What is your favourite high protein meal or snack?? Check out all the information on my ONLINE FITNESS AND NUTRITION COACHING PROGRAM AND FREE DOWNLOADS HERE: michelleroots.com/work-with-me/
Your day sounds delicious! I’m also finding that meal prepping roasted chicken breast is really helpful to have on hand. Now I also cook up a bunch of turkey bacon to keep in the fridge and will have a piece as if it’s jerky when I want something salty as a quick snack or string cheese.
Curious, what app do you use to keep track of your food??
Michelle its like an ah haaa moment. You described exactly what I was wanting to know. I'm 58 in menopause, eating healthy, working out, but not hitting my protein goals. I'm definitely not eating enough. Your day as a mom made it real and doable. I'm a mom of adults now. I'm going to send your video to my sister and friends. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing the video!! Glad to help with your ahah moment!!
This video was SO HELPFUL! Thanks!
Love your content and energy!
I am so proud of you! I have been a fan since you were under 10,000 subscribers. I think your channel is fantastic and the information you share is so valuable. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for this! I know it’s a lot of planning and work to do a day of meals and snacks. I appreciate this!
Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good effort. Cheers!
You are very welcome!
Great job, Roots. Jiayou!!!
Thank you!
Wow. As someone who consistently starts over in her journey and a visual learner, I think I finally get dieting.
This video was awesome please post more videos like this 😊
I plan to for sure!! Glad you enjoyed it!
You are my favorite You Tuber! As a senior citizen who is now starting to workout and add strength resistance….you are a fount of information!
I love your energy. What you eat is so normal and relatable. I will try to eat more protein ❤
Wow! I was just thinking about how hard it can be to get my protein in! Thank you for a doable, realistic look at what it can look like.
You are so welcome!!
Really enjoying your videos, super helpful content!
Glad you like them!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for such in-depth information on your average meal plan. I have only started going to the gym ( at 68) for the last 3 months but have gone down from 182 lbs in September to 164 today. I'm 5 foot 8 inches tall. I still would like to drop some weight but have now changed my focus from losing weight to also gaining muscle. At present I eat 1500 calories per day with 70 grams a day. Sounds like I should up my protein levels. To get my body use to more protein I'll aim for 0.75 grams per lbs so that will increase my protein level to about 120 grams per day. Sounds like a plan. Now to research the most nutritionally sound way to do this. Thanks for so many high quality and inspirational videos.💙
Great job on your progress so far! Yes I would say slowly try to increase your protein so it's at least 30% of your daily calorie intake. I have lot's of protein videos already on my channel that will probably help :) Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for answering so quickly and for the advice ❤
you are very welcome! @@rae-annenichol9952
Hi Michele..thanks for this video. Since last we worked together I had stalled a bit and stopped following the core principles you taught me..oddly enough I did not give up the water intake..go figure - the one thing I hated the most has become my must have. Even bought a water bottle carrier type bag to carry the 40 oz Iron Flask with me all day!!! Not wanting to slide back 100% to where I was, I got myself back on track. One thing I did do was up my protein intake. This has helped a lot. I am back to loosing weight consistently and seeing much more definition due to lifting much heavier in my Orange Theory Classes (30 and 35lbs weights have become my go to for some sets!!). One of my favorite dishes I made for the fam was Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza and BBQ Chicken Thin Crust Pizza using Lavash bread, Turkey pepperoni, fat free Mozzarella and sugar free either BBQ or Pizza sauce. The BBQ chicken one comes out to 320 cal / 19g Carbs / 10g Fat and a whopping 37g Protein!! The pepperoni one is 250 Cal / 23 g Carbs / 7g fat and 22g Protein each serving!! Nobody was hungry after eating some of those!!! I continue to look forward to your videos!!
Hey!!!! That's amazing!! That is what this whole journey is all about, not being perfect, but being consistent and never giving up. Tweaking things along the way. Love that you are lifting heavier and you are officially a water drinker!!! Thanks so much for the update and so glad to hear you are doing well!!! Ps. That pizza sounds delish!
Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome!
Great content as always! For the gluten and dairy allergy people out there which brand protein powder would you recommend?
love your honesty about the cookies! :) Fellow Canadian here - and I get it!
lol have to keep it 100% real with you guys lol! Wait … are they only available in Canada?? 😮
ha! yes, they are in fact a Canadian cookie! :) Chateau Frontenac is what the stamp is! @@MichelleRoots
Super helpful and love how you said I’m having coffee first thing in the morning! So real. 😂👊🏼
#noshameinmygame Coffee is life lol!
I finally got a chance to air fry chicken breast for partial meal prep. It is fast, easy and convenient to have on hand. Should of started it sooner 😅
Thank you for sharing 😊
You are very welcome!
When I'm snacky and just need a crunch I go to quest taco protein chips. So tasty and great protein content for the calories.
Great Choice!!
