etc in the trunk. Still in it now but will upgrade 2020.

My first car, a 2004 Subaru Forester XS. Invested about $800 in electric pressure washer, hose, extension cords, tarp, buckets, foam cannon, soaps, chemicals, Clay bars, vacuum, extractor, and more. My car was paid of for $5K. Been in business since July 2018 and it’s going well, currently saving up for a 2020 Transit, new equipment, and wrap. I’m 17 now FYI.

Love the video! I've been pondering this same question. I've been detailing "as a business" for about a year. I use my person vehicle right now for mobile detailing. I do have an issue that I've been thinking about. My truck is a 2000 Ford Excursion....with a V10....so I get about 8mpg on a good day lol!
I have been trying to save up funds to get a detailing van, not only for efficiency, because its lower...better set up, and gets WAAAY better MPG's. But for all those new detailers out there.....Don't by another vehicle unless your paying cash and can afford the extras that come with it!

I'm currently working out of my 2004 Toyota Matrix , 35 gallon water tank. Easy to park anywhere and no complaints from my clients 😁👍

How much water do you need per car
@@jorgemejia7901 Maybe about 5 to 7 gallons, a little more if you use the foam cannon, I down graded from the 35 gal tank to a 25 gallon, and U can do about 3 vehicles
@@miguel_the_creative so I'm just thinking to go carwash business and I like to have a good idea of water usage or how big of a tank do I need. Now, I've seen guys that rinse the cars like three times does that mean you need about 20 for a single car wash?

I started with a 2500 express with tons of space and 3 months later purchased a ford f150 crew cab and everything fits perfect as well. Now looking for a 3rd vehicle and living in this vegas heat the factors I’m looking at are….
1. Gas mileage
2. Vehicle safety
3. Comfortability (AC)
If your going to be driving I’m something 4-8 hours a day 5-6 days a week I want my personal needs met because the customers and money will come I promise.
I just upgraded to a ford transit 2020 and it’s been the best investment I’ve maid
It’s important to be comfortable in something your in all day and you look moor professional

How about when you’d need to carry water?
I use a Prius, works well with my Green Clean theme.
you can start with your personal vehicle but you will need a trailer to put the water tank and the power generator and also pressure washer because all of that stuff is big and won’t fit in a corrolla or prius
Great job breaking things down. I just pulled the trigger on a 6x10 trailer 🙃 I think there’s pros and cons to all the different set ups for mobile detailing but I’m excited about what I can do with a trailer. Onward and upward. Keep up the good work brother.

This is the exact situation I am in now. I want the van, but can make due without it if I have to. I think it’s be smarter to spend the money I could on a van towards finalizing the things I need and maybe even some FB ads
Started with a 2007 Dodge ram 1500. Bought a trailer shortly after. 6x12 cargo. Carried everything I needed. Three months goes by I switched to just my truck. Sold the trailer. Best decision I made by far!

@@detailingbusinessclasspodcast no actually my trucks transmission couldn't handle the wait. So I blew out my higher heard. So only had 1st-3rd and every mechanic I talked to told me my motor wasn't designed to pull on a daily. So. I did what I was advised to
What about the water tank?
This is an issue I'm thinking about at the moment. I've already bought most of the equipment but i own a 1998 Honda Accord. Money is tight but I have been leaning on buying the boxed Scion xB. It's conservative on gas and is built like a small minivan. Obviously, I want to look as professional as possible because that's what potential clients look for. Eventually, I'll upgrade when business grows. Anyone have thoughts on this?
I detailed out of my scion xb for half a year with the seats dropped you can definitely make it work but idk how well the car can handle a water tank

Especially if you're just looking to supplant your income. If you buy a used 8 to 19K Van, and then outfit it with every possible item that protessional car detailer uses; you're probably looking at around $20-80K, and you still have to make monthly payments. And if you take it to its logical end, what about if you suddenly decide after all of this "NOT TO" pursue your idea of car detailing bacause you got a better paying job, make more money? Now you're stuck with a massive monthly payment on the truck/van, you now have tons of chemicals, and the small items you bought. So why not go "Commando", buy the basics, use your vehicle to clean cars, and use the customers own power/electricity.....

I've always thought a Honda CR-V is the most ideal detail rig. IDK why, but they're small, good on gas and huge inside.
I drive an '08 CR-V. Honestly, I always feel like it's TINY and I can't fit what I need in it.

I'm just going to get a 25 gal water pump sprayer and out it in my trunk, use it when water isn't available. It pumps 1 gal a minute, so pretty good flow rate for small things.
1 word: organization. When you organize your tool and product you can squeeze it in your Toyota Corolla or Nissan Versa.
