    A lot of people don't have access to these equipment and can't do pull ups. Big PVC pipe is good. I made my own fat grip and put them on dumbbells and bar, great. Hanging on a bar is great, but you can modify it if you do partial hanging from a bar, which is really good for a stretch as well. Good video.

  • @sarivata
    @sarivata 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    A lot of what I do in my martial art's require good grip strength. This has been the most informative video on the subject I have seen, hands down. One suggestion I would have is to do more audio takes, Your went going through all the trouble of doing an overlay and when you tripped over your script I especially noticed it.

    • @nvmffs
      @nvmffs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Mike Shu What's good about it? Just because he does 7 pull ups with fast pace? Nothing in the video shows he has good strength or muscle. Having said that, his grip stregth seems ok for his size. I'd suggest he try dead hangs from a thick bar or a fat grip. Adds another level.

      he doesn't look muscular in his intro because he does not have a large neck. he is certainly pound for pound strong in his upper body and he is low bodyfat which really aids with the type of exercises he is demonstrating. overall, great advice and an excellent video! thanks TheUrbanNinja!!

  • @DannyoRaiden

    For me I started hang from rings and could actualy start swinging from start to finnish in two days.
    So I agree hanging from rings/ledge is best.

  • @nottheone582
    @nottheone582 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    these are all pretty advanced - could you do an intro to grip strength for beginners? I can dead hang for about 30 seconds but can't do any of the other movements you've included here. what are some easier things I can do to build up to these?

    • @Dungar108
      @Dungar108 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Chinups are a great one to build up the arm strength (dead hangs too). Dumbbell holds (just holding a heavy dumbbell as long as you can) is another great one, allows you to start as light as you need and work your way up. Could also try climbing anything nearby (be it a tree or wall) to build up the functional strength). If you have a rock climbin facility nearby that's also very helpful.

    • @calvintrainer1212
      @calvintrainer1212 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually if you wanted strength training for grip, endurant hold is not great for it. Add weight to your body and hold/hang around 8s-10s max, do not go to failure. When repeat after 2 min rest or more, add more weight then do it. Never grip hold until your grip fails, stay fresh and rest long is the protocol for strength grip training. I save time by doing something else in between sets. You want to be able to hang with at least double your body weight toal. For me that would be 310 lb total more or less. Currently I got to 275. Ball grips hanging is tougher than stair steps or bar hanging. I expect to reach 310 total in 30 day or less. Good luck

    Man, I want this guy and his climbing playground in my neighborhood. I'd pay to workout there. Help defray the cost of the stuff. Help put stuff up. This is awesome. There should be a whole neighborhood of kids that are amazingly strong.
    Of course, in our litigious / monetary society. Some local gym would call whatever regulators and say they were worried about his gym. Not worried about kids safety - worried about their profits as people realize gym shmim, I'm working out with him.

All are done with added weights. Ball grips I added 100 lb, stair steps added 120 lb, finger tips on bar 120 lb, which is not yet my goal (165 lb). Among other grip exercises