Hi Michelle, I just found your YT channel and enjoyed your content so I subscribed. While I was watching you, I kept thinking you reminded me of someone then realized you look so much like the actress Lacey Chabert. She appears in a lot of the Hallmark movies and she is adorable…just like you! You could be sisters, even your expressions are very similar. Anyway, I look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the great work.
lol!!! You are actually not the first person that has said this to me 😂😂
lol!!! You are actually not the first person that has said this to me 😂😂
Thanks so much!
You are very welcome!
Thanks for great video. How can I estimate my maintaing calories? Best regards Joanna.
I like having a (microwave) baked potato as a side for protein wraps, especially after a workout.
I’m on a bulk and eat around 2300 calories and at least 150 g of protein. Egg whites and tuna are my food heroes. Fairlife milk is my coffee creamer.
Awesome!! Sounds like you are crushing it!
Too funny, your oatmeal formula is almost identical to my go-to breakfast, which I’m having right now as I watch this video! I use organic thick cut oatmeal, flax plus-protein milk, 3 T PB Fit powder, stevia, blueberries and half a banana. Might throw in vanilla protein powder too! So good!! ❤❤
Wow! I just realized that your protein intake is the carnivore 70/30. 70% fat and 30% protein. I’ve been looking at various diet ideas and trying to pre-plan, up ahead, of what I want to do because I don’t want to jump in blind. I’m doing a very low carb diet along with BMR calculator and activity calculator burning my own fat slowly and I just checked my macros and it turns out that I am eating and consuming, my own human fat plus fat from food, at 70% and the 30% part is split 16% carbs ( rarely whole sugar, I use stevia and monk fruit ) and 14% protein, about 30 grams. So when I’m done reaching my goals and I want to put on muscle, I could eat 30% protein and intuitively eat the remaining 70% fat and carbs at maintenance level according to the BMR calculator! Easy!
Hello, new to your channel. Love your content and gives me motivation and encouragement to believe I can reach my goals at my 43 year old age 😂
However, I tried to download load app but it says I need an Apple Watch, but I don’t have one. Is there another way to get your app?
Thank you for your knowledge. It was a blessing to find your channel😊
Could you do a video on your thoughts and opinion on cutting and bulking for women in their 30s and 40s? That dont intend to compete. If you think its a good idea or if just eating at maintenance and trying to progress in the gym is enough to gain muscle. Love your videos. They keep me grounded. I think sometimes I consume to much content of kids in their 20s and have to remind myself I'm 44 year old.mom of 4! Lol
lol yes it’s hard sometimes to not play the comparison game with some of the young’ns on the internet lol …but yes I think part of the journey is accepting what stage you are in like and building around that (around the mom hood madness lol). That’s a great idea for a video I’ll add it to my list :)
@@MichelleRoots Thank you for the perspective!
Hi Michelle. Can you tell me the name of the wraps you eat and the cookies? I don't think I've ever seen them by me in NJ but will look after I hear from you. Thanks! Michelle :)
The wraps are protein up wraps and the cookies are celebration cookies (but I think they are only in canada??) Someone informed me of that...
those cookies are good with a little it of almond or pb smeared on too :)
Sounds like a delish idea!
Michelle I really love your natural style. Mom of 2 here. 8 and 6 and I am on a body recomp. I can totally relate :)
Awesome!!!!
Love your channel! Thank you for your helpful advice! Does height have any correlation to protein intake? I’m 5’7. What is the ideal amount of protein I should aim for?
The amount of protein intake should equal your ideal body weight in pounds. Learned this from Dr. Gabrielle Lyon who preaches Muscle-centric science.
@@Nine_Bun_Bunthank you, my friend!
@michelleroots how do I apply your suggestions for fat loss/calorie deficit if I’m 16 months PP and still nursing (not exclusively) ? TIA
@MichelleRoots Do you have a link for the fiber gummies? I think I might be allergic to psyllium so I'm hoping they don't contain it. Thanks
Having babybels in the car is such a great idea. I'm always on the loop kout for protein bars with healthy ingredients & ones that taste good but it's impossible. I love Barebells from trader Joe's but stopped buying them bc the ingredients aren't healthy at all
Yes babybels are great!
My favorite protein snack is a pho rice pudding: cottage cheese, pineapples and cinnamon. I hate cottage cheese but this makes it delicious.
I’m curious to know what you think of intermittent fasting while working to eat your daily calories.
Sounds delish!! As for Intermittent fasting, I created a whole video a few weeks ago explaining my thoughts around it. You can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/QHRHT-4O1Qw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SALcPkUTtXPpymct
I blend my cottage cheese with protein powder . comes out like a mousse.
I found this video extremely interesting because everyone else that I watch says NO FIBER and NO FAT pre or post workout. You do not seem to worry about those things. Looks like you include fiber and fat whenever you want. So it doesn’t make a difference? I know they claim to only eat simple carbs pre and post workout but I am over 60 and only eat complex carbs.
What brand of wrap do you use for lunch?
Do you have tips for macro and calorie tracking when most of your food is package free? I buy almost everything the farmers market so there are no labels. I eat very few things from boxes/bags which makes all these calculators so difficult to use
3:41. Half of a banana??!! 😁. I eat my old fashioned oats uncooked. Thanks very much Michelle.
What’s wrong with half a Banana? Lol i put the other half in the freezer for my smoothies… works for me at least 👌🏼
@@MichelleRoots I was wondering about the other half 🙂

I'm overweight. I want to lose about 30 lbs and build muscle at the same time. I have been doing weight watchers and noticed the calories are normally under 2000 a day. How do I know how many calories a day are good for my fitness goals ?
do you do white pasta or whole wheat? Thanks I appreciate the video
Whole wheat
I want to lose my stomach , I work out a little at home. Can you tell me what to do ? I kinda know how to eat my meals from a trainer I worked with. Thanks in advance
I've been eating betweeen 90-120 grams of protein a day in a deficit. I am awfully full and constipated. How do you eat all of this protein!
Help!
You look amazing! I too need my 2 cookies. Dewey’s triple ginger. Been doing it for 3 years…it is my reward
I can’t find the pancake recipe anywhere!!! Insta, your website, TH-cam feed! I’ve looked! Where can I find it?
Hello! Do you mean the protein pancakes I mention in this video? Here is the link to the protein pancakes I love flourish.rfrl.co/72884
What is the protein wrap - you kinda sailed through that so I couldn't hear what it was. Thanks!
They are called protein Up wraps :)
How easy is it to get enough protein as a vegan? I’m 5’6” 115 pounds and left weights 5 days a week. I mostly eat vegetables, fruits and nuts.
It's not easy. I've been vegan 23yrs, and since I started calculating protein, I realise that it's hard. Tofu plays a big part for me and, as I'm heading towards menopause, I think that's a good thing. I also use a decent protein powder, and add hemp seeds and nutritional yeast to everything that I can. Keto breads help, and mock meats if you like them. Keeping fat targets low will be difficult without protein powder, so keep that in mind.
That being said, until recently, I paid very little attention to protein and was doing fine. I'd been teaching pump, step, and Pilates classes at gyms for nearly a decade and I've been weight training for 15yrs. I'm not looking for a body builder body, so I'm not sure how necessary it really is to have protein goals as high as is now recommended. The gram for pound thing is relatively new, and only been a topic for us regular folk, who aren't professional body builders, for a few years. I don't know that you NEED to aim that high to see the results you're likely aiming for - although your weight will definitely need to be higher.
Hope that helps a little...
You’re doing it right. There’s no way u weigh that much. Must be all muscle!!
lol!! Yup I do weigh that much and definitely a lot of it is muscle 😂😂💪🏻💪🏻
@@MichelleRoots way to go!!
Hi Michelle! I’m looking for those protein pancakes. I can’t seem to find them. I see the protein supplement, but not the Pancake Mix. Thanks in advance.😊
Here you go :) flourish.rfrl.co/72884

I here alota talk about Greek yogurt what type do you use no one ever mentions it(brand)
I use Kirkland brand from Costco or Oikos usually :)
👍🏼👍🏼
I have questions , I always look at my protein first . I train with weights walk 2miles a day 4-5 days week . When I had my body scan last month, I gained like five point one muscle but this month when I did my body scan I lost the 5.1 and body muscle mass and gain
How can that be? I’m 60 years old I know we lose muscle a lot faster being that age but how when you’re eating protein is still lifting
Get your protein from animals, even if that means less fruits and veggies. It really is a game changer. Eat some meals that is only meat. Ground beef, don’t get lean, use 80/20 ground beef is cheap
I'm 60 also and I was losing a lot of muscle with too much walking. I had to cut way back. I do more weights and minimal cardio now. I'm finally losing fat. At this age too much cardio kills my muscle gains.
I'm unable to eat dairy. Suggestion for non dairy protein?
Hello! check out my video talking about high protein vegetables and vegetarian high protein foods here and hope it helps! th-cam.com/video/3RmGOiIa9-Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9gTEmD1BXSItI9wE
Would that video also apply for gluten free options? I have cut out dairy & gluten as it affects my gut
Is it okay to take spinach as raw?
Yes eating raw spinach is completely fine :)
I have such an issue with protein intake as I do not like meat. So I opt for Whey to substitute
Whey protein is a great supplement to help increase your daily protein intake.
Michelle, I have made some changes and now I do get to 100 somedays 105/110gr. I eat fish + whey , over the lunch and chicken/turkey over the dinner + whey. I will get back to you have my BF gone faster now to what it was before😊
I am at aprox at 25% Bf, 158lb,168cm. I look pretty lean but hate my remaining belly fat that is at the lower part of my stomach😅. Thank you for your understandable videos and subtle order how to lift and eat.
